It's a difficult one, as a general rule I tend to prefer the original language version.

I have only watched the first episode of Space Dandy in both languages and I found the script to be slightly better in the dub and with it being in my native language it allows me to take in a lot more of the subtle animation details that I would sometimes miss.

The poll is split 50/50, so the it doesn't seem like one is significantly better then the other.

they are both quite fantastic, i personally believe the dubbed version has better line delivery and script as well as allows you to pay attention to the visuals which has a ton of visual jokes, though going with sub is still a very solid audio track

I have watched both; the two of them are really well cast . But I watch the sub for the sole reason of how the sub pronounces "Boobies".

For the first time, in a long time, I'm going with dubbed.

This is the first time I've gone with dubbed since Trigun + Cowboy Bebop.... those are awesome dubs.

I go double on this one. I really dig the subbed version and all - but the dub has one huge advantage over the sub. Two words: Colleen Clinkenbeard.

So, I dunno, I guess I'll go with the dub for this poll.

I personally think the English dub is funnier than the Japanese. There are jokes in the Eng dub that simply don't exist in the Jap dub.

I'm sure it has to do with translation issues, but there are no funny substitutes :/

SO. English it is!

I prefer the dubbed. I can watch all the crazy shit without trying to read at the same time. I only prefer subbed over the dubbed when the English Dub sucks. But Space Dandy is pretty well done. I like both, but prefer English Dubbed.

Both the sub and the dub are great. That being said, I don't understand why someone wouldn't want to watch this in their native tongue... the "all dubbed suck" doesn't work with this anime.

Oh well just preferences I suppose.

So I am the watcher of both eng dub and eng sub anime. I must admit for some animes I like only one type. But for this anime, I really don't know what to say. Both seem really good to me. I just kinda wish the eng dub version of Dandy has more of his accent from the eng sub version.

I don't know about the dubbed one, I won't watch it.
The anime is average in my opinion.

Yo both are pretty good.
With English you get to watch it sooner.
However Japanese version has better OP and ED.

Then again I feel like I find the context of the jokes funnier if I actually understand what is being said rather than reading it.

I don't know which is better. Both are great.

Honestly, I was quick to vote subbed. I like it better because you're hearing it the way it was meant to be heard. Does that make sense?

But then again, if it's dubbed, I don't even have to be visually watching the anime to watch it... as in, I can multitask and watch..

So they each have their own pro's, but if I'm truly watching an anime to enjoy it, I prefer subbed.

not entirely true, there are stories that are meant to be heard in a dubbed language but they have to do it in japanese simply because they are from japan, series like metal gear solid for example are meant to be heard in English audio, also for series such as bebop and baccano the creators say the english is better and more fitting, just cause it came first doesnt mean it was intended to be that way

I personally really like both casts but a bit biased to English because it's an English dub I enjoy for once plus it airs first in that language and I hear it first.

It really is pretty 50/50

I watched the first episode in both dub and sub then the next 3 in sub and last 3 have been dub. To be honest it didn't really matter, I've come to prefer the dub because I think dandy sounds better in dub. QT is much better subbed but its really all personal preference.

Why

Television in the United States have around two minutes more commercials per half an hour cycle than in Japan, so the OPs and the EDs of animes are usually shortened or cut.

Both are well acted but for a show with such amazing visuals like this, I've been watching it dubbed so I'm not stuck reading the bottom of the screen and missing out on the spacey, surreal, psychedelic awesomeness!

Dandy and meow sounds very monotone in the dub sometimes. Also, QT's Japanese voice is a lot cuter than the american one.
However, for those of us with a real sound system the dub sounds A LOT better because it's actually 5.1.
This show is so entertaining it's no problem watching each episode twice, so that's what i do.

I think they are both good in their own respects but I'm leaning towards Dub since it was made specifically for the western audience and includes references only westerners like myself can get a good chuckle out of it.

Otherwise, Both are awesome.

I've seen both and I think SD was on of the only animes with good dub. I still went with sub though, my eyes can catch up with the visuals and the text while also being used to the language so I'm having a nice catch.
You guys will argue over anything.

Dubbed QT is better(him sounding cute doesn't me match his character and that's a dumb and shallow reason for saying how the sub is better)

Whichever your native language is. This is a parody/satire work, and i think the subsnobs are really missing out on this one if they refuse to watch the dub. For example the theme song. The dub has one that is easily recognizeable to a Western audience as reminiscent of bad 70's action movies, as do the voices of the characters. The sub has a different theme song. Perhaps it is a song reminiscent of something equally funny/relevant in Japanese culture, but it's lost on me. Also little things that just give the anime its character, like "The adventures of space dandy, in space" which aren't translated as such in the sub. I haven't watched much of the sub, but I'm sure there are all kinds more references and jokes that are just completely left out, or lost due to lack of localization (localization here is a huge PLUS, seeing as it is a parody of everything imagineable, and some things simply will not translate between cultures otherwise). I did not find what i watched of the sub nearly as hillarious as the same parts' dub.

I haven't seen it subbed but it seems to fit more with the dub imo. The dub clearly has it own jokes like memes and googling.
