This was basically Lupin x Cowboy Bebop x something else I can't pinpoint, and I absolutely love it. Honestly I'd even go so far to say this is one of the best first episodes I've seen in a while, especially with that ending lmao

The fanservice didn't bother me at all, but that may be the Lupin factor I'm feelin

I think I hyped up this series way too much. I knew it was going to be on the funnier side, but I didn't think that was going to be it's main selling point. Was pretty disappointed by this episode, but that's because I had such high hopes. I'll probably like the 2nd episode more since I won't take it so seriously.

You took this seriously? The guy is space Johnny Bravo, I was expecting it to get zany.

I don't think it's ever going to get serious until it really needs to.

We probably won't find out. It seems like they will just go from adventure to adventure.

Read elsewhere that they cut the OP and removed the ED entirely. The latter is especially unforgivable considering the musicians involved.

All the more reason to watch a proper subbed release. Not going to bother with watching the dubbed version on television.
Oh yeah they did cut it didn't they. I might just be used to cuts since it happens all the time on [adultswim]. Something so minor won't affect which version I decide to watch anyway~~

I agree, the anime so far is pure fun. Too bad people only get impressed when an anime is about killing giants or stuck in a video game.

They have to cut those on American television so that they can air commercials. Please support this. It would be wonderful for more anime to get on television in the states at the same time or before Japan.

I dunno. I think we're gonna find out, personally. I don't see him just saying "To heck with it". It'll probably be some silly reason for how he escaped or something.

One thought that popped into my head during the episode; it would be hilarious, and actually fitting, if Dandy is fighting or always running away from the flame head guy the entire series and has no idea. Priceless.

It's hard to tell what this series will do at this point though

Well it wasn't that good as expected. When the boobies came up my mom came in and started watching it. Thanks for making it awkward for me Toonami...

Well I really have no reason watching Toonami now since I've seen everything else but I might stay for Naruto Shippuden. Even though I have it on DVD.

Unless you have one of those cable boxes that shows what you're watching your view really doesn't count. I'll be watching this in English since I like the voice actors. I usually watch subbed shows, but when it's something that really benefits from understanding different accents I prefer the dub (black lagoon, cowboy bebop).

This is going to be a great show with a blend of comedy and seriousness. Let's not forget how funny yet serious/badass Samurai Champloo was and that's from the same creator

Cowboy Bravo. I thought it was decent, but what the hell is up with the ratings? I can name a good many MAL 7's that were much worse than this. Art and sound were top notch. Best dub in a long time. Humor still above par for this kind of thing.

TL;DR stop tripping and enjoy. It wasn't billed as caviar.

Some slightly uneducated people decided to rate the show before the full episode even aired.

First half of the episode was pretty bland.
It did get pretty interesting half-way through.
The random info dumps by the presumed 'bad-guys' were off-kilter though.
Something about an element and then the Dandy crew is ripping a whole in the fabric of time.

What's more the ending to the first episode was on par with Fooly Cooly levels of wackiness; not that that's a bad thing.

So I'm left here wondering if the second episode starts with a 'universe re-start' button or if we're meant to just shrug and go on.

The thing this show does have going for it - I will say, the cleverly folded in pop culture references & the blatant ones ~infinity & beyond ~ really, ... I bet you've already gotten that phone call from Disney.

Either way, I'm willing to give this anime five episodes to either ratchet up the zaniness and embrace being wacky or start down the path to having a plot. Either way, it needs to make up it's mind right quick.

I hope it doesn't go up too far; wouldn't want another Gintama with it being in the top 10 within a day of its airing (doubt it will, though). Needs time to develop.

The worst is the people who give actual reviews (that show up in the reviews section) of animes early on... please gtfo.

On a side note for some of you seeing a lack of substance, how about you embrace the wonderful imagination going on? Holy smokes is it going on too! SOOO many different aliens just in the first episode! Maybe we will find out about a lot of them, maybe we won't, but it sure is fucking cool.

I say that the dub it's pretty good. All did a pretty good job except the robot girl who voiced autotune a lot that annoys me, and kinda feels like Adventure Time a little bit all because of her.

Good show so far. However, I'm still unmotivated to watch anime, so I didn't bother to add it to my anime list.
Call me out for not watching it all you want, but I actually did watch it, and even trended it on Twitter.

Not sure how a feel about the first episode. It seemed to be mocking the first episode introduction and plot development. I expected zaniness, and it was, but I guess I wasn't expecting it ignore plot and drive straight into crazy town.

But it is just the first episode. Who knows how the story will unfold.

So far, so good. Most of the voices seem to fit well. Dandy's voice fits his personality and his little robot companion sounds cute.

The full episode aired on American television yesterday. It'll air in Japan later today and it'll probably be online in both dub and sub later today.

This anime will be a very love/hate anime unless it goes somewhat serious from now on, but from the preview I'm having a hard time seeing that happening. While I sorta wish it was more Bebop like, I don't mind it being the wacky way it is.

That was one of the better premieres I've seen in a long while. Will be looking forward to watching this every week.

Also, perfect series to get high to, especially that ending (jk).

12 mins in and absolutely love it. All the characters fit well, but the robot girl is a bit annoying w/ some autotune on her, though, that won't stop me from watching dub over sub; definitely picking the dub up and downloading sub as a secondary option.

I watched with a bunch of friends, we were enjoying the first half relatively well then loved the 2nd half, we were laughing at the idea of them actually ending the episode with everyone dying and it being the end with nothing after the credits then they actually did that which pretty much confirms im going to love this show

my god the creativity in everything during the 2nd half was astonishing, from the animation that was a treat to watch to the colorful imagery to just how many freaking aliens they came up with in 1 single 10 minute section, just man i hope the series can top a section like that. Also its got my even more excited for whats coming since almost all the preview footage was just from episode 1

I just hope to god the 26 episodes is correct because if so then the first half of 2014 is going to be a enjoyable time every saturday

I know we shouldnt compare the 3 since dandy is very different but if its watannabe it will probably have some mixed episodes, im expecting there to be at least a couple duds mixed between really good episodes

also how anyone can watch this episode and not find dandy to be likable in every possible way is beyond me

I'm pretty sure it's only 13 episodes. It's listed as 13 on Funimation's website plus I remember reading somewhere that the writer confirmed it was 13 episodes. Who knows, though?

I know, and I still believe that in the back of my mind since i was there and watannabe outright said theres only 13 but im holding out hope that we really will experience something this fun for a half a year rather than a quarter
