Did they actually tell you that was the case or are you just presuming dubbies don't want to take the time to read? I don't mind subtitles, I watch dubs because I prefer to hear the characters speak in my own language. I will turn on the subtitles when I'm having a hard time understanding what someone is saying. I watch my fair share of subs, but only when the series has not been licensed (i.e. Monster) or the DVDs haven't been released and I can't wait. Plus it tends to be more difficult to get your hands on dubs than subs. You can find subs anywhere on the internet, half the time the only way to find the English dub is to rent/buy the DVDs. I don't think using money you've earned from work to satisfy your anime crave counts as being lazy. |

I'm not even going to try to have this conversation with you if you're going to make those kind of comments. That's just absolutey ridiculous and not to mention offensive. How in god's name did you even come up with that comparison? |

Well people should be allowed to prefer what they prefer... it's just as simple as the fact that each and everyone has their own personal taste in these things, and if someone doesn't like dubs (or does like them), they have a reason for it even if they're not able to explain it, and they're not gonna change their preference just because someone tells them they're "wrong". |

Dragon Ball Z, FMA, and Noein. For DBZ everyone sounded too girly and week compared to their English voices. FMA just sounded better because I adapted to the English dub faster than the original, same with Noein. |

Ryogakun said: its just started somehow about mononoke hime. since we started to talk about voice actors. Hm... Ryogakun said: so many lazy ppl here subs fw So then what was this comment? That discussion was wrapping up quite nicely, you didn't need to come in and post that. Then again you should probably avoid pro-dub threads if you really don't like them that much. Just avoids all the trouble. On topic: I'm watching the Azumanga Daioh dub right now and, personally, I love it. I began the series watching subs, but found myself becoming very disappointed, I didn't find the series to be as hilarious as I had heard. Then I decided to try the dub and suddenly I was rolling around the floor in laughter. Listening to the character's antics in English made all the difference for me, especially Osaka's lazy Texas accent. At first I didn't think it would work, but I'm so glad to find that I was wrong. |

I have thought about it and managed to come up with a dub that I like - the Swedish version of Sailor Moon. I think maybe I even like it more than the Japanese version, but I haven't watched it in years and years so I can't say for sure. One thing is for sure though, in my opinion, the Sailor Moon songs are the best in Swedish. Both the singing and the lyrics are far better in Swedish than they are in English or even in Japanese. But yeah... there are still no English dubs that I like, but that's probably because I'm Swedish anyway XD I'm gonna try watching the english version of Azumanga Daioh though. I wanna hear what Osaka sounds like! |

well i think its DBZ for me they released the movies in these weird voices it was hilarious lines such as: son Goku: NO ganpa, it not enough. son Goku: i wont let you hurt this beautifull planet all done in a very strange accent, and then of course lets not forget the direct translation when freiza has the dragonballs and says something along the lines of: my balls how i love to caress them. absolutely fantastic. but i know you mean serious dubs but for me weird dubs is what makes dubbing fun. |

see for me even though the FMA dub might be decent, the japanese version is one of my favorite set of voice actors of all time. i think fma is hands down one of the best anime shows for the voicing of characters. oh, and i didnt like the dubbed because Sheiska (cant remember how to spell her name) had a terrible english voice and she was a chacter i really loved. Honestly, i rarely watch dubs, and if i Do they're on adult swim and only AFTER i've seen the sub... (since for almost all the series on AS i saw them in japanese before they were on TV) FLCL is by far the best. the voices are amazing. my only problem was mamimi. one of my favorite characters of all time, and i just couldnt get used to her english voice. but most of the voices were very well done and i'd watch the english with no problem. Cowboy bebop. even though i didnt like this show the english voices just fit with the characters. Pokemon: the dub is awesome. i'm sorry, but its just as lame as in the japanese version voices... so theres no difference watching lameness in english... at least you can make fun of them easier!!! honestly though, i can count all the dubs i've watched with my hands. very small amount. |

FMA always always. id dare say it even borders on being better than the original. inuyasha was also well dubbed for the most part. & wow the new death note is growing on me pretty well. maybe its just because im more engaged in the show cuz i dont hafta read subs xD but whatever, its above decent. |

Death Note's actually fine by me. It wasn't as good as expected but eh, it's growin on me! Besides I like Death Note too much. I also liked Fruits Basket except for Momiji since his turned out too girly! But Kyo's voice actor "Jerry Jewell" made up for the most part. This was best for me. Hayao Miyazaki's anime usually end up pretty good too! Of course, FMA's on the list as well. I can deal with that. But anyways, I [emphasize]rarely[/emphasize] watch dubs. Japanese ones are still the best. |

i wasnt feeling Deathnote's and Blood+'s dub but Bleach, Noein and Witchblade dub's have been fine. Im pretty happy that IFC picked up Witchblade for show on fridays. If any of you have IFC (independent film channel) everyfriday they show some REALLY good anime on fridays @ 8 and 830pm. Last season they aired Gunslinger Girl and Samurai 7 and now they're airing Witchblade. |

I think the majority of the western-based dubbed animes are decently good. Some I would consider even better than their Japanese w/ subs counterparts. Things like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, FMA and such. |

Fullmetal Alchemist really impressed me with it's dub work, probably the only anime out there I'll prefer the dubs over it subbed. Other ones with good dub work I can take either way, FMA I just have to watch it dubbed; it sounds so much better IMO. Big O was nice too, though I haven't seen it subbed to attempt an unbiased opinion. |
