| The white background is too straining to the eyes especially in lighted rooms. Every time I spend too much time reading the forums my eyes gets tired and sooner or later my eyes are losing focus on the words I can't explain it fully but in simple words, I get uncomfortable and having a hard time reading. This is probably because the background reflects the lights around a lighted room and strains my eyes? Another reason is the floaters in my eyes, its a jelly-like substance that floats inside our eye. It's not natural and is accumulated by aging and other aspects. Either way, these floaters, is generally super visible in white backgrounds. This is why I prefer a black BG and white texts since it much less straining in the eyes especially if I view the forum in a well-lighted room and my floaters are practically invisible and less noticeable. I'm sure there are others out there that are also bothered by the lack of theme customization. So, what do you guys think? |

| I can't believe this hasn't been implemented yet. There's so many sites that have an official theme like this. A simple button or check that would change the mode could be best placed in the account settings page or even at the bottom of the site. |

| Would be really nice if a dark mode gets official, as pretty much several sites have done until now. I know you can download something and stuff, but there are people like me who simply doesn't want to download something to make it happen. |
| Will there be an official dark theme since the white one is not very pleasant for the eyes. There are already some optional dark themes on MyAnimeList at the profile manga & anime lists themselves for us to choose but they are exclusive for there instead of the entire site. There are custom themes from extensions but was just wondering if an official option has been talked about since there already are dark themes here just not for all of the site. |

| I have youtube and twitter on dark mode. Whenever its night and I'm in my dark room, I sometimes switch from twitter's tab to MAL's tab, and going from the dark background to this white background really hurts my eyes. Pretty much every website nowadays is implementing a dark mode feature, and I think a lot of people would appreciate a dark mode here on MAL! |

| There isn't an "official" dark mode for MAL as far as I know. However, there is a certain Chrome extension or two that can be used to customize how the site looks. I believe the most renown one is Stylus. If you weren't hunting a knock-off, non-MAL exclusive site style changer, then you're fresh out of luck. |

When I switch my dark mode on, it looks so bad lmao. |

| A must for people who don't want to burn their retinas out. Having a dark mode immediately makes me like a website more - not just because I feel it looks better, but also because it's more accessible to me. There's certainly an ease of access part to this, and I find it sad how few websites seem to care (and instead focus on "muh modern design"). |

| Any update on this? An official night/dark mode could go a long way. I don't want to use any third party programs. Plus too much white screen is really bad for the eyes according to studies so it would be a huge help to some of us, like people who has sensitive eyes. |
| A dark theme would be a great addition to the site. Lighter themes strain my eyes. EDIT: Just to be a bit more detailed, if you go onto youtube and use their dark theme, that's sorta what i mean, just something you can easily toggle. Mod edit: Duplicated topic merged. |
