<3 I'm glad that Yozakura Quartet character song CD & OST is up there.

I guess "Jiyuu e no Shingeki" went up again because of the announcement of participating Kouhaku Utagassen this year.

Well, I also added Saiyuuki and Brothers Conflict (both also had anime adaptation, but not directly related to anime). I'm actually indecisive about adding those (another mod. said no to include them, though).

Edit: I have deleted all three of them from the list.

Good sales, I was honestly expecting more since it had the climax of the arc. I hope the next arcs and volumes sell more or at least not less than this.

Wow. What a BD threshold, one of the highest in recent history.

Congratulations to Monogatari Second! 41,283 is very impressive, 1.5k more than v1 wk1 (39,741). I wonder how much v1 added this week, hopefully we'll see it in Thursday list. Things aren't looking as "grim" as before for this show.

KinMosa barely missed the DVD cut-off once again, damn it. Hopefully next vol's DVD ranks so it would be justifiable to count BD average + DVD average as total average.
Still, it's pretty consistent and continues to do much better than I first expected. Samewith Ilya, DAL and DxD

That's not how sales work. Most of the time each consecutive volume sells a bit less (or at least not noticeably more) than preceding one. However Monogatari is special case and later arcs could indeed do slightly better than Neko. Also v2s can indeed have better wk1 figures but it isn't related to the climax of an arc in the slightest. It's because some people prefer buying both volumes at the same time so they wait with v1 till v2 is released. When it comes to total numbers, v1 will always win over v2 unless something unusual happens (like v2 ranking in slower weeks and therefore having theoretically longer tail) but it's very unlikely and wouldn't really mean that v2 sold more.

I always suspected you might add BroCon and Saiyuuki CDs while you took IdolM@ster CDs away. And I would complain about favoritism if you had done that. Well, at least you pulled yourself back from that....
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

^might just be due to Tsubasa Tiger not being all that interesting compared to the rest. Then again, so far neither Nisemonogatari nor the second season could beat Bakemonogatari in my eyes (I do admit though that both of those had some nice scenes, but lost overall to the first installment of the franchise).
It still sold nearly 40,000 units which is nothing to cry about.

You are right, sales usually get lower after each volume. I didn't know that some buyers preferred to wait till both volumes are released, thanks for your input. I think the highest selling arc will probably be Koimonogatari or maybe Otorimonogatari.

I actually heard from the novel fans that Neko shiro was well received and that they liked the narration by Hanekewa and the arc being from her pov. Hanamonogatari is the ''boring'' arc of the second season according to novel readers.

It still sold nearly 40,000 units which is nothing to cry about.

The first volume sold 39k on the first week so the whole arc sold more than 80k. Yeah the sales are good especially considering summer season had bad sales.

What I heard is the LN fans praised the anime for adapting the "not-so-interesting" NekoShiro well, although they would have preferred less cut from various parts like Hanekawa's letter. Hana is definitely the most boring by consensus. Guess this is why it was the one picked out to be broadcast on network when they had to take one arc out from TV broadcast to lessen their workload. They certainly put a lot of emphasis on Koi as it is given 6 episode length instead of the 4 given to the other arcs. I also think the bestselling arcs would be Koi or Otori. So whatever tsudecimo said basically.

Happy that Monogatari Tsubasa Tiger v2 has 1.5K more sales week 1 than v1. Hopefully that means another 1.5K sales for v1 on Thursday with people deciding to buy both at once especially since some stores had specials on for ordering both and getting bonus items.

Sad about OreGairu v6 being so low, Amazon is temporarily out of stock which at the same time makes me hopeful of a strong second week and worried that insufficient stock could make it lower. I know, make up my mind, eh???

Very happy about Maware! Setsugekka Machine Doll ED getting almost 10K, should easily cross it next week. The OP is almost at 10K as well, hope it can slide over that line.

On the other hand, very sad about the Freezing Vibration OP/ED CD. I think the songs are great but I'm worried that the dark Genetics arc has really turned people off the whole show, theme songs included.

Glad to see the NouCome OP go over 32.5K, that's the power of Afilia Saga but I'm sad that the ED Sun and Moon Cross (Taiyou to Tsuki no Cross) did so poorly. It even has a Chocolat MINI Drama! How can you not adore that???

Golden Time OP/ED over 15K, already Yui!

And Shingeki no Kyojin OP still selling?? Wow.

Definitely because of that. So I am sure it will chart again in the first week of 2014 because songs featured in Kouhaku Utagassen broadcast in the last night of the year always sell well right afterwards. And apparently it will also be the very first time Linked Horizon will perform on TV. Since their performance is always sumptuously produced, with large prop, stage drama and even classical orchestra, the question now is whether all these will get featured when they appear in Kouhaku.

And of course I am prepared to watch the performance of the idol groups AKB48, SKE48 and NMB48 too (not as one big group like the past but as 3 separate groups lol).
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

Tsubasa Tiger v2 includes the full audio of Hanekawa's letter! Honestly this is what made me buy the arc and I'm glad I did as v1 includes the entire missing chapter 1 monologue by Hanekawa which is one of the coolest parts of the book IMO. Just a shame neither part is animated (well, will 'see' v2 today), just audio bonus but ah well, what can you do?

Oh, and the other best part about v1 is the character commentary penned by Nisioisin himself and voiced by Hanekawa and Hitagi. It is "girls talk" and with all the fanservice the commentary is absolutely hilarious and the "nyan nyan" stuff in episode 2 is just to die for, to die for... Tsuhiki and Nadeko in v2 should be interesting as well though not quite as appealing at first thought, I will see what I think when it arrives today (finally).

It is why I'm surely getting Kabuki now as well. I wasn't sure but the v2 character commentary (again penned by Nisioisin) is by 21-year old Hachikuji and 6-year old Hanekawa! They got such small parts in the anime that having them both talk over 2 episodes is worth the entire price of the volume IMO. I can not wait!!!

If they keep on putting such awesome audio bonuses in the volumes then I will be forced to buy them all. Don't know the audio bonuses past Neko Shiro yet or the commentary participants past Kabuki, not yet listed.

The single is in Oricon's singles list not in BD list. And it being missing here is certainly outrageous !! It is even more ridiculous given that it contains an OAD in most of its versions... The discrimination against Love Live and IdolM@ster seems never ending.

Anyway, I will let everyone know how glorious the sales of this latest single of μ's is:

It is ranked 5th in the Oricon's singles list:

*5 36,758 μ’s 6th Music S.T.A.R.T!!

And look at the sales history of μ’s singles. Look at how many more it sold after the anime was aired:

**,434枚 1st 僕らのLIVE 君とのLIFE 2010/8/25
*1,023枚 2nd Snow halation 2010/12/22

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

I didn't know that some buyers preferred to wait till both volumes are released, thanks for your input. I think the highest selling arc will probably be Koimonogatari or maybe Otorimonogatari.
You are right, normally people don't wait till arc ends to buy it. However as I mentioned Monogatari is special case and that's one of the reasons for it being so. All arcs here are two volumes long so it's much easier to wait for their ends than in normal (12 episodes = 6 volumes) anime. Moreover, IIRC Aniplex store wouldn't ship v1 first so their customers had no choice but to wait.
I'm not sure which will sell the most but want to believe some will do better than NekoShiro. Especially the arc with Mayoi, I loved it.

Since it has been 2 weeks since the last time, I decided to check the estimations again.

Not that many changes this time, by now most series should be set in stone, more or less. Only the rise in Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio and Tesagura!(which even made it into the top 100) is note-worthy.

The Nadeko/Kana Hanazawa discs sold more in Bakemonogatari. Not sure if the same will happen for Otori.

For many, Hitagi is the best girl so Koi could do well.

But Shinobu is the best girl for others though Maya not wanting to sing an OP in character could hurt the bonus for Oni, the instrumental OP we never even heard on the bonus disc unless it was just part of the OST so we never noticed?

36K is incredible though as it is as much as the Bluray volumes which included event tickets!

I wonder how well the fandisc and 2013 June 3rd anniversary concert discs will sell? I have them ordered. I see the fandisc is currently predicted a 8K sales on Stalker but I guess the concert disc is not generally included on that site.

The OST is included in bonus discs in the Bluray/DVD volumes.

For Bakemonogatari they did a songs and soundtracks 2 disc set but they never did one for Nisemonogatari so I don't know if they'll do one again for Monogatari SS.

At least part of the soundtrack is included in the package of NekoShiro vol.2

As hpulley said the tradition for Monogatari is always that the OST is part of the BD/DVD package. Same with the OPs.

For most other series overall there doesn't seem to be a high correlation between novel or manga sales and disc sales but in the case of Monogatari this may turn out to be true. Will be interesting to try and correlate them for Second Season and when they do it, Final Season.

As I argued before, a lot of the buyers of Monogatari BD/DVD are LN fans. Many of them are totally into the concept of total entertainment package that the anime supplements and complements the light novel so well that the two have to be taken together. This is also why whenever the subject of monogatari's BD/DVD sales comes up, otaku in forums like 2ch are often at a loss about why it could have sold this crazy amount. And otaku being at a loss of course just goes to show again why the amazing success of Monogatari is not just because of the otaku and pandering to them (which I argued in the past as well).

*7 17,678 Music S.T.A.R.T!! by μ’s [BD LE]
*9 12,983 Music S.T.A.R.T!! by μ’s [BD RE]

Total is 30,661 (obviously higher on Oricon!)... but of course the LE is much more expensive than the RE. The other editions did not end up charting in the Top 20 for Single CDs on SoundScan.

Not really sure which post to quote so I'll just jump right in.
Concerning Monogatari 2nd's music choices, it's actually something I dislike. Bakemonogatari had amazing songs and was consistent in their usage, whereas in 2nd's case it seems to me like the songs are used arbitrarily and sometimes I'm not even sure whether a certain arc is even receiving a corresponding new opening song.

Then again, I might be posting in the wrong thread for that though...

A quick review of first week sales of certain titles compared to their preceding volume:

Monogatari 2S - 39.7k -> 41.2k
UtaPri2 - 19.5k -> 24.0k
Railgun2 - 14.3k -> 15.3k
OreImo2 - 12.8k -> 13.3k
OreGairu - 9.3k -> 6.7k
Date A Live - 6.0k -> 6.8k
KinMosa - 6.2k -> 5.4k (dvd not ranked this time)
F/k Illya - 5.7k -> 5.8k

Interesting to see so many titles actually selling more (at least in the first week) compared to their previous volume when usually the opposite happens.

Not sure what caused it. But it went from 1.1k to 1.8k in just a few days.

Right. A week ago it also got a sharp jump after the latest episode aired but this time it got pushed even higher, finally making it into the top 100.

In fact it is one show that I did not expect I would actually come to long for another episode. I think the CG gets a lot of face expressions pretty well and the stiff body motion is not that annoying. The seiyuu also did a rather good job, and I love the OP and the ED.

It would be great if the boost is indeed something real.

The anime completely caught up with the light novels so there is no source material to make season 3 unless they make it anime original (highly unlikely).

Disappointing compared to Bakemonogatari sure, very, very, very good when compared to everything else.

IDK why people keep lamenting over Monogatari sales. They are still amazing, even if they don't live up to S1. Even if it dropped to below 30k it would still be amazing.

I know right it isn't even surprising after we seen the first volume sales. But I was kind of surprised volume 2 did better abit then volume 1. Usually sequels sell less then their original counterpart.
