QFT. Just epic. I'm glad Tomoya at last pulled himself together. He was so clueless "father" before the end of this episode.

Best After Story episode so far. It was really touching.
Especially, the scene when Ushio tells Tomoya she is also allowed to cry in her dad's arms. I could feel tears coming out.

Looking forward to next episode.

One of the best episodes this season. Ushio was really cute throughout the whole episode and her bonding with her papa was really touching. It was really nice to get even more background story on Tomoya's father with the appearance of his grandmother.

Damn you KyoAni.

3rd time I've ever teared during an anime. First was Kanon 2006 (Makoto) and 2nd was Air (Kanna).

This ep made up for all the sub-par aspects of After Story thus far, in my book.

God I hope that there isn't anymore tragedy... hope they leave it on a happy note, but seeing as there are still a few more episodes go it may just be wishful thinking :S

This episode was just beautiful. I almost cried, and I don't have emotions. The last 3 episodes have been nothing short of masterful works of art and I'm tempted to say this is getting better than last season.

QFT.

Oh, wow... This anime is definitely in my favorites now. This is the third time this anime was made me bawl -- At the end of Fuuko's arc, the episode where Nagisa dies, and this one -- my tears started streaming as soon as Ushio-chan said how the robot toy was special because it was picked out by Tomoya -- her first gift from Papa... T_T I mean, I was actually SOBBING!

In my opinion, probably the best episode of the series (CLANNAD and ~After Story~). And I, too, cried. (that's pretty normal for me though) I'm glad Tomoya's finally getting his life together and moving on. My prediction: It's only getting better from here on out.

I just want to know who the 4 people are who hated it (must be spammers).

Same here except end of Kotomi's route too and a few other places.

This is the first time I cried while watching an anime...in fact, this is the first time I cried in ANY show, and the tears came so unexpectedly I didn't even notice them at first.
The tears first came when Ushio said "There's only one. It's the one you chose and bought for me. First thing from Daddy." and didn't stop until the train moment between Tomoya and Ushio. :'[

Awesome! Just when I think this series can't get any better, it does. So dam emotional. Ushio is awesome.

I think they could have ended the series right here, but there must be something else which remains. I haven't played the game or anything but something has defintely got to give or the next few episodes. I really just hope Nagisa comes back to life (my theory as of right now is that she is trapped in the other world and hopefully and the end of the series Tomoya will go to the other world and get her back, through the help of Kotomi).

First time I've cried watching anything in literally yeaars. Seriously, this was the most touching thing I've ever seen in my whole god damn life. It really is. One

thing about this episode, is that almost everything about it was so perfect that I really wished it didn't end when it did.

I can't get enough of Ushio, and when I have a child, I pray to god that i get the same feeling as i did when watching this. This anime has topped among my all time favorite,

as i'm sure it has for many others. not 11/10, but yes... 12/10. I can't imagine seeing anything else even close to as epic as the end portion of this series. ever. production

values, animation, voice acting,... EVERYTHING was as close to perfect as it can get.

Best post i have ever read so far here on MAL.

To be honest, i have only cried so hard twice in my life (Childhood does not count): the first time was watching Forrest Gump and the second time is right now, watching this episode.
When Ushio asked Tomoya to tell her about Nagisa it was too much. I couldn't stop crying until 10 minutes after i finished the episode.

I second everything said in this thread, and imagine me, I just came from a Clannad marathon, I waited for the whole thing to be subbed and watched it in 2 days... BIG mistake, its the most depressing thing Ive ever watched, Ill take note for future KyoAni animes ^^

And also "It was the first thing I got from daddy" = most emotional moment ever in anime, as soon as she said that and it switched to tomoyas face, I couldnt hold it in, my god... and then it was just crying until the end of the episode

Definitely one of the best anime episodes ever, the emotion is so real, I think theres no one that wont relate to this anime at one point or another

Please tell me something. 5 years have passed? That incredibly long timeline skip, tomoya doesnt seem to have any physical difference. I can't really accept the fact its already 5 years..

Tomoya is only about 24 or 25 now...I don't imagine he would change very much in that short amount of time. Then again, I guess it wouldnt hurt to make his appearence a little bit older looking. I thought he looked his age in ep 17.

He can't be only 24/25 now.. Assuming hes 19 in the first season, we add 1 year for his year in the school. Another year for the time between working and marriage. And then another year for the birth of the child. So hes around 22 now. Five years later he should be 27... Thats really a long time skip there >.>

How could he possibly be 19 in the first season?? You've graduated at that age(unless you're repeating a year). >.< He must be 17 in the first season. In the beginning of the second season hes 18 because hes in the third and last year. Then he works for a year or two then Ushio is born when hes 19-20. Five year time skip and hes 24-25.

It is specifically stated in the game that he's 18 years old when the story starts. So that makes him 21 when Ushio is born, and 26 in the events of this episode.
