So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

As said in another thread, the key thing is SymphogearG v1 sold 9829 BD + 1153 DVD = 10,982 !!! As comparsion vol.1 of season 1 sold 4454 in the first week. Also not many singles this week which is indicative of the break in between anime cours. Album on the other hand is dominated by IdolM@ster and Free, but there are also two from Strike Witches.... |

NeoAnkara said: No, it is way too early. Only around half the series made available for Amazon preorders. And even for those which have already made it into the sales ranking, it is too early for the prediction figures to be meaningful. In fact there are even series that have not yet aired its first episode (e.g. Donna Galileo). I want to ask if there is any prediction on fall anime yet? In the past, there were some polls done in 2ch Sales Thread where people gave their predictions based on the pre-season data like staff/studio, cast, key visual, PV/CM, popularity of the original work (if any) etc but they stopped doing since spring cour, so we do not have that piece of prediction either. I would start to pay attention to the Stalker prediction numbers since all the series have aired at least its 3rd episode. Until then, the numbers in Amazon Stalker are very much in flux. |

So happy for Symphogear G! Symphogear Strikers when??? I hope it might have a decent tail too as store front heavy stuff tends to have. Great for LoveLive! As well! OVA next month then concert and fandisc in December, season 2 and PS Vita game next spring when the single producing machine should start churning them out again. Can't wait! And happy for Kinmoza. Good to see success for Manga Time Kirara adaptations along with Love Lab. Too bad Yuyushiki didn't strike such a chord with buyers. Did the Rozen Maiden OST CD album rank at all?? It came out last month but I guess it didn't rank :'( Too bad, as it is really good! Really, really good! New music from Strike Witches or just compilations??? Must check that out though I hate it when I only hear about things AFTER they rank... |

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

I mean you wouldn't expect the BD/DVD boxes to sell much when the average was 33.8k for the 1st season, unless people who bought the DVD singles may have wanted to upgrade to BDs (max ~9k in this case) or IS managed to gain more fans since 2011. |

Ejc said: Even so, I would say 2.8k or so for BD+DVD sales is still on the low side. Bake sold >78k on average but its BD Box still sold >22k in first week. Now Bake is of course a monster to begin with but the >30k sale for IS is still at least on a minor monster level, it is quite understandable that there were expectation that it would sell at least double the sales number released today. For another series that sold at similar mini monster level, we can also look at Anohana, whose BD/DVD Box sold around 9k. hpulley said: That's what I thought. Might be too saturated for boxed set sales From what I observed, while there are people who bought BD box because they bought the DVD earlier and want to upgrade to BD, most of the buyers are those who found the original package too expensive and gave up buying at that time. This may indicate that IS was very very successful in pulling in fans to buy the BDs, despite its high price, at the first round (which is also my theory of why it managed to sell not just 10k+ but 30k+ even though it belongs to the very niche harem genre) and there are now not that many fans who wanted to buy but did not buy back then that this new BD/DVD Box can hoover up this time. Anyway, Stalker got it quite right in the prediction. It predicted 2.2k versus actual sales of 2.8k. So for anybody who has been following Stalker, it would not come as any surprise.... |

The only thing which really matters for me in this chart - Free! selling 30k! Words can't express how happy I am! Ah, regarding Fall Anime, the titles I hope right now will sell well are: -Yowamushi Pedal -Nagi no Asukara -Kuroko no Basuke 2 -Kill la Kill -Super Seisyun Brothers(short anime) Other first episodes didn't really impress me... Symbv, everyone is asking you questions and I have a question too. I know it's really early in the season and some anime haven't even aired yet but most have aired by now so I was wondering - which anime have impressed people so far, like which first episodes captured their hearts the most? |

It actually sold less than even Nichijou BD/DVD Box so it is becoming a kind of subject for jokes in 2ch Sales Thread now.Infinite Stratos is in there too? Humanity, what are you doing :/ it think the better joke is that the first season has an average of 33,812 for all single volumes |

phoenixalia said: The only series in this season that actually got fans screaming is KuroBas2, but then given most of the fans are dedicated fans (most of them are female) it is not really that unexpected. And their enthusiasm is clearly reflected in Amazon ranking, with BD vol.1 now at #4 and every single volume of the series' BDs and DVDs in top 100. Symbv, everyone is asking you questions and I have a question too. I know it's really early in the season and some anime haven't even aired yet but most have aired by now so I was wondering - which anime have impressed people so far, like which first episodes captured their hearts the most? Other than that, people commended IS2, Freezing2 and LB! Refrain for being as good in sakuga, art, sound and character design as the first season. They also like the sakuga of Kyoukai no Kanata, Yozakura Quartet and of course, Kill la Kill. But people also find the stories in KnK and Yozakura (also Kyosougiga) not so clear - questions like why this happens, what does this person have to do with the other person etc came up quite often. Kill la Kill is indeed got a lot of fans excited but there is no lack of fans who found the fast pace dizzying and the old 90 style design obsolete, so it is hard to say the fans are unanimous in being awed and impressed -- some people clearly have their hearts captured but some are not so sure (at least not yet). Nagi no Asukara got high mark for its art and sakuga (as expected of PA Works) but the NTR-esque story that may drag on and on got quite many not sure if they will watch till the end. Golden Time and White Album 2 got some warm reception but I have not seen a lot of excitement so far. Two anime indeed got quite a lot of "wow, it is better than I expected!" comments. One is Non Non Biyori, with many fans in Japan saying "it is just where I grew up!" "this is the countryside I have been longing for!" or "it brought back memory of my childhood trip to countryside" and many praised its meticulous art and visual. The other is Walkure Romaze. I went to the forum expecting to see lots comments about panty shot and ecchi and boy was I surprised to read almost as many comments about how good the sakuga is and how good they drew the horses and armor (and noting that 8bit actually got dedicated staff working on horse design and armor design for the anime). Just goes to show that no one should underestimate the level of anime fans in Japan. Even in an ecchi anime they won't just look for the fan service but instead they care about the whole package. Other than that, anime like "Miss Monochrome" or "Sekai de Ichiban Tsuoku naritai" (nickname SekaTsuyo) wowed people with the ED (the former) and voice acting (the latter) but on all other departments these two do not really impress people that much. |

I know it's really early in the season and some anime haven't even aired yet but most have aired by now so I was wondering - which anime have impressed people so far, like which first episodes captured their hearts the most? from my opinion Nagi no Asukara = another PA works great series Kill la Kill = remind me of guren lagnan Arpeggio of Blue Steel = great warship CG battle Walkure Romanze = it is ok if you are into princess lover Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai/ unbreakable machine doll = epicnes moe char White Album = decent Log Horizon = good anmation and solid main character Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai = ecchi wrest coppelion = decent ep, but kana hanazawa made :3 Freezing= decent Outbreak Company= moe maid, and now mou same selling anime in another dimension Strike the Blood = decent Golden Time = horrible child hood friend / fiance IS: Infinite Stratos = idiot ichika part 2 Kyoukai no Kanata = o_O so they made chuuni + hyouka+ tamako into blood C ? from other forum Arpeggio of Blue Steel captured who watch 1st ep but I's definetly who will sell well in this season |

We can always dismiss certain things as a "joke" because they go against our standard and preference so much that we just don't want to comprehend or make any effort to understand, but I don't believe that the preference and taste of you and me is necessarily better, which is why I never see it as a "joke" which is something too easy to fall for and yet does not really help in any attempt to understand what moves things in the industry and for the fans.symbv said: morshuwarrior said: Actually people expected the BD/DVD Box to sell more because of its huge popularity and the hype of the 2nd season. While i usually disliked KyoAni show, its first eps was really awesome Its too early to say anything definitive, but Kyoukai no Kanata has had one of the weakest starts for any KyoAni anime and is just kinda floundering around the middle of the pack in the preorder rankings after the first episode. |
