So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

As said in another thread, the key thing is SymphogearG v1 sold 9829 BD + 1153 DVD = 10,982 !!!
As comparsion vol.1 of season 1 sold 4454 in the first week.

Also not many singles this week which is indicative of the break in between anime cours. Album on the other hand is dominated by IdolM@ster and Free, but there are also two from Strike Witches....

Is it spelled as such on the CD itself I wonder? Since I just transliterated the katakana name of the title...

I almost missed Phero Men until I checked further who are in the unit :-)

Shouldn't we at least wait for the first episode of everything to air before we look into that?

Most of the English sites spell like that. At first, I typed like you did when I typed out the news in Kalafina club.

No, it is way too early. Only around half the series made available for Amazon preorders. And even for those which have already made it into the sales ranking, it is too early for the prediction figures to be meaningful. In fact there are even series that have not yet aired its first episode (e.g. Donna Galileo).

In the past, there were some polls done in 2ch Sales Thread where people gave their predictions based on the pre-season data like staff/studio, cast, key visual, PV/CM, popularity of the original work (if any) etc but they stopped doing since spring cour, so we do not have that piece of prediction either.

I would start to pay attention to the Stalker prediction numbers since all the series have aired at least its 3rd episode. Until then, the numbers in Amazon Stalker are very much in flux.

The single jacket does not seem to have the English name on it, but since アレルヤ is indeed the Japanese word for "Alleluia" and it also fits the movie title "Future Gospel (Mirai Fukuin)", I'll change it to Alleluia.

So happy for Symphogear G! Symphogear Strikers when??? I hope it might have a decent tail too as store front heavy stuff tends to have.

Great for LoveLive! As well! OVA next month then concert and fandisc in December, season 2 and PS Vita game next spring when the single producing machine should start churning them out again. Can't wait!

And happy for Kinmoza. Good to see success for Manga Time Kirara adaptations along with Love Lab. Too bad Yuyushiki didn't strike such a chord with buyers.

Did the Rozen Maiden OST CD album rank at all?? It came out last month but I guess it didn't rank :'( Too bad, as it is really good! Really, really good!

New music from Strike Witches or just compilations??? Must check that out though I hate it when I only hear about things AFTER they rank...

Actually people expected the BD/DVD Box to sell more because of its huge popularity and the hype of the 2nd season. It actually sold less than even Nichijou BD/DVD Box so it is becoming a kind of subject for jokes in 2ch Sales Thread now.

It went out on Sep 25th so it belongs to last week's chart. Anyway even the full weekly 300 list of last week does not have the OST album, which means it sold <357 ..

Since it is HimeUTA Collection, it is a collection of character songs (Uta) from the SW movie. According to the descriptions they are new songs. You can take a look at the jackets on Amazon too (look quite good)

I did expect there to be a BD box of IS because the 2nd season was coming up, but honestly I don't even see why people can be remotely interested in IS and proceed to buy it. Just my opinion, but it's one of the worst shows I've ever seen.

Well, I can see why someone would buy it because I got quite excited (or aroused lol) by watching the series. If some people want to get the same experience again by watching the series time and again, of course it is only natural for them to buy the BD/DVD... Besides, from a technical point of view, like sakuga, music and visual arts, I think IS indeed strove above average, so that is another plus..

Can't argue with that. People do (miraculously) enjoy the show and of course they would buy it then. Anyone would do that.

Don't know whether it is miraculous. Some would say that people "miraculously" enjoy the South Park even thought they have some of the "worst" art they've seen, but I guess we can rebut them by saying that they just don't get where its appeal is and let its shortcomings to get to them. I guess it is just similar thing here.

Has the predictions fro Fall season come out already? Been expecting Kyoukai no Kanata to come out on the top. While i usually disliked KyoAni show, its first eps was really awesome

Kuroko no Basket S2 will come out on the top, it's already selling well on amazon.jp and based on recent trends of Fujoshi dominance will almost certainly remain that way. Kyoukai no Kanata is a more artsy series and not something that Otakus will go crazy for, something on the level of Hyouka is probably the best it can hope for as far as success goes.

IS sold 33K copies didn't it? Might be too saturated for boxed set sales.

What sort of reception has IS2 episode one slash OVA had on 2ch?

Have to listen to those Strike Witches PVs...

The sign so far has been KuroBas2 leading way ahead, followed by IS2. Kill la Kill is not yet available for preorder. Kyoukai no Kanata is currently lumped around with Freezing2, YuuShibu and Machine-Doll at #4xx in Amazon BD/DVD sales ranking.

Possible, as nobody expected it to sell *that well*. 10k would have been already an amazing achievement....

Let me recall....
- The art and characters look just as good as the first season (and this is what most people worried about it seems). Sakuga is good enough though not spectacular
- Even the OP/ED have the same feel as the first season
- Seiyuu voices seem a bit changed though
- Charlotte!! Charlotte!! Charlotte!! Charlotte!! Charlotte!! Charlotte!!
- Charlotte is so wise and intelligent
- Charlotte is into yuri ?!?!
- Laura!! Laura!! Laura!! Laura!! Laura!! Laura!!
- Laura's star has definitely risen!
- Swimming suit in ep.1 ? Yay!
- Such a rushed running through the swimming pool and summer festival. So they tried to get us to buy the OVA...
- Great to see all 5 heroines from the first episode
- Saitoh Chiwa in the trailer! She sounded so hot !!!! When will we see her character in the anime?

That's what I thought. I mean you wouldn't expect the BD/DVD boxes to sell much when the average was 33.8k for the 1st season, unless people who bought the DVD singles may have wanted to upgrade to BDs (max ~9k in this case) or IS managed to gain more fans since 2011.

Even so, I would say 2.8k or so for BD+DVD sales is still on the low side. Bake sold >78k on average but its BD Box still sold >22k in first week. Now Bake is of course a monster to begin with but the >30k sale for IS is still at least on a minor monster level, it is quite understandable that there were expectation that it would sell at least double the sales number released today. For another series that sold at similar mini monster level, we can also look at Anohana, whose BD/DVD Box sold around 9k.

From what I observed, while there are people who bought BD box because they bought the DVD earlier and want to upgrade to BD, most of the buyers are those who found the original package too expensive and gave up buying at that time. This may indicate that IS was very very successful in pulling in fans to buy the BDs, despite its high price, at the first round (which is also my theory of why it managed to sell not just 10k+ but 30k+ even though it belongs to the very niche harem genre) and there are now not that many fans who wanted to buy but did not buy back then that this new BD/DVD Box can hoover up this time.

Anyway, Stalker got it quite right in the prediction. It predicted 2.2k versus actual sales of 2.8k. So for anybody who has been following Stalker, it would not come as any surprise....

The only thing which really matters for me in this chart - Free! selling 30k! Words can't express how happy I am!

Ah, regarding Fall Anime, the titles I hope right now will sell well are:
-Yowamushi Pedal
-Nagi no Asukara
-Kuroko no Basuke 2
-Kill la Kill
-Super Seisyun Brothers(short anime)

Other first episodes didn't really impress me...

Symbv, everyone is asking you questions and I have a question too. I know it's really early in the season and some anime haven't even aired yet but most have aired by now so I was wondering - which anime have impressed people so far, like which first episodes captured their hearts the most?

Actually people expected the BD/DVD Box to sell more because of its huge popularity and the hype of the 2nd season. It actually sold less than even Nichijou BD/DVD Box so it is becoming a kind of subject for jokes in 2ch Sales Thread now.

it think the better joke is that the first season has an average of 33,812 for all single volumes

The only series in this season that actually got fans screaming is KuroBas2, but then given most of the fans are dedicated fans (most of them are female) it is not really that unexpected. And their enthusiasm is clearly reflected in Amazon ranking, with BD vol.1 now at #4 and every single volume of the series' BDs and DVDs in top 100.

Other than that, people commended IS2, Freezing2 and LB! Refrain for being as good in sakuga, art, sound and character design as the first season. They also like the sakuga of Kyoukai no Kanata, Yozakura Quartet and of course, Kill la Kill. But people also find the stories in KnK and Yozakura (also Kyosougiga) not so clear - questions like why this happens, what does this person have to do with the other person etc came up quite often. Kill la Kill is indeed got a lot of fans excited but there is no lack of fans who found the fast pace dizzying and the old 90 style design obsolete, so it is hard to say the fans are unanimous in being awed and impressed -- some people clearly have their hearts captured but some are not so sure (at least not yet).

Nagi no Asukara got high mark for its art and sakuga (as expected of PA Works) but the NTR-esque story that may drag on and on got quite many not sure if they will watch till the end. Golden Time and White Album 2 got some warm reception but I have not seen a lot of excitement so far.

Two anime indeed got quite a lot of "wow, it is better than I expected!" comments. One is Non Non Biyori, with many fans in Japan saying "it is just where I grew up!" "this is the countryside I have been longing for!" or "it brought back memory of my childhood trip to countryside" and many praised its meticulous art and visual. The other is Walkure Romaze. I went to the forum expecting to see lots comments about panty shot and ecchi and boy was I surprised to read almost as many comments about how good the sakuga is and how good they drew the horses and armor (and noting that 8bit actually got dedicated staff working on horse design and armor design for the anime). Just goes to show that no one should underestimate the level of anime fans in Japan. Even in an ecchi anime they won't just look for the fan service but instead they care about the whole package.

Other than that, anime like "Miss Monochrome" or "Sekai de Ichiban Tsuoku naritai" (nickname SekaTsuyo) wowed people with the ED (the former) and voice acting (the latter) but on all other departments these two do not really impress people that much.

Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai = ecchi wrest
coppelion = decent ep, but kana hanazawa made :3
Freezing= decent
Outbreak Company= moe maid, and now mou same selling anime in another dimension
Strike the Blood = decent
Golden Time = horrible child hood friend / fiance
IS: Infinite Stratos = idiot ichika part 2

I don't really think it is a joke, but more a phenomenon to look into and understand. We can always dismiss certain things as a "joke" because they go against our standard and preference so much that we just don't want to comprehend or make any effort to understand, but I don't believe that the preference and taste of you and me is necessarily better, which is why I never see it as a "joke" which is something too easy to fall for and yet does not really help in any attempt to understand what moves things in the industry and for the fans.

Its too early to say anything definitive, but Kyoukai no Kanata has had one of the weakest starts for any KyoAni anime and is just kinda floundering around the middle of the pack in the preorder rankings after the first episode.
