Yeah, how dare people judge an adaptation of source material as such, how silly.

But it also can be looked at as a standalone and that's not wrong either.

True. I don't blame people either in this case. They did change quite a bit.

I have no problems with people complaining. I'll admit it - Fire Eren was retarded...I mean...why?
But still when people ask for the entire show to be redone because they didn't show Mikasa looking up at the wall when the Wall titan was revealed is just going past the point of a regular logical complaint and into the realm of fanboy bitching.

I liked SnK, but I think its a little overrated. The ending of the first season was by far a 10/10. The manga is awesome and so is the concept. I love the characters and there are so many feels xD But the anime was incredibly slow and I was very disappointed with a lot of episodes. Like in 24, Eren got one punch in and then it ended.

This episode was incredibly epic though. Eren showed a lot of progress in his character development, and the fight scene was great. The art and the soundtrack throughout the anime was great as well.
Wall titans scare me so much T^T I know there will be a second season because of SnK's ratings and I would watch it, but for me, this anime isn't the best. Even so, I can't help but giving it a 9/10 because of the ending.

Right?

Here's the kicker. If the producers didn't MEAN to follow the manga, they shouldn't have given that impression.

They should have made it like the first FMA show, which had it's own merits.

Instead, they follow the manga closely for most of the first season, even pulling panels straight from it. Then they suddenly decide to deviate in significant ways.

This isn't like the filler material from before, which was ok because it added rather than outright changed. These changes may distort the plot in non-trivial ways.

I wonder if they even consulted Isayama about some of these decisions.

This is a rather anticlimactic ending to the series. And in a sense more than a little frustrating. A significant portion of the season was devoted to this one object of chasing down Annie, and all of a sudden she pulls the ultimate cop-out move of sealing herself within this crystal. Certainly, she won't be able to do much being sealed underground, but all those deaths...

But the last reveal was interesting, to say the least. It's hard to imagine that just one giant is sealed within the wall, so the walls are what? Made up of giants sealed in concrete? I suppose now we can kind of guess at why giants want to break into human territory. Parts of me still feels like we're in a smokescreen though. Anyway, what a masterpiece this series has been! Here's hoping for a good season 2 to finish it off.

The Fire Titan part was directed so freaking badly it was funny.

Actually giving this series a 6/10 because it wasn't a copy paste from the manga is silly.

Despite some of the changes they did, I still highly enjoyed this episode, it had my heart racing from all the intensity. The fiery Titan Eren was surprising, but after all the other stylistic choices made such the lightning thing, it didn't really bother me that much and it was actually quite refreshing. I usually would like adaptations to be as close to the original material as possible, but I like it when not everything is exactly the same either as long as it doesn't affect the overall plot or themes, etc. The anime only contents in this episode were also pretty good, like the MP talking to Erwin about the situation, or even that little blonde girl running by herself.

The few things tht I agree with others about how the episode could've been better is that Eren shouldn't really have gotten out of control like that, but at the same time, I think people are exaggerating how much he went "berserk?" Though still, it was definitely kind of like a backward character development in that moment. The titan in the wall reveal was also not as cool as it was in the manga, though I suspect that it will still be a heck of a surprise for anime-only viewers. But overall it ended quite well, as if it is a standalone anime. I like how they showed the talk between Armin and Jean, and Mikasa staying with Eren while he recovers. And those two birds again, the same kind we saw in the first episode. They tied up anime really well ^^ I do hope that if they do do a second season, they'll change some stuff around in the last episode and put it as part of the first episode, though it wouldn't be absolutely necessary to do so either. I will miss this anime, the highlight of my Saturdays.

Well, bad to break it to some of you, but the anime is an adaptation of a manga.

ANYWAY,

nods and thoughts for the manga-readers, who will increase in numbers from hereon.

So, it begins - Erwin's attack:

This should remind of something and Erwin's ability to flip misfortune to his devices:

Best moments:

The monstrosity and humanity went completely wrong in this episode - Annie's memories were making even less sense to the newly embedded speech of Armin, but what's done is done.

As a manga reader, it's the worst episode of the series.

Now just I finished properly watching the season finale ...

it was okay.
I didn't mind the Titan Eren on fire thing, I was just disappointed that we didn't get to see Mikasa being thrown to the wall AND even though Levi is one of my favorite characters .... what happened to his broken ankle?

When they start up season 2 are they gonna be like, "Levi you going in irritated your injury even more" and then leave it at that? lol.

I am so fucking mad right now, you have no idea. I've defended some of the changes the anime has made up to this point, but they just took a massive shit on the manga and I'm quite annoyed.

Eren as some kind of wacky fire titan are you serious?

Well, at least they still managed to get the reveal in at the end, even if it felt a bit pathetic. God damn it they fucking blew it.

Not going to lie, definitely not my favorite show, when it's epic it's amazing and the soundtrack is brilliant as well, it was used really well throughout the entire season, making most titan fights (although too few of them imo) really epic. Problem is at the end of 25 episodes I still don't give a damn about any of the characters. Its wasting of time during some eps, shocking reuse of some scenes, Annie's unsurprising reveal and sometimes amateurish titan 'rawr' sounds didn't help its case.
I'll be really generous because of the few absolutely epic eps that were done extremely well with the soundtrack. 8/10 But seriously, without episode 7,8 it'd be much lower.

Call me crazy. But it has a low budget.
Still I find SnK more enjoyable than;

Death note, sao, one piece, elfen lied and naruto etc

Never looked forward to the end of the week so much for an anime.
Can't believe that it's over for now.
SnK was the most enjoyable anime I've ever seen.

I don't mind it that they made eren a fire titan but you have to understand it from another perspective, they completely changed it from the manga. I mean Im all for change as long as the story isn't drastically altered, but dang even though I liked it these were pretty drastic changes... Only thing that really irked me was Levi saving eren when he was INJURED...

Great finish. Shame every episode aren't as tight as this one.

Overall, Titan gets a 6/10 for me. I know, it's not a popular opinion, but to me Titan lost it after its first couple of episodes (although the final ones were pretty great). A messy production along with a really slow pacing killed a lot of my interest in the series.

Yes, there were excellent scenes here and there among the many bland episodes, but they can't carry the whole series when it mostly relies on the intense action. The characters are much too flat to make up for it.

It's a shame. Maybe in other hands Attack on Titan would've been the masterpiece everyone speaks of in my eyes. But as it stands, I simply got bored too much of the time.
I have my own anime blog. It's called Anime Viking. Hope you'll you read it!

Manga purists are NEVER satisfied ... seriously, I've never seen one post in the comments thread "Wow, that was a great improvement! They really adapted that really well!" Always with the "they altered panel 5 on page 23 of volume 43, RAAAAAGE". *smh*

Amazing animation, deep characters, killer fight scenes, dem OPs ... and one last mystery to wrap things up. Man I hope there's a season 2, even if it's just 13 more episodes. From what I've heard of spoilers I can't wait to see the other transforming Titans ...

Best anime of the year, I doubt anything in Fall will be able to top this. 10/10.

Ambition wise I don't think you can fault it. Great battles and some intense diologue, but some episodes did drag and the use of stills were annoying at times. So overall I'm giving it 8/10
