So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

He is too busy and as I don't want the delay to be more than one week long (as this week's list is always out) so I help post the ranking.

The manga actually follows the novel in a broad manner. It got a lot of fame (or notoriety) by its abundant use of sumptuous eroticism but fans also praise it for actually following the story in the novel. In vol.4 there are quite a number of gore scenes and characters have grown up just like in the novel and the anime. Of course it rushes things but it still gives a good idea of the story as in the novel.

LOL not going to lie, but the manga is pretty hot. slightly nsfw

I've only read up to vol.2 but I remember the design of the queerats looked more grotesque than in the anime.
LN? I thought it was only a novel?

Nice to see BTOOOM!, Shingeki no Kyojin and Naruto doing well.

Also, you're missing an "O" in "BTOOOM".

Indeed it is more grotesque than in the anime. And I typed too fast - it should be a novel NOT a LN for Shinsekai yori. Corrected.

Thanks for the info. I was searching around to see what more information is around besides the announcement. I'll make a post soon after I am done.

Anyway, this is QUICK. I expected it will be animated sooner or later but I thought they will take time to see how the recently announced manga and LN will do first. Besides the game itself is always undercapacity because of the huge demand. In terms of boosting the game user base, which is one big reason for such animation project, nothing much could come out of the anime project unless they solve the capacity issue first. Anyway, I can see it is something that only an established play like Kadokawa can do, reacting so quick to the boom.

Might as well have everything being released at once.

It's a risk, but it can go extremely well.

Fully agree, but I just think that the critical thing is to solve the capacity issue on the game server side, otherwise one of the main benefits of anime adaptation - boosting the user base of the original game, would have lost. Of course I am sure Kadokawa also looks at other side benefits like sales of merchandise, of the manga/LN as well as potential for other collaboration projects. Yet I would say pulling people into the game should be one, if not the, primary goal of the anime project. Perhaps they have good confidence that capacity will be improved sufficiently by the time the anime is ready...

Wow.. the seiyuu list is so long....

I don't know much about sales and things such as that. Nor have I even heard of Kadokawa before, so I can't really say much.

Kadokawa is a big publishing empire (in general, not just manga/LN) but it is more than that. It is a huge player in light novel, anime and merchandising business, even video games. NewType is published by it. A significant portion of the LN animated are published by Kadokawa or one of its affiliates. It is the producer (either as the main player or part of the production committee) for a bunch of anime, from Hyouka to Summer Wars.

The English wiki does not have too much details but it is a good place to start to learn about Kadokawa, and in Japan you cannot talk about anime business without knowing Kadokawa.

Oh. I recognize more than a few titles.

Yeah, I'm really not knowledgeable on the Anime business inside Japan at all. I kind of feel stupid, them having a part in one of my favourites. Well, more than one.

I don't normally pay attention to who does what, but they seem to have a lot going for them.

In terms of risk, I think they'll be more than fine.

So, Darkness finally falls out of ranking after reaching 340k (275k + 65k OVA bundle), I was hoping for something more (damn you Shingeki for creating high thresholds :P) but it's still very good result! I want to see some Darkness volume reaching 0.5M but I'm afraid OVA bundle is treated as separate entry... In 2012's yearly list there was only vol4 with 460k.

>10, *,*48,294 *,600,864 Saint☆Onii-san Vol.9
It really sells great! Still no subs for second OVA ;_;

>40, *,*23,707 *,*23,707 Shinsekai yori Vol.4
Delicious.

Shingeki no Kyojin continues its amazing run, two-four weeks left until vol4 breaks 2M, will it still rank by then? Probably yes... vol11 spits in Naruto's face, reaching Naruto's yearly maximum in just six weeks (and I'm omitting 275k of vol11 special edition here). Unquestionable #2 with only One Piece above it.

Even the official official guidebook does well.

It's a good time to be a SnK fan.

Hopefully a translation group will pick this up by time the anime starts airing.

Actually, there are already ongoing translations of the novels (and manga anthologies) on Tumblr. Only the 2nd novel has been finished as of now.

Here's a masterlist of KagePro-translated stuff:

Because the previous week is not its first week on sale. Check the Manga and LN Sales threads for earlier weeks to find its ranking at that time.

Shouldn't this be 9th-15th?
Bestselling light novel volumes of the year/all time* (and more in the same club including weekly series ranks etc). <-- No longer being updated. Sorry.
*that there is data for

There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

Averaging over 11K so far which is quite good. Only problem is, he's using the novels as fast as he writes them! A chapter out of 7.5 was already used as the OVA episode! So Wataru Watari needs to get writing! A few more novels and maybe we'll get season 2?

And Wataru Watari just tweeted yesterday that he wants the novelization project of KanColle to come to him lol

Didn't I read that he has a day job too, writing isn't even his main gig or was that a joke or something???
