There's already a thread like this with a somewhat different writing in the question and title. And no poll.
Though it actually asks how many seasons should it have.

But anyways.
As much as it needs to follow and complete to the ending of the manga.

Fuck more seasons or less, that's fucking stupid. It needs as much seasons as it needs. We shouldn't decide. We could guess how many, but don't decide.

As much as the Manga demands, however I wouldn't mind Anime Exclusive Arcs....just as long as it doesn't veer off the main story......or drag on.......

well, suppose each season has 25 episodes - 5 seasons would mean 250, which would be really very draggy(like Naruto) and itd take like years :(. From the manga, it seems he's approaching the middle, and my prediction is that after finding the book in Shiganshina, that will mark the begin of the climax, and that itself wont be the end. So Im expecting not less than 120 chapters. Its only been 4 years and its a monthly manga, FMA took 10 years to finish :(. I hope SnK wont take that long and it wont have a lot needless, draggy portions

Nah, I'm guessing about 3 seasons for the canon adaptation.

Unless you're counting the hypothesized interquel season which would have SnK: Before the Fall and thsoe VNs animated.

Doesn't matter how many season what important is it will not drag the story line further that it can cause to a drop in quality.
And lastly end it in the best possible way
Just like what Ohba and Obata did to Bakuman and also what Ashirogi did to Reversi manga in the anime
(got influenced by Bakuman since I just finished watching it)

Two seasons. It doesn't take us THAT long to get to a house and fight the 10-meter-tall zombies that everyone likes to call "Titans". And a 2-hour-long movie at the end to top it all off if necessary.

Code Geass was two seasons. It was awesome. The first two seasons of School Rumble were awesome. Hayate no Gotoku, which is still [sadly] being produced, has four seasons, the first two of which were also awesome. And as much as NOBODY mentions this show, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes. First two seasons, hilarious. This third season, serious no.

Forgive me for being biased, but two seasons usually dictates a good series. Some are exceptional and run for longer, still equally good. However, as I've learned with anime, drag out the number of episodes and you get stuck with fillers and useless seasons. No thanks. I don't like Shingeki no Kyojin as much as anybody here (I'm sure), but if it's really that good of a series, cap it at two seasons and PLEASE do not turn it into long-time running Pokemon which will only end if Ash learns to grow up.
Just need to find out how to quote this every time so I can dodge the stupid 30-character limit.

Seeing how the creator is aiming to end it at volume 20 with the maanga already being at volume 11, id say about 3 seasons, 2 of them would be double cour while the last would be a 13 ep run. So ultimately the series would be about 60 or so episodes.

it doesn't even have enough material yet for a second season and the author said that he was already at half of his story

in my opinion, if they decide to continue animating SnK maybe with chances if they want to animate it until the end (when the manga ends) we can't get another two season like the first one imo

more? no

maybe ovas of thing the didn't covered (like the one which will come out in december) but I don't really expect anything more, not even a second season because of how much we will have to wait until there's enough material for that to happen

I'm more sure for a third season of KnB than a second one for SnK to be honest

There are no mysteries in SnK.

Just information you dont need to know yet.

The "mystery" in snk comes from your impatience.

At the pace of the first season and the manga ending at 20 volumes there is room for Two more 2-cours seasons. So expect the anime ending in high 60's or 70's episode-wise.

I would really really doubt that it'll be that much. As of the current manga arc, it is mainly consist of battle scenes and they only take like 5 minute in animated form which means the anime would have to burn through a lot of materials = shorter episode. It's doubtful whether the currently released chapter is even sufficient to adapt a 13 epi series.

But to be serious, until the manga ends. But you'll have to wait a bit for the manga to be released so there is enough content available to make into an anime.

No, I mean 10 or so real life generations. Eren stays the ageless hero throughout the entirety of 9,999 seasons and 1/3 or those episodes are spent on exposition.

One of the reasons I started this discussion was also because I remember watching Dragon Ball Z for the first time and although it was fun to watch it was also a pain to sit through every episode when they started doing episode long monologs and pointless stare downs. The fight with Freeza itself was more than 10 episodes and most of it was coma inducing banter. Akira Toriyama (creator) then disclosed in an interview that he was pressured left and right by fans and producers to keep the story going because originally he wanted to end Dragon Ball Z after the fight with Freeza with Gokou dying when planet Vegeta exploded.

My point and concern about SNK, now that it has become the no.1 in Japan there will be fans that would clamor for more and more and it might come to a point Isayama might yield to pressure. I'm keeping faith that Isayama would not be a sellout. Once he becomes like every other writer it wouldn't matter how the story goes as long he keeps his fans happy.

^ He said he wants to write another manga, so I am more inclined to think he won't give in to the pressure by going into endless eights (figuratively speaking). With the VNs and the LNs, the manga-spin offs and the games, they extended the material in different directions, which should leave Isayama relatively free to develop the central plot without unnecessary fan weight.

I'll be very honest here. Snk isn't actually the type of material that can be pro-longed for a very long time mainly because it is very straightforward with the plot and it doesn't have any mini-arcs that are irrelevant to the main story. From the beginning towards the end, everything that has happened thus far are contributing factors toward the story development. Snk is currently the most popular thing in a very long time and it is very successful in terms of sales but let's not push its luck. Snk's popularity is only temporary because of the hype and it just so happen that the anime was released at the right time because of the current trend with the cults in the entertainment industries (the walking dead, etc) [it was a pretty good marketing decision] ; once it die down, people will lose interest in it very soon afterward and move on with something else especially considering how snk is a monthly series. Not too many people have the patience to wait for such slow development every month. Fullmetal Alchemist was pretty popular as well and i don't see the author prolonging the series either.

If a student like me could understand this, i don't see how professional businessmen couldn't comprehend this. So why am i sure of this?

People who keep on making claims that author might be forced into prolonging their series are forgetting one thing, SNK IS NOT FROM WEEKLY SHOUNEN JUMP. A handful of people still hadn't realized this but all the well-known and famous long running shounen series (one piece, bleach, naruto, dragon ball, rurouni kenshin) are from weekly shounen jump. Weekly shounen jump has been known for pressuring their manga artists into prolonging their series more than necessary when it gets very popular or AXE their series when they lose their sales and popularity (psyren, etc). My point is Snk isn't from WSJ so there won't be any chance for that to happen.

First and foremost, this manga is too profitable to finish it so quickly. Even if Mashima planned story for 20 volumes, being under such a pressure surely he will pull it much longer. I guess, we have another new potentat that is on a par with OP or Naruto.

NO!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 SNK MUST NOT BECOME AS REPETITIVE! I sure hope it doesn't go for that long at least. If it somehow manages to keep fresh, then maybe I can accept that. But I'll give up if the series pumps the same thing month after month...

Hajime Isayama doesn't seem like the type who would do something just because people pressured him into doing it. From what i've could tell so far from his interviews and interactions with his readers, he seemed like the type to do whatever he wants with this story no matter who would tries to stop him. I meant there's the case where when he first bring Snk to shueisha(it was actually weekly shounen jump magazine) but they rejected his work and tell him to change his artstyle and story but Hajime Isayama didn't give up on that and just went for another publisher. This to me seemed like he's the type who appreciate his own work and wouldn't change it just for the sake of somebody else. Then there's another case where Hajime Isayama wanted to incorporate the idea of titan transformation even though his editor strongly object to his idea because it will risk losing viewership (which he actually did X'D)but he insisted on doing so and in the end, the editors just let him do whatever he wants. Then there were mixed feelings amongst readers when Eren can transform into a titan so when he asked the readers should he change the storyline then, the readers strongly encourage him to do whatever he wants with the story because it's his own work after all. In many ways, i gained some new profound respect for this guy :3

That's how I'd vote. Right now, its hard to say considering the manga only has enough content for a 2nd season at this point...but the manga isn't anywhere close to finishing.

Yup. I take my own statement back. 3 seasons should be enough to finish SNK. But change of plans might just happen (not very likely at all!).

More like 3 seasons. Isayama said the manga is only halfway through. First season hasn't covered half the series yet, so I don't see anything ending in two seasons.

But then if you consider how a lot those manga chapters are like battle scenes, a lot of materials will be burned through. o-0

Good point. But who knows if later chapters become dialogue heavy? Or if they choose to filler in some parts? Who knows?

Didn't enjoy the extended FT vs Eren fight I take it? I mean those kinds of fillers. Just additions to the action.

I'm hoping about 4 seasons of Shingeki no Kyojin. Seems about right for an anime this big, which has an infinite amount of options for amazing story line.

Come to think of it, Levi won't be in any battle from now on and will have much less appearances. I guess he would only be in one episode in Season 2..
Not what I would be looking forward to, I'm afraid.

and maybe there will be chance that 2 of them will fight together :D

If you are talking about the whole Scouting Legion then there are still Erwin, Hange and others. If it's only the special squad.. then Eren is the only one left.
As far as the story goes, the person that Levi trusts most is Erwin.

I don't know about trust, but he saved Eren from being executed because they (Erwin, him, Hange) believed Eren would be the answer to their prayer.
Bloody comrades.. if Mikasa is still around, I doubt that very much somehow.

But I do want them to fight together. Hm now that I recall, so far there hasn't been any Levi and Eren fighting side by side scene just yet. A tease from the author?

bloody hell O_O
but you are pretty right, Eren is still supposed to be a key about all these things
and
the relationship between him and Levi didn't developed enough strong to be trusted as former Levi's spec.squad
maybe in future, we will see them fight side by side and someone will save one's life :D

about childhood friend, Misaka, Eren consider her to be relatives
but we can clearly see her true feelings to Eren O_o

If it is true about SnK manga end in volume 20, the anime will have three seasons. Sufficient and enough for me :)
english isn't my native language...
