During an interview with the Associated Press, the creator of Afro Samurai, Takashi Okazaki, confirmed a sequel to the 5 episode series is in production now. According to Okazaki, the storyline of the new series will closely follow the end of the first series. Having finally slayed Justice at the end of series one, Afro "loses his way, gets tired of all the killing," Okazaki said. The series then follows Afro as he finally "wakes up to his destiny, which is to be the world's No. 1 warrior." This will also feature a new alluring female warrior as an opponent for Afro.

The next series will be shown on Spike TV early 2008.

In slightly different news, a video game based on the animation is set for release on Xbox 360 in December.

No. Freaking. Way.

That's awesome! I wonder if it'll be another 5-episode run... I wonder what kind of story it'll have... heh, I still have to watch it again on DVD with the 15 minutes of extra scenes and the extended ending...

I already can't wait! ^_^

Well smarty, if you knew then you should have posted something about it. =P
Then I could have known too.

I seriously just found out. But then again, this is not quite my cuppa tea. I haven't seen the first season yet and the only reason I found any interest was b/c all my friends are big fans so I had to tell them and while I am at it why not post here too.

This truly is one of the most violent animes out there. I love the original the from scene one. I'm sure Takashi Okazaki is going to let us down with the sequel.
