| The birth scene was graphic and then turned really weird. Kogan is just crazy, able to tell Irako's handiwork with just a chopped off nipple. |
| The music, pace and the gory scenes mixed with fantasy/ symbolism at times reminds me of Japanese old ghost stories. I feel like I'm watching Kwaidan but with more sense of reality. |

| yeah i think that nipple slicing part was pretty nasty even it was hinted it would be coming. This anime is pretty mature and grim like. Reminds me kinda of texhnolyze for some reason. Also this anime has alot more nudity than I would've perceived. |

Ichi the Killer relies on violence and gore while Shigurui relies heavily on atmosphere and music. |

| This anime gets high marks for its foreshadowing through the use of imagery. Saigen is sleeping with his future mother-in-law His mother is a prostitute Kogan figures out Saigen's betrayal the snowman eyes bleed, possibly symbolizing Saigen's soon-to-be-blind state at the hands of Kogan. The directing in this show is pretty great. I love how this guy uses stark color contrasts to tell his stories. Texh was when I first notice this guy's style, but now that I have something to follow that up with, I'm really interested in seeing where he goes as a director from here on. |

| Another great episode The plot is certainly thickening, I wonder how the sensei is going to handle what Irako did? That must have hurt really bad when he tore off that girl's nipple. Irako is probably going to think up a clever plan to keep everything under his control. |

| As fierce as a hungry tiger, his actions are venomous and grip as vile as spiders. Damn, he chopped off that rice bdsm nipple with his bare hands :o He literally objectifies women lol. Irako put out the misery of his traumatized hooker mom (who wouldn't go nuts when her child crawled up to her stomach the moment he went out?). That snowman was a good foreshadowing of Irako's eventual fate. He has it coming despite what everyone who believed in him including himself says. |

| i have not yet encountered an episode of shigurui that hasn't deeply disturbed me, it pains me to have to skip certain scenes but it's even worse if i sit through them while becoming increasingly nervous and horrified. definitely any anime that makes me feel like this and still manages to make me watch the next episode deserves a medal. |
| The worldbuilding has been impressive. There's not much of a straightforward plot. What's held my interest so far has been the world itself. It's thoroughly realized, and completely unlike anything else. I've been taken aback by how boldly devoid of any happiness Shigurui is. It's so damn cold and alien. |
| I really like the symbolism here,in contrast to many other shows it actually conveys the message better than while using words. As much as it pained Irako,his own fortune is more important to him than his mother,well in a way he also released her. |

| Not much really grosses me out, but that demon baby birthing scene sure the fuck did. Every time I think that I am starting to understand what is going on, I'm confused shortly thereafter. All of this foreshadowing gives me this feeling of impending doom while watching this anime. >.> |

| Okay.. I don't understand, why did Irako have to kill his mother? And wow, sensei can tell that his concubine is having an affair just by checking her body. And moreover, he could tell that the person was Irako. That nipple slicing scene made me ache until I got goosebumps... |
