Light's genius did not fail in reality

Many people don't realize that Light did not prove to be any less genius than N.He was always ahead of Near till the very end and he failed solely because Mikami did not follow his instructions & rather tried to use his own intelligence.Even N admitted that he would not have been able to catch Light if not for Mikami's mistake..That's for all those who think LIGHT failed...What's your opinion?
