| I force my mom to watch some things - usually Ghibli movies. She says she doesn't mind them. Apparently my dad used to watch Kimba and the 60's version of Astro Boy when it was airing on TV. Other than that, he hasn't really mentioned anything about it. |

| I'd say my mother took interest in it for a while and has a deep appreciation, while my father has very little if any knowledge about it. One of my earliest experiences was when I watched Love Hina on DVD out of my own mother's collection. I must've been around 7 or 8 at the time. When I told my father I was going to an anime convention not too long ago, he responded with something to the effect of "Oh. I used to watch anime when I was younger. I liked the Jetsons quite a bit." LOL xD |

| My mom is mostly oblivious to it. She still thinks it's some kind of kiddy thing. One day she made a comment about why I STILL watch those kinds of shows when she saw me watching Mob Psycho 100, which has a unique art style that can be mistaken for being for kids. My father, on the other hand, is somewhat aware of anime and manga. He still has that prejudiced opinion about it. That all anime are like Naruto or DBZ, but when it comes to manga he has a stronger opinion. I remember getting so excited about seeing an AoT volume on one of the shelves and then hearing my father saying, "You like manga?! I never thought you'd stoop this low!" or some shit like that. I have no idea what made him say that. He just thinks that anything that isn't a novel or a film is immediately a lesser art form. It fucking destroyed me. However, that didn't stop me from buying a One Punch volume a couple of years later. |

My dad has watched all Noragami episodes with me (and enjoyed it). He knows quite a lot about Japan and anime, he has some best friends who are big anime watchers. However, he does seem to be pretty caught up on what the big and current anime are from his coworkers. He wants to see Ghost in the Shell, but has only seen the live-action movie so far. As for the anime he likes are Robotech and Gunsmith Cats. My mom doesn't seem to get it or really care, but told me she does not have a problem with liking anime as long as I stay way from the "disgusting stuff" (her words.) |
