The Eternal Heavens Café and SeitenSoushi are proud to bring you:
Our First Mini-Saimoe Tournament!
This is based off the ISML, which you can check out by following the link.
I'm starting off with a smaller tournament so I can see how it all runs. If it goes well, then look out for more in the future!
UPDATE: There will be 8 separate threads for voting - please go there to vote once they are open.
The match schedule will appear below.
The 16 participants for this tournament were selected by our Café members with single votes in The Most Moe~ thread, but from now, all battles will be decided by mass vote in their respective threads. In other words, I am opening 8 more threads where you will be able to vote for your favourite in each battle.
Battles will be open for 3 days, unless otherwise stated, so make sure you submit your vote in time! Each subsequent battle will open a day before the previous one ends, as a means to speed things up a bit, since I know many of you are eager to see more moe~ girls!
This 1st round will be single-elimination, so each winner will immediately advance to the next stage of competition.
I'll also post more pictures of our participants over the voting period because, as we know, you can never have enough moe~ (except in the case of moe~ overload, which may happen here anyway...) Everyone, you are free to post pictures, chat about moe~ or anything else etc. if you wish. I think it'll make it more interesting than just voting :)
To structure the tournament, I've given seedings to all participating characters. A character's seeding is based on the number of member favourites they have here on MAL (more favourites = higher seeding). Of course, this doesn't directly correlate with their level of moe~ but I hope it'll work anyway, hehe.
The seed numbers are shown on the pictures below:

Btw you said you will do this with the poll option. Since the 1st round is a single-elimination round there will be 8 matches right? You can't change the poll at the top (you can change the question and options but the votes won't be reset). The only way to do it with polls would be creating 8 different threads... An other way would be post votes which means more work but I can help you^^

Im having a moe~!moe~!Pyon oveload right now... You did a greate job creating the new pictures.
About the length of the battles ... 2-3 days should be fine imo.
I think it would be good idea to exted the time if we get more participants.

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and use 8 separate threads in that case.
Thanks, it did take a while to put it all together so I appreciate it!
Okay, I'll keep the length at 3 days for now, unless something happens that suggests we change it. This means the round will last for approximately 24 days.

I've just tried to create a sample poll on this site:
And the sample poll.
Hope that helps. Of course, I, on my part, don't see any problems making the polls for the next rounds, if we were to make use of that poll generator.

I've edited the above post. Now, as how I interpreted the mechanics, I believe Phase 1 would already last 3 days, and it would mean another set period of time for the remaining 8 entrants, and so on. If that's the case, I'd really have no problems creating a separate poll for the characters that will make it to the next round.

Okay, you mean have all 16 participants in the vote for 3 days, then at the end of 3 days, the 8 with most votes advance, and so on?
That seems a pretty good idea. I may do the next tournament like that, but I think I'll extend the 3 days a bit so that the whole thing isn't over in a week and a half or something. Unless people prefer a shorter tournament.

That's what I was thinking. But if that doesn't sit well with you, I'm fine with that. I respect your decision. I was just thinking that conducting the matches one at a time might be rather slow, since I was looking forward to this club having another batch of characters for another tournament once the first one's over.
And as to whoever wins the first tournament, are there any plans on making the winning character a card LE/SE theme?

then, how about, as a compromise, overlapping the battles?
To speed things up a bit, but still give you time to familiarise yourself with the characters, what if we start the next match on the last day of the current match?
I dunno. I think it'd be nice if the winner got an LE/SE. Shall we ask some of the Baristas if they're willing to make an LE/SE for the winner?
