I watched the series and i rly enjoyed it. I would like to know if the movies are exactly the same as the anime and if they are worth watching, even if you know the story?

Mod Edit: Made title descriptive.

My favorite quotes from animes:

Those who seek miracles will never experience one. The hand of salvation only extends to people
who try to make miracles happen. - Ef a tale of melodies.
I destroy worlds. I create worlds. - Code geass
We are humans. - Shinsekai yori
100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! - One punch man

The first film is episodes 1-8 I believe and the 2nd film is episodes 9-12, with new animation, as well as few new scenes though obviously with some scenes taken out due to time constraints of a film. The third film will be a sequel to the series and will come out in japan sometime I think in October.

edit

Considering the last film covers 4 episodes which 80 mins and the film last 109 minutes, there should be plenty of time for additional scenes and no need to cut it down. So I think for any fan of the show the 2nd film at least should be worth a watch and with that you should just watch the first film as well.

If you really enjoy the Madoka series, you should definitely watch the movies. It's like watching the anime for the first time. Shaft went quite all out with revamping the animation.

The movies are worth watching. Namely the second one.
(I can't personally speak for Rebellion, as I have yet to see it, but I hear that's pretty much required viewing for any Madoka Magica fans)

I'm going to watch all the recap movies. I need a refresher on Madoka. It's been quite some time since my first viewing. Amaaaaaazing animation so far. 1080p on a flat screen tv >.<

For my first rewatch I watched the tv series again, but for the second rewatch I chose this and man this is the best recap movie I have seen. I don't even know what was cut, and the pace was normal, not ultra-fast like in KyoAni recap movies. And this movie isn't an exact copy of the tv series, it has new things in it (ofc nothing important, but for a rewatcher it really is refreshing to see sth new). Strong recommend.
sorry for the tag but since you are the most recent reply i think you can answer me.

Can this movie replace the first 8 episodes?

@DinoPapiro

The movie is 130 minutes long, and 8 episodes would be ~160? (while second movie is even longer than what tv episodes count up to) I can't remember it exactly after this many months but I was very satisfied with this and the experience was really the same as the tv series gave. So watching movie instead of tv series as a first timer won't spoil the experience IMO.
thabks for the reply, i will have to decide
