I thought that was an excellent, gritty episode.

Guts killing Yurius' son was shocking, especially when he had so much in common with his younger self. A main character graphically butchering children isn't something you see everyday!

Griffith's revelations to the princess were interesting as well, in terms of explaining why Griffith went so far to save Guts on all those occasions. For a violent gorefest, Berserk seems to have pretty deep characterisation.

Guts didn't know it was the kid, he charged without knowing. He realized after stabbing him. Now the question : If he knew it was the kid, would he kill him?

I really liked this episode as it was quite dark and am I the only one that thought it was smart to kill the kid? If he didn't kill him then that kid would have spent his whole life trying to get revenge or something like that.

Wow, in how many series has one ever seen the main protagonist kill a child in such brutal fashion? Even if it was by mistake, it's still pretty brutal stuff.

Griffith's speech on the stairs was a great moment. Now we know why Guts' is important to him.

Gatsu isn't fit for such assassination tasks i think. This one was almost a failure. Yeah, Yurius dead, but his son and most of guards too, and on top of that Gatsu injured and barely managed to escape.
Now, I wonder how hard it would be to find a man with a giant sword and arrow wound in left arm?

An amazing episode.
Im simply in love with the way Griffiths eyes are changing slowly and subtly over the course of the past nine episodes.
The animation isn't exactly anywhere near the world quality...but thats okay.
Because the art itself is beautiful and compelling.
And the story and plot, the dialog driving it is more then enough to push the negatives out of the light.

Guts totally failed as an Assassin.
Props to him for sticking to the job and killing the kid though. Kid was a witness.
Plus how many characters that aren't labeled antagonists have killed children. Not many that I can think of.

hehe I think Guts will live just fine. Now I understand how Griffith considers Guts, but oh boy I was quite wrong about Griffith. I thought he was just a nice guy with an ambition, but turns out he isn't so nice haha.

Holy mothercrappin' fuck. This was one of the best single episdoes of animation I remember watching.

When the kid was killed, my eyes got watery. What a freaking bittersweet moment. It was awesome but I felt so enraged at the same time.

Very well done episode. Guts killing the kid was a dark moment in the show, but I loved the way it made Guts reflect the situation at himself. I think he knew it was the kid, but he was so determined to not leave any witnessess that only after he stabbed the kid he realised what he had done, hence why he tried to comfort the kid. And the dream-sequence was perfect. Whats happening to you Guts?

A lot happened this episode. Loving Griffiths this episode. His dark side was totally badass and that grin he gave when they said even the child had been killed was reminiscent of Light Yagmi.

Not sure whether what Griffiths says implies he considers Guts just another soldier for not having his own dream or whether Gut's ability to move on makes Griffith consider him an equal, which is why he trusts Guts more than anyone else under his command.

Don't understand why the guards Guts didn't kill didn't report the fact the assassin has a sword as big as his body. Kinda a huge giveaway that Griffith was behind the assassination but whatever.

Oh and I need to get my hands on this OST.

Yeah exactly, does he really consider Guts a friend after all or is he just using him?

And yeah Guts is definitely not suited for assassination jobs lol using his huge ass sword for the killing means he's surely gonna be suspect, makes me think Griffith is planning for Guts to take the fall.

Great episode, Guts killing the kid was brutal yet necessary as he was a witness and could have identified Guts which most likely would have resulted in both him and Griffith being executed.

This anime just keeps getting better and better.

Considering that Gatsu does most of his jobs really well. This was probably the most uncharacteristic display of incompetence I have ever seen him portray.

I'm no expert on assassinations but most of that backlash after he killed the general could simply been avoided if he properly covered his face.

He didn't need to charge the kid at all, he only did it because he panicked that there was a witness that saw his face.

Also you have a 10 year old kid was practicing his heart out against his dad, you would think he would of been exhausted, how the hell is he wandering around that late at night.

And the way that Gatsu left the scene, it was like he went through the halls and corridors with the most guards. Like, are you kidding me?

Even I think that Gatsu and Griffith (especially Griffith) would think of a better plan and better back up plan in case of something going wrong for an assassination attempt on the next in line for the throne.

I'm upset because this a obvious plot device to move the story forward and I believe this was written poorly and should of been handled better.

Just unreal how they took a master swordsmen and veteran warrior and made him look like a incompetent buffoon in matter of minutes.

This series until this point was fantastic...but this absurd turn of events considering the characters involved should have not been such a gong show.

Also, can you believe that after Gatsu escaped, hes walking around with his arrow wound in full display when you have soldiers looking for someone who was wounded escaping the crime scene?
I don't blame Gatsu, I blame the writers. Just sloppy!

Now I'm worried, I'm going to see more of this gong show after watching that turd of a sequence.

Guts: As subtle as a train wreck.
Griffith really should have sent Casca. I'm suprised after all that that the plot wasn't revealed, after all, if anyone actually cared they would have been on the search for a man with an arrow wound, and most of Guts companions noticed he was absent. Surely somone other than the scheming bald nobleman would have put it together.
