So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Just a notice: I will be handling the Manga list in this and next 2 weeks

YOROSHIKU ONEGAISHIMASU !!

Some observations:

PapaKiki doing well with both editions charted

The new novel from the new series by NisiOisiN but definitely not on the same scale as Monogatari series.

OreImo LN and OreImo spinoff manga both charted

Last volume of Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and Thermae Romae manga charted

WataMote and SerSer (Servant x Service) already getting anime boost?

BL novels are quite a presence this week:

*5, *17,475 *17,475 Soukyokusen Nijuu Rasen Vol.8
12, *12,524 *12,524 Sekaiichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai Vol.4
15, **9,589 **9,589 Flesh & Blood Vol.20
18, **7,457 **7,457 Inugami no Hanayome Vol.2 Hanayome to Kamigami no Utage

Watamote 4's sales don't seem to have had any boost yet (if anything, they've dropped)
Bestselling light novel volumes of the year/all time* (and more in the same club including weekly series ranks etc). <-- No longer being updated. Sorry.

Pay attention to the title - it is the sales for the past week. Do we have any new manga volume of Naruto published in the past week????

Naruto is far from the most popular manga ever. And the next volume comes out tomorrow so will be on next week's list, not this one.

You have WataMote v3 sales for reference? You know, I did not know WataMote is so popular... (I personally would not have guessed it would make the Oricon top 50 if I were to make a blind guess)

Weird may not mean bad, but it is nothing positive about it either. And my main complaint against you is how easy you make sweeping stereotype portrayal of Japan, anime and the fans in Japan. Hold off such knee-jerk reactions and it would be better for everybody in this forum.

I hope they wait as long as possible for NnT to get an anime and give it time enough to develop the plot and all the characters. I still support this notion, though.

Let us not talk about Mahouka...

Unusually high requirements for the LN list this week as several new things plus quite a lot that came out late last week getting bigger second weeks than their first weeks. That and it being the fourth week since release meant that it was unlikely to rank, and the sales figures for volume 10 are higher than those for volume 9 anyway.

As far as LN sales go, that's good yes.

DxD volume 14 had sold 54911 before dropping out the rankings, which it doesn't look like vol 15 will, but then volume 15 had a LE (I think?) which never ranked, so we don't know the total sales.

Vol 15 is currently the 30th best selling release this year listed on the LN list, whereas vol 14 is 25th. There have been 15 that have passed 100k, from 13 different series (though not all of these are actual light novels)

Incidentally, does anyone know when the last week was when neither Toshokan Sensou nor Biblia had any spots on the light novel list? I can't remember any before this one.

Yes best selling volume so far, with the limited edition released last month it's up to 60k sold.

And yes Naruto isn't even in the same league as One Piece and it's popularity seems to be slowly fading the same way as bleach's has just not as fast, One Piece averages 30-40m volumes a year Naruto 6-7m a year.

The LE did rank, it sold 14,231 copies. You probably missed it because it was released a few weeks before the regular edition.

dont forget the limited edition costed around 50-60$ because it came with a ova episode. which is realy freaking good in sales.

Ah right, I had it listed separately. Thanks for that - I can put them together now. That's total sales of 60217 then, putting it one spot above new seitokai no ichizon volume 2.

edit: what's up with the quote function today?

It is not what you said but what people think you are. Even people who supported apartheid in South Africa would say they are not racist. At the end it is what people think your attitude is, not what you claim you are.

You are being really inarticulate and seem to be unable to debate with clear and well-thought arguments, and can only resort to pointless attack without argument and basis. If you continue posting this kind of senseless remark you are not going to be liked or popular at all in this forum. Please try to think well and post only when you have something meaningful to you, can't you?

To be fair, this one was a quote of Niddhoeggr at the bottom of page 1. I'm having quotes not work properly half the time at the moment as well. I thought it was just me messing up until I saw Ghostbooster having the same issue.

Incidentally, for Servant x Service:

vol 1 after 9 days 68349
vol 2 after 9 days 70446
vol 3 after 6 days 82711

It seems that here, at least, the anime effect has created a sales increase already.

Thanks for the info. This manga seems to have some solid readership. Wonder how SerSer's sales compared with Working!!...

In fact I would say most people learn Japanese from "good sources". Those who claim to learn Japanese from anime are probably not really learning Japanese but just pick up individual words without actually learning the language.

Shame Dusk Maiden is going to end soon...and not even enough material likely for another season. Uh as for the rest, I'm not too surprised. Also still waiting for High School DxD LN 15 to be fully translated soon. The urge of waiting is staggering.

NisiOisiN's Densetsu Series: Hisanden

Is this a new series from NisiOisin? Whenever this guy writes something, there is a chance it can be adapted into an anime, or at least I feel that way.

What is this series about? Does anyone who has read it want an anime adaption? If anyone knows, then please share.

Shame Dusk Maiden is going to end soon...and not even enough material likely for another season. Uh as for the rest, I'm not too surprised. Also still waiting for High School DxD LN 15 to be fully translated soon. The urge of waiting is staggering.

Yeh i know dat feel bro. But volume 15 is just short stories so i can wait, more excited for the next volume!

Awesome results for Servant x Service 3! Picked it up myself last week, good stuff!

Is it the highest selling 4-koma these days? I honestly can't remember the last 4-koma that ranked at all other than Servant x Service but I must be forgetting some. Certainly all the other ones I buy never seem to rank.

And good for Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. I look forward to the epilogue chapter this month and wonder if there will be more as otherwise tankobon 10 will be quite thin, only chapters 43-45 plus epilogue. Bought that and Joker which has the better bonus cover for it.

That's good right? Not really clued up on what good sales for LNs are.

As far as LN sales go, that's good yes.

DxD volume 14 had sold 54911 before dropping out the rankings, which it doesn't look like vol 15 will, but then volume 15 had a LE (I think?) which never ranked, so we don't know the total sales.

The LE did rank, it sold 14,231 copies. You probably missed it because it was released a few weeks before the regular edition.

when the anime air, it will Boosts LN sales.
probably will hit 100k

NisiOisiN's Densetsu Series: Hisanden
Is this a new series from NisiOisin? Whenever this guy writes something, there is a chance it can be adapted into an anime, or at least I feel that way.
This is already the THIRD novel for the Densetsu Series. The first is Himeiden, published in 2012 April ( http://bookclub.kodansha.co.jp/bc2_bc/search_view.jsp?b=1828290 ) The second is Hitsuuden, published in 2013 February ( http://bookclub.kodansha.co.jp/bc2_bc/search_view.jsp?b=182855X )

What is this series about? Does anyone who has read it want an anime adaption? If anyone knows, then please share.
From the introduction of Himeiden it is a kind of hero's quest story filled with boundless imagination, curious humor and surprise developments, about a 13 year old boy named Sorakara Kuu whose normal life came to an end when an odd-lookin girl Kendou Kenka appeared...

Added back. This is a new edition for the good old Twelve Kingdoms. It seems it was dropped in some late editing. My apologies.

@kuuderes_shadow I thought we talked about the much earlier (and ranked) release of the LE of HDxD last week but perhaps you already forgot.. So the total of v15 is 14231+45986 = 60217 which means it is already above v14's last known sales figures.

The last volume of Hidamari Sketch sold 77k release week, after 5 days, rising to 104071 after 12.
Bestselling light novel volumes of the year/all time* (and more in the same club including weekly series ranks etc). <-- No longer being updated. Sorry.

I think Hetalia is mainly 4-koma? I think it beat SerSer by quite some margin:

From 2012 Jul 30 - Aug 05 list:
*3, *,165,910 *,166,134 Hetalia Axis Powers Special Edition Vol. 5

Hm... a bit lower than the sales for Honoka's one. Wonder if it only have 2 days of sales counted compared to 4 for Honoka's one have anything to do with the ~600 sales gap.

Next up is Kotori's... wonder how that will do? And I also wonder how Maki's one will do when it comes out eventually, haha.

But the Umi result is only for TWO days.... I am sure Umi should be able to sell >600 in the 3rd and 4th day of release, particularly given all the amusing and adorable illustrations and story (apparently the yuri vibe in Umi's Diary is strong) circulating on internet, as we discussed in the Love Live thread in this News Board...

Now the joke in 2ch is whether the Kotori's Diary can beat Umi in Yuri-ness when it comes to Honoka LOL LOL
