The most recent volume of Dorohedoro revealed that the next volume, the 19th, will be the last volume of the series. Creator Q Hayashida has been working on the series since 1999, running in Ikki Magazine.

Viz is currently releasing the series in the U.S. through its Sig Ikki line.

I hope she does more manga, she's amazing and I crush on her hard.

Good excuse to get back to Dorohedoro, it's really like nothing else I've ever seen before.

Aw well it has been looking like it will come to a close soon. Still will be sad to see it go, it's been one of my all time favorites :)

Dammit need to find something new to replace it then q.q

Endings mean new beginnings. I look forward to all the new series that will replace the old ones.

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

The end is pretty logical at this point of the story, I'm not surprised about it.

But I want a good ending, with a kiss between kaiman and nikaido, a love full of gyoza :p

It's been pretty clear that it's coming to a close soon for a while, I think.
I'd rather it have an ending than end up pointlessly dragged out.
I can't wait to see whatever Hayashida does next though.

So now I can actually start reading it, good!

I wonder though can we expect an anime (or at least ova) adaptation to it? I mean manga is ending, so anime will have proper end aswell plus manga itself is popular enough.

I doubt it and would be incredibly worried that they'd butcher the artstyle due to lack of budget. It would have to be an OVA unless you want shadow censors everywhere in every episode. At least in that case it would be ok on the BDs. As much as I'd love a good, faithful anime with an actual budget I doubt that'll happen so it's probably better it stays as just manga.

Some manga's just can't be adapted into an anime without turning to utter shit (remember the Blade of the Immortal anime?). Dorohedoro is one of those mangas.

It's a masterpiece of artwork and storytelling, enjoy it for what it is. An adaptation would just subtract from it - you can't add anything to perfection.

You know how Alan Moore has low opinion of the film adaptations of his comic books? Because he drew them with the specific intention of showing just how strong of a medium comics are, and that the stories taken outside of that medium are pale shadows of the original?

Dorohedoro is one of those mangas. It's greatness can only be obtained in the perfect medium for it - manga. This isn't one of those books/mangas that are written/drawn with the specific intention of the author his worked to get picked up for adaptation and make more money.

I'm repeating myself, but an adaptation will only greatly diminish everything that makes Dorohedoro a masterpiece.
