1) Yaoi/Shounen-ai -> I'm a guy, so this is natural for me to avoid.
2) Sports -> They get too dramatic and boring for no reason at all.

Hentai....It would be a shame for a girl like me watching anime porn, besides I'm way too innocent for this and it is out of my league!

I tend to avoid harem/ecchi anime just because the constant fan service every minute of the anime and the generic plot irritate me in the end (but I admit I enjoy reverse-harem). I also avoid watching anime that had traces of incest- it was hard enough for me to get through OreImo- I only continued watching because of Kuroneko and Saori- I don't know how I'd get through S2 without breaking my laptop to millions of pieces. Also, I was saving watching the rest of Photokano for the end of the season but
just made me drop it. Maybe I'll pick it up again another day.

It used to be sports, untill I've seen Kuroko no Basket and One Outs.
Now I can't really think of any genre that I would strictly avoid. I usually just read the sypnosis anyway.

I like to keep sex and anime separate from each other, unless it's part of a comedy. I also hate romance in general.
sexual incest in nisomonogatari - no one bats an eye
romance incest in SAO - everyone loses their minds

It was probably why I hated Attack On Titans anyway. Either that or it's overrated, tick the box.

In order from top to bottom:

1. Ecchi, for obvious reasons.
2. Horror. I'm not fond of scary stuff.
3. Romance. Too many of them are cliche, contrived, and boring.
4. Military. Can't understand this stuff or politics to save my life.

You can take a look again of how much Shoujo anime are highly regarded despite generally not having badass music, ultra mega amazing art or mind-fucking plot.

the answer is simple. it's more interesting than real life sports + attractive characters and good soundtracks.

Plus, it defies logic.

For example, a basketball player that can erase his presence, all the crazy shots in PoT, etc.

Then again I don't really pay attention to genres. If an anime sounds interesting, I'll watch, genre be damned

Ecchi, Yaoi/Yuri, Genderbending, Harem and especially Tsundere-based.

Why? Because Ecchi, Yaoi/Yuri, Genderbending are GROSS! The characters in ecchi animes severely lack personality. They're all cardboard. Genderbending is Japan's sick way of trolling with our sexuality worse than how Capcom like to screw us over with the whole Poison bullstink. The less I say about Yaoi/Yuri the better. Harem, all I can say is this, "Blame Negima and its disappointing ending!" Tsundere-based, its OVERLY cliche and downright annoying. Not only that, I ABSOLUTELY hate tsundere characters with a passion, minus the few that I find likeable and tolerable. For example, Saber (Fate/Stay Night), Kyo (Fruits Basket), Shakugan no Shana, Asuna (SAO), etc. Sad thing is, we barely have tsundere like this because everyone wants the abusive, self-centered buttwipes that don't know the meaning of the words "kindness and remorse" to others around them. I hate those little turds!

Yaoi/Yuri/Shojo-ai/Shonen-ai all turn me off. Can't help it, I don't swing that way. Now, if you're playing them for laughs, I'm cool with that.

Harems with one girl and many guys don't pique my interest either, no matter how funny they are. I'll take my traditional harem.

Slice of life, but I'll change this soon.
I usually avoid them because they seem boring, but without having ever watched any, I can't really know.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Why? A lot of Ghibli films are real masterpieces, like Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, etc.

EDIT: Actually, after a look at your list, you need not answer that, I know why.
