Evangelion TV is mediocre and incredibly angsty with a lot of pacing issues and a cast of characters that are mostly developmentally flawed and/or incredibly unlikeable. Not to mention the pointless symbolism, the psychology that makes no sense in a real world context and the TV show's godawful ending which almost completely ruins the entire thing. However, End of Evangelion is fun watch even if it does nothing but overload you with questions when you want answers

Eva Rebuild started off promising. The first movie did a great job of re-creating the first 6 episodes. The second movie was absolutely amazing. It didn't have the 2deep4u bullshit and the terrible characterisation. But what it did have was great action scenes and Asuka. Two things I can truly say I liked very much about the show. Plus the direction made a lot more sense than the show's and the character's motivations seemed much more realistic. Then 3.0 fucked everything up.

Anyway, those are my two cents. I'm not sure if I'd recommend either but take from it what you will

So basically The first Evangelion is better. When a guy like you, says with that description those kind of words that's exactly what am getting.

not even a question worth asking

tv eps 1-26 (with directors cut 21-24)
then EOE (25+26 and EOE happen concurrently, 25+26 is within shinjis head during 3rd impact, EOE is whats actually happening)

then rebuild 1-2-3

rebuild 1 is pretty damn good, 2 is fucking amazing, and 3 completely and utterly drops the ball in every sense of the word. heres hoping to a massive retcon in 4.0 to invalidate 3/0's existence

rebuild 2.0>>1.0=EOE>NGE (tv)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>3.0

also, take this, you'll need it for EOE

The original all the way. The movies are moving way too fast, and 3.0 is fail.

Watch the Rebuilds.
Better animation, no whiny bitches, better action.

NGE and Rebuilds have different stories though.
As far as I know they're in an alternate universe.

That is the worst advice I have ever seen someone give. You are dumb.

I can't belive there are people who prefer the Rebuild to the original tv show.

Just watch it in release order.

1. The original TV series. (yes, even ep 25 and 26 which a lot of people seem to hate)
2. The End of Evangelion.
3. And if you're still interested now is the time to watch the Rebuild movies

I much prefer the original anime series.
I watched the rebuild series right after the anime series and I wasn't too impressed with it since I've already seen most of the scenes from the original series. Especially 2.0, I was led down by that movie by how well received it was but at least the new scenes made it worth watching.

Watch the original first (including EoE) then watch the Rebuild movies, though take a break between the two.

I took a stupid watching route and watched rebuilds first, because I was hesitant to watch old, crappy animation anime and heard that the movies are awesome, so I watched them first.

They were absolutely awesome, especially 2.0 and they got me interested in the original series. So I didn't wait for anything and gone to the series right after.

And I can say that original series are a bit better. Because it explores the characters way more, gives depth to them, while movies lack character development and that makes it kinda worse than original series, because i thought that the characters were the strongest part of NGE.

But the rebuilds are nicely animated, has tons of action and really good. But original series is still a must watch.

I should of took this advice.
It would of helped improve the enjoyment factor I had with the Rebuild movies since the movies felt underwhelming after watching the anime.

Watch the original, just for the sake that its the original and the one that got most of the fan base started.

- Both are good.
- Both are equally confusing.
- Both have similar useless main characters (Shinji)

And don't forget the most important one...

- Both will leave you temporarily mentally ill after finishing. More so the Rebuild, because the wait for 4 is steadily claiming a silent victim day by day.

Why did they only involve episodes 1-6 of the first season in the fist movie? Thats my question as well did they even remake the rest of the episodes or just a few from each season?

You are (not) understand, if you watch the 3rd movie. So it's better if you watch both of them.
