For real.

Also, quotations. Some of them don't even make grammatical sense and, of those that do, many are just awkward.

"What is this place? Where am I? Wherever it is, it's completely dark. I can't even see my own body. It hurts... Which way is up? Which way is down? Where am I supposed to go? Someone help me." - Soul Eater Evans (Soul Eater)

I can't stop laughing. Thank you, Evans.

Yeah, that's what I felt when I was on Hummingbird.

Evans must be trapped there too.

Same. A little competition never hurts and since Hummingbird plans to implement a Visual Novel list, it does have planned features I'm going to like.

Hm, well I had never heard about it until I read this post and I just joined. I don't know how I feel about it yet because I don't much care for the layout and design on the site, but I'm going to give it a try. I'll still be using MAL though because of the updater.

Whoa, it seems Evans was visiting the Hummingbird forums.

They need to fix that layout soon.

Edit. Damn you Immahnoob

You can import your MAL list on hummingbird.

I read in one of their threads their goal is to have everyone drop MAL and switch over. They are still new and there are a few kinks for them to iron out but I think they're motive is mean.

Well, considering MAL is never going to have an update and is going to be stuck in the current crappy lay-out it has, I don't see how it is mean to take their idea and improve on it. Although you don't know, MAL has hardly known any improvements for almost a year and a half (from what I know), the only thing they did is fix the illusive search function.

Woah! They moved friends to a tab as well. Don't forget about that.

You forget, we did get the Buy @Rightstuf button(which isn't useful at all), the social networking site widget thing, and they moved the friends tab. All things that we didn't need or want though. Though moving the friends tab did make loading profiles faster.

Also... Saying MAL will never get an update is not pessimistic.

But unrealistic.

It'll take time, Xinil takes his precious time, in-between counting the passing clouds and running naked on the streets of California (Don't ask me how I know, Xinil, I stalk you), he has no time for such petty things like updating MAL.

I actually created an account in Hummingbird just now and I admit, the website layout's pretty clean and simple.

The list system is like a more refined version of the one here in MAL, but it has a counter on how many days, hours, and minutes you've spent on watching anime based on the runtime of the anime. I prefer that than the time counter here on MAL since I don't really take note of the days when I start or finish watching anime.

I find the forum layout quite annoying though. It's just too stretched-out that it would take forever to scroll down and finish reading more than 3 pages of replies. The font's too big, and the line spacing is too wide.

I'd probably switch over if they'd make the site feel less like Facebook (*cough* cover photo *cough*). MAL's still my first home nonetheless.

Well we've also had all those cookie and lag problems or whatever.

MAL does the same thing, using the runtime of the anime to get your total time. They just don't put it down to years, months, and hours, they just keep it at days. but with some simple math you can find out how many months it's been.

They're planning on changing the forum. And I believe they want it more like facebook, it's supposed to be a social anime website.

I guess their choice of bright popping colours etc, but I used the "s to say well, it's not exactly my vision of modern. I mean compared to this, the site looks eye candy and popping but you're correct on things being big.

It doesn't bother me nor does it look ugly. If they could tone down the size, then it'd be perfect.

You can find a code to register I think and you can export your lists from MAL
Yes you request an invite and then when you check the status you can use the code ANICHARTNET to get in fast.

It looks nice, though too modern for my taste.
I will check back once in a while, but it would have to offer some seriously amazing features for me to switch, like wiping my ass or something...
Besides the rating system is stupid. I find even the 1-10 scale insufficient sometimes, and on Hummingbird there are three cutesy smileys to rate anime... Unless I've missed something.
Here it is, though you might not be able to see it. I believe they have hentai disabled for people not logged in.

Currently it is the 1-5 star system or the 1-3 smiley system. But they are going to keep the star system but make it a 1-10 system by using half stars.

Hmmmmm, I guess so then. There goes my 2 problems. Thanks you 2 :)

Of course, I still don't intend to choose one over the other if I can just choose both.

The site basically has no forum rules since it's still in the beta so there's only like 6,000 users and not even like 100 use the forum. He said all is basically ok unless you post porn.

lol that "What anime are you watching right now?" thread is actually one I made.

The community is kind of small right now, but I think the forums will be more fun once it has a larger user base.

I love Hummingbird. The layout is nice and the people who mess with it talk to you about upcoming changes and participate in the community.

But I'm not leaving MAL, at least not just yet. I like MAL. The more people to talk to and the more places to visit the better right? So why quit one for the other?

It's too fancy and quite complicated to use, it took me a while to figure out how to put things on my list and then whenever I did figure it out it took me forever to update everything, but I will still use it anyway.

i dont feel very good about hummingbird tbh. the site isnt too bad, but it looks ripped in lots of spots.

for instance compare these 2...

look familiar?

basically exactly the same except he removed the music titles to make room for the taller anime box arts...

http://i.imgur.com/0z9EvH0.png

i cant find the preview i saw of the profile pages but its basically exactly the same as this 2... even the current ones are almost the same u can see. even exact same colors. of course its very like crunchyroll too but not ripped at least.

it seems like the "designer" cant think for himself at all. there are a lot of other minor things that look ripped as well but those are the 2 main things. the site also seems very sloppy on mobile, i dont like it at all. n e way i will be sticking with MAL.

Doesn't really appeal to me.
The major thing I enjoy about MAL is the active community and Hummingbird doesn't exactly have that yet. Another thing is the interface, but I'm sure I could get used to it over time.
I always find simplicity best which is why I enjoy MAL forums.

I imagine it will get a bit more packed once it's open to the public, but as of right now the forums feel dead to me compared to how active it is on MAL.
