10, the anime could have a great plot but depending on characters it can all go wrong

As long as the characters interest me, that's all that really matters to me. The rest can be average or even subpar.

10, because if an anime didn't have characters it would suck.

Character development is probably one of the most important things. I can't care what happens to the characters if I don't get to know them.

Characters are probably the most important aspect of a series, there are some very rare instances where I have found a series interesting enough to keep me going despite hating characters (Hence why I didn't rate it a 10) but they are very far and few between.

10/10 The characters are the story.
If the characters are crap, the story is crap. Simple as that.

Cat Soup barely had any logical characters at all, and it's still one of my favorites.

However, School Days suffers from AWFUL characters (before last episode) and is one of my least favorite anime. There are worse animes with better characters though.

Overal it just depends on what you get out of the actual experience, but I gave it an 8.

10, becoming attached to the characters is usually the deciding factor of whether I enjoy an anime or not.
