Otome visual novel producer Otomate and its parent producer IDEA FACTORY, announced in a fan event, Otomate Party 2013, that the otome visual novel "Juuza Engi: Engetsu Sangokuden," will get an anime adaptation. The visual novel, with Tei Dai's characters design and Nobuo Uematsu's music, shipped for PSP on May 24, 2012, and the following is the synopsis: The Juuza. That is the name given to those of the 13th Zodiac: the cat people. Seen as a vulgar and contemptuous race, they live a life of seclusion away from human eyes. However, as the end of the Han Dynasty draws near, the rise of the Yellow Scarves has thrown the land of the Three Kingdoms into turmoil. As armies converge, a young Juuza woman named Kan'u and her village are forced out of their peaceful lives as Sousou and his punitive force press their way into the village. So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Soundtrack on the website is nice. Characters have lovely eyes. Age period is my thing. Will probably watch. |

Male and female anime otaku buying and supporting power are equal since loooong ago. |

ThangLong said: Not sure about the answer to your speculation. However, the buying pattern of the female fans may be quite different from the male side. For example KyoAni decides to release the official guidebook for "Free!" at the same day when the anime starts airing, much earlier than the usual time when an official anime guidebook is released. It may be to help the female fans to study the characters to help them create fan-art and fan-fic that would not veer too much away from the official design (e.g. personality, hobbies, fashion taste, relationship etc), and KyoAni may deem such fan participation to be particularly important for promotion of this anime. Many studios suddenly decide to cater to female market all at once. Maybe female audience is where the industry's growth will be; and male's total dominance in anime is coming to an end?! |

Another otome game? If they really want to please the girls, I'd rather have something more serious or josei than this kind of things... I'll watch it only if I'll like the seiyuu cast è.é |

Let's just hope this one won't be treated as Hiiro no Kakera was treated before. Speaking of beautiful soundtrack where Nobuo Uematsu contributed, NORN9 ♥ However I guess the major news at Otomate Party was K getting an otome game, no? |

Pretty smart on the guidebook for Free! Social networking has been good to increase awareness and popularity for an anime. In addition, female fans are highly enthused in making fan-arts, fan-fics and such. Thus, we can expect the explosion of Free!'s images everywhere My speculation is the feeling I have seeing bits and pieces in the industry moving in one direction. The gap between male and female buying power is definitely closing even in blu-ray side as evident by the current successes of female's catered anime. |

Woow. So many Otome Visual novels getting animated. I actually like that more Anime for girls is being made. I think guys instead of complaning everytime there comes something should learn how to deal with adaption for the other gender. I´ll say after the announcement of Free! which isn´t shoujo but have Bishies certainly was bad. Beside Character design is good and the Music on the website is really beautiful ^_^ |

That reaction to Free!, was actually by people with homophobia... not really from the more tolerant guys. It is a good sign to see that the imbalance between male and female orientated anime per season is getting smaller... However, I think the actual reason why there isn't that many anime aimed specifically at females right now and in the past, is because it is more risky to do so, as many shoujo manga and otome game adaptations have not done very well. There are some exceptions such as UtaPri, but that one already had an established fanbase from the games. |

I kinda don't understand myself anymore...Before, I'd be glad to check out such anime which have reverse harem genre or which have many bishies...But lately, as soon as i see that the male lead is a bishounen in an anime or a manga, expect me that I won't even try a single episode or chapter of it...Seeing that many Otome Visual Novels are going to have an anime adaptation, it doesn't really interest nor excite me...It's probably because of certain shoujo manga that made me not like bishounen characters anymore... |

Having more anime that caters to the female audience is a good thing, but it doesn't help that I find pretty much all otome adaptations to be fucking horrible. |

If I read it correctly on Twitter, Maon Kurosaki did some theme song for the game. I'm not sure if this is the sort of series I'd enjoy though. |

I'm conflicted. I want more otome anime and otome games to get popular but at the same time the adaptations sometimes make me want to cry. But still, there is something that comes to mind. Hiiro no Kakera, Arcana Famiglia and AMNESIA all sold/selling very poorly so I thought that no more otoge would be animated because of the poor reception. But, no, Diabolik Lovers was announced and now Juuza Engi. So, I think that even if the anime don't sell well, they boost the sales of the games? Which is a good thing because the games are great! Sanguis said: Having more anime that caters to the female audience is a good thing, but it doesn't help that I find pretty much all otome adaptations to be fucking horrible. Took the words right out of my mouth. The only otoge anime I really like were UtaPri, La Corda D'oro and Hakuoki. |

I'm happy that studios give a chance for more anime targeted at the female fanbase but all of the otome adaptations have been very bad. Visual Novel adaptations in general don't tend to be good. Even UtaPri as an adaptation is bad since nearly all of the content is anime-original (Haruka is a decent heroine in the games and doesn't do so many stupid things e.g in Syo's episode this season) but it works because it maintains the comedy. And why this otome in particular? Even if it gets butchered, I would love Clock Zero having an anime. Or the recent Norn9 which has an interesting story although it's the type of story where you get the plot after you play most of the routes. |

I agree with this as well. And yes, studios/people have a tendency to butcher good/respectable heroines. flamingo-chan said: And why this otome in particular? Norn9 was JUST released so it's probably too early for that one. Clock Zero on the other hand...same reason why Wand of Fortune didn't get an anime either? |

Wow after Diabolik Lovers, we now have Jyuuzaengi. Not really a fan of period themes but becaause it is otome I'm still looking forward to it. I love otome games having adaptations but I can't help but to lower my expectations for these. i'm still not losing hope though, I'm still waiting for a good otomege adaptation. |

That'd be interesting, I have especially high expectations for the latter. Of course there's teita's art too, but I think having multiple heroines would translate better into an anime than to go with just one. |

Reminds me of Saiunkoku Monogatari. Anime set in this psuedo-ancient China period is my thing :) The characters don't look too bishie-y and the music sets a good mood. I'll definitely be trying it out. But please, PLEASE don't make the female lead a mindless dunce. That's all I ask for :'| |

But it depends on how they portray her in the anime...look at what they reduced Felicita from Arcana to. I'm praying that Production I.G does this anime. I hope. |

No one wants to watch a dull, lifeless heroine. Felicita was just wrong... and don't get me started on the one from Amnesia! Heroines should be strong, like Shuurei from SaiMono... ♥ :3 |

UtaPri makes it up with the comedy and the really sweet moments with some of the characters. But yeah, Amnesia is just plain bad. The game was amazing, but they decided to butcher the story and it ended up as shit. Otoge are just really popular with female otaku, which is why they sell better and are more towards anime adaptations than shoujo/josei manga are (this is what I think). Anyways, this sounds good so I'll definitely give it a watch. Praying that it won't turn into a shitty OVA series like KuroKin. |
