Unwitting future prediction of the day: "Most of the heat resistant tiles on the Columbia have fallen off!" I was really surprised at that. Although in real life it was the heat resistant foam that caused the Columbia to explode... :P |

| This is one of my favorite of the Bebop eps and really an amazing feat by Watanabe. To compress so much awesome into 24 minutes is astounding and I feel like he really knows how to use Hollywood-type direction and mix it with his own style. This is also the ep where Spike says my favorite line of his for the second time and since I first saw this show back in college I've always wanted to know what it was in Japanese and now that my Japanese is alot better I can finally understand it. He says: なるようになるか。 or "naru you ni naru ka." Literally it means "it'll become the way it becomes" but the subbers I saw translated it as "whatever happens happens." So good. The essence of Spike. |

| One more episode showing off Spike's fantastic personality! But this was more about Spike's ship than anything else, Sword Fish. And did it suffer! The Space shuttle take off was freaking epic, and the pic at the end was a brilliant touch, instead of showing what actually happened. See You Space Cowboy... |

| I was stunned when the old geezer actually OWNED a space shuttle. Since hyper-spatial zones exist in this future, guess buying a space shuttle is as cheap as cars...huh. However, the main impress-factor of this episode would be on Spike's mentality and his adept even in dire situations. While this is definitely not an original concept, with characters being skilled and talented and all, it is Spike's nonchalance and collected composure in the face of such a disaster (atmospheric re-entry is no plaything, watching enough Gundams will make one clearly understand) which seriously defined this episode. ”Well, whatever happens, happens." Oh yes, a befitting end to the pirates. Once again, the Bebop cast never get their bounty again. |

| It's weird seeing the Columbia space shuttle being used for this episode. It sadly blew up a few years after this was made and took the lives of a few astronauts. RIP Columbia crew. |

| Good episode! Tbh i kinda forgotten about how Jet's old ship is actually called Bebop XD I think they did say the name of the ship was Bebop and Spike's own swordfish. Also for those who bought the Funimation BD. This is the worst episode of the bunch in terms of quality. Seriously, DVD scenes all over the place. There's only like one or two BD scenes when Jet and Faye were talking as well as that old man and his assistant. Rest of the scenes, fights, chase scenes are all freaking DVD scenes. I have the JPN BD's and the funimation one are just plain embarassing. I do not know why they used their own shitty encodes instead of using the JPN remasters and just sticking the English Audio and subs. It's disappointing really. The JPN BD did have English audio and sub. Only reason i bought the US one is because i love the box and wanted to get the artbooks. Oh well you get what you pay for i guess. Can't wait for the next episode! |
