I don't read manga at all, so I don't really know too much about Ga-Rei, but I watched Ga-Rei -Zero- and fell in love with it. I was wondering if anyone had heard any news about them possibly taking the actual manga and making a 2nd season of the show. I did not even know there was a manga and after episode 12 I thought they left it open for her to hunt down that white haired kid. I really hope they make a 2nd season and it should be an adaptation of the manga since I think Kagura is the main character in that.

I do know Ga-Rei Manga is still running and consists of two arcs. The first one is Kagura vs. Yomi (what we saw in the anime) and the second one is Kagura vs.some sort of sect. Still, I haven't read the manga, so I do not know how much close the story of Ga-Rei Zero is to the manga (from what I've read, it has taken certain liberties, but it is pretty close to it.)

I'd like it to continue since the story is really good, but still, what I liked about the story is how this friendship ended as a warzone and how two girlfriends ended up paired against each other. I dunno if the next season could stand in the shoes of this one.

According to what I read from manga fans' posts, the anime took certain liberties with the backstory but tried to keep it close. That said, the anime's timeline is right before the manga and the very last scene is apparently the first chapter of the manga. So it means the sequel is almost mandatory. I would actually be a little dissapointed if they didn't plan on doing the sequel in the first place (what's the point of doing a prequel to expand the backstory if they won't adapt the actual manga?). They will most likely wait a bit before announcing it, but I would keep my fingers crossed for one.

Well, I see the main series is imminent. I hope they will actually show it on anime. The manga looks like it's done, so maybe when the time is right, we'll see the long-awaited Ga-Rei. Not Ga-Rei -Zero-, but Ga-Rei itself.

Till then, we read the manga or watch some other anime. I'd like to see the older Kagura and many characters in anime action. Hopefully, by the sequel will appear by this year...

From Wikipedia

Originally, it was announced that the anime would be an original story, suggesting that it had nothing to do with the manga except its setting; however, after the first episode aired, viewers were confused as the entire cast was suddenly killed off. It was only later revealed in the second episode, and still later in a radio interview with cast members Minoru Shiraishi, Kaoru Mizuhara & Minori Chihara, that the anime in fact tells the backstories of Yomi and Kagura before the events of the manga thus making Ga-Rei -Zero- a prequel which hence explains the 'Zero' in the title.

This is a prequel to the manga. So there's a high chance that it's not going any further then it went. I got really attached to the show. Looks like I got some reading to do then.

Don't jinx it. We have to believe it will come. D: I became attached to this show too. I've been looking for anything Ga-rei related lately. Pics and music etc. I want a sequel so bad. D:

they should be making a 2nd season because they the ending at the last scene when you see the micheal 12 and the monster, you see is at the beginning of chapter one and end of chapter 3. so if they make an anime, it might follow the manga (maybe a bit and change some stuff) which might be awesome and i wont say anymore cause i feel like saying other stuff which may be a spoiler
What should I put here.....

So if they don't anime it, I'll be rather disappointed, because I adore the anime but the manga....neh.

How well was Ga-Rei Zero recieved in Japan because that's going to be the biggest factor on wether their going to return for a second series.

I personally would love to see the manga animated. Though I'd like to see a bit more focus on Kagura and Ken's relationship. In fact I think there would have to be quite a few changes made to make a second series work in context with the events of Zero.

Anyways, I wanted to ask about Ga Rei-Zero... I just finished watching it, and was wondering if anyone knows if there would be some kind of second season where they start off like in the Manga?? I'm really hooked and so I'm hoping that there would be a second season...

I really don't know but I hope so. The manga is just the aftermath so it should be possible to another season. Plus int he last episode it showed a scene from the first volume of the manga.

I believe the anime was supposed to give a background to the manga. To explain everything. I don't think the anime needs a 2nd season... Although its something i'd bookmark x2x10^5 xD

>.<

Hope you got that lol, nerdy joke but whatever.

Anyways. I am going to begin reading Gai-rei Manga. Because of the fact i have been hooked on the anime. For me, That was a heartwrenching last few episodes.

I don't think it will. The manga is there for the story afterwards. Maybe they'll adapt but hopefully after it's finish so there is no crap about fillers and all that.

Although i would watch a sequel, i would rather that Kuu-scans would just pick up the pace on translating the manga. I mean they are almost a full volume behind and i lack the ability to understand Japanese. I see the possibility of them being able to make a sequel but it depends if that actually something the author wants to do and if Ga-rei Zero did well in japan. They don't really care at all how it does on the internet as they get no money for it...

As for little changes that would need to be made if Ga-Rei now that they changed its back story a bit, i don't think it will be a problem. The manga is vague at times of how exactly the events in the past went down, so a little change won't be a problem.

But really my main wish is that Ga-rei would just get translated faster, because i feel like they should be nearing the end (actually i feel like they already missed a very logical ending after the second arc, luckily the third arc drew me in...). So many mangas i like are all seeming like they could end very soon... unfortunately they are all monthly so soon could mean by the end of the year...

I'm not too sure about this series having a sequel. To the honest opinion, manga was worse than 'zero'. Anime somehow overcame those negativity of manga, such as meaningless fan services, forced comedy scenes, and lack of ideas on fighting. (They look like more zombies compared anime which had large range of monsters.) It was joke manga. But... Ga-rei Zero.... it was dead seriously and ending was amazingly done. Personally, that first troll episode was also not bad at all.

Though, if second season is to be come, I would like to see some completely different plot from its orgin. Ga Rei manga and Zero had immense amount of differences, so it's little awkward to change that 'serious' mood into the 'comedic' mood of manga.

I wouldn't say Ga-rei (manga) has "comedic" mood. It certainly has funny moments but mostly it's rather sth like drama. For me manga > anime but still i wish they would make sequel (true adaptation of manga). Just change Kagara's voice cuz i won't stand it anymore ;p (the whole time i was watching Ga-rei Zero i was telling myself - "Don't worry, she is a child, her voice will change when she grow-up" and then the last ep shows up and her voice is even worse. ARGH! ;p)

I doubt anyone will go out of their way to inform you, or even remember you for that matter.

The only possibility for a sequel is a manga adaptation.

Hah.... wow! 2 years past since I last posted here and still no news of sequel out yet =/ (Technically should be just pure Ga-Rei, since this prequel is Ga-Rei: Zero) About 24 Episodes of a series would seriously be a joyful 480 minutes of blissful life.

i hope for a sequel! i didnt watch the anime after the 1st ep and im not too interested into yomi and kaguras relationship, seen it too much in the manga but i thought the manga was amazing and they should of just adapted that at the start! just my opinion and i wonder if they do the sequel that they copy the ending or expand it a little since it was obviously rushed

It was frickin epic! But yeah they really did leave the end sort of open for a possible sequel. I really have an inkling to see that white hair kid get beaten up by Kagura.

I finished the anime in 2 days and the manga in the next 2 days. It was breathe taking. Loved it SO MUCH.
The anime was so brutal on the heart in terms of all the pain Yomi went through. I felt the manga made lighter of that dark/painful feeling but overall it was still amazing.
And as stated above, I truly believe that the manga could make a great second season to GR:Zero and would LOVE to see that piece of sh!t Mitogawa get destroyed for the pain he put Yomi (definitely my favorite character in this series, and top 3 in all of anime) through. D;

As big of an asshole as he is, I have to admit I kind of like Mitogawa. He just teleports around, wrecking havoc on the world with butterflies, dropping one liners, and generally not giving a fuck.

I'd like a sequel, but it would be hard to beat the first one.
Since, the relationship between Yomi and Kagura made this so good.
