| You should post the reasons you like the respective anime. Make it interesting. 1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Words don't do it justice, you have to see it. It promises an epic fight every episode, growing up Gainax style, and it hearkens back to the hotblooded earth-to-space fights like G Gundam and Voltron. It also has the greatest message ever, and the final episode is one of the largest, coolest fights you'll see in anime. 2. Hellsing Ultimate. Not the TV series. I suppose it leaves something to be said about an absurd budget, but the animation is consistently amazing, and it stays true to the epic manga... and the fights. And who doesn't like Nazi vampire zombies for villains? 3. Serial Experiments Lain. Psychological anime is always my favorite after action. The animation is a little sketchy and old-timey, but the intrigue and interest and sheer confusing aspect of this series is very cool. 4. Cowboy Bebop. Great jazz soundtrack, great action, great characters, Space, it has everything. 5. Fullmetal Alchemist. I didn't start to appreciate how good this series was until I saw some other action anime. This one soars above many. It watches like a good fantasy book. That is, it makes its own world, it constructs its own rules and complex characters, and even has a form of magic crossed with science. The intrigue, politics, and action help, and the "final bosses", if you will, are also complex characters which quite surprised me. |

| Following skizz's example here :P 1. Great Teacher Onizuka The greatest comedy of all times. Easy to watch and hilarious characters, Onizuka's struggle to become the best teacher ever is my most favorite anime. 2. Hikaru no Go Never thought that an anime about a boardgame could be so entertaining. After watching some, I couldn't get enough of seeing the characters playing Go. I'm one of the few that thought the matches were a bit short I guess :P Aside from all the boardgame action, this anime has one of the best character developments I've ever seen. 3. Hellsing Ultimate Very entertaining fights, and Alucard is probably the coolest vampire ever with all his special powers. And as skizz said, nazi vampires for villains :P Only drawback to this anime is that it is quite sometime between the episodes :/ 4. Kino no tabi The whole concept of having no general storyline and just do a different story but with the same characters every episode always have appealed to me. Kino no Tabi provides that with a very good and interesting story with each episode. 5. Howl's Moving Castle Not sure if movies were supposed to take place in the list, but I'll add this one anyways heh. Howl's Moving Castle is in my opinion the best of the Studio Ghibli movies in my opinion. I loved the relationship between Sophie and Howl, and art of the flying castle is awesome! Honorable mentions; Code Geass, Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, Karas, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Toki wo Kakeru Shujo. |
