Novel author Hirasaka Yomi has announced on his official website that a live action film project of light novel Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai has been underway. Information of the project has been leaked by a recruitment ad for the extras of the film. He said the premature leak of the project was quite uncool and regretted a little about the decision about the film he made two years ago. However, he has been worrying about the future of the light novel market and expected that the live action film would bring new fans to the industry. He has been aware that many of Haganai fans object to the live action film, and he asked them "Please ignore what you don't like instead of attempting to disrupt it."

Can I still dislike Aku no Hana?

I don't believe it's a bad idea. Most fans will be scared of having their favorite characters in a ugly 3D form though.

I'd prefer to uphold my right to criticize something I don't like instead of turning a blind eye to it, thank you very much Hirasaka-san. You have proven the quality of your work repeatedly, nothing good will come of this.

Erm. If I remember right Yomi Hirasaka is female so using "he" in the text is somehow incorrect

Please no 20yrold> actors and actresses. So sick of seeing adults wearing school uniforms everyday on TV here. And no idols please especially AKB. I want professional or amateurs with potential.

Oh the hell with it. Just give us the next novel and third season.

This.

Honestly, I don't care if they make a live action version of it. I'm not going to watch it.

Well said.

I might check it out if it looks OK but I'm not expecting anything good out of this lol.

Reading a bit from the Hirasaka's statement, it looks like he's expecting it to suck xDD

About S3

Judging from how long it takes her to finish 9th volume we have only 2 options:

1. Wait 2-3 years till there would be enough material
2. Hope that the novel would be finished on 9th or 10th volume and we'll get movie or OVA-series instead of S3

So who's going to play Sena?

On that line of thought, who is going to play Yukimura?

There has to be a season 3 before a live action movie is done, in fact this can only mean bad things to come, if this went in the direction that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya went with a bad ending, then a movie fixed the hell outta it and made me buy the movie, it would work, it would help with the hype and the fact that its a romantic harem comedy had me loving it from the first episode, if anything, make a climactic anime film so it can sell better or just finish the series, I really can't picture real life 3D teens pissing about and having fun in a club room be entertaining in anyway in real life, there are things in anime that real life people just cant do, the only expectations I have for this movie is that it's gonna fail, highly doubt it'll live up to the comedy of the anime.

Even if I wanted to give it a chance, its not like anyone would sub a live action movie. So it might as well not even exist in my mind.

Let's just hope they don't end up rotoscoping this, then I would put it off for good.

Highly hypothetical though.

i mean i love the anime, it's great but there is no way they can make this the way that fans enjoy it.

It was just a thought, hence my "highly hypothetical though" statement.

Like me saying "What if they made a rotoscoped version of BokuTomo?"

I think the most interesting role in the live action would be Rika. o.O

This is going to suck dearly, and I like the anime, I understand Hirasaka's concern, the LN market is slowly stagnating, it's just Haganai is not the series to be adapting into a live action, there's a charm factor of seeing teenage and preteen anime characters having fun in a club, live action doesn't do any justice. A 1-2 hour anime movie would've done the series justice even if it didn't follow the LN.

You're all so negative. Let Hirasaka-san try it out and see what it gets.

I don't think I'm going to love it either but I at least respect her decision to try something out for a spin.

Wiser words never spoken. Not that I intend to watch any live action adaptations of anime, but that's where simply ignoring it comes in.

A rather odd candidate for live action though. I mean it could work but... is the novel audience interested?

He made that statement due to all the rage about it when the movie was leaked yesterday.

I saw, but internet rage != there's no audience. The internet will rage about anything. I'm just wondering who their expected audience is, if not novel readers.

People who never heard much less read or watched of the series before. I still can't see this movie causing a gain of new LN readers.

Quite unexpected.
I liked Hanaganai (though due to its mistakes I only gave it a 6), but I don't really know how to feel about this.
I probably won't watch it though. Mainly because I can't see anyone doing a better job than Hanazawa Kana (Kobato) and Itou Kanae (Sena).
Which reminds me, I should watch NEXT soon.

Also, this:

It doesn't necessarily need to cause a "gain". Simply by being there, it will do it's job of raising the popularity meter. Maybe a few people will be interested in the anime and LN version, and that might cause them to buy and see how it really is.

Part of the charm of the show is that all the girls are extremely cute, which I doubt they'll be able to reproduce. The story itself isn't THAT good, specially when you take it out of its format.
