| So dreams do come true after all ♥ Hirakawa Daisuke joining the main cast, added just more joy for me. My heart honestly flutters whenever I hear his voice. Look at them hot boys at the anime official website and again I wish if they were older dudes. Is it only me or they are floating above the pool? Reminds me of my glitchy video games. That main dude Haruka looks somehow like him. And look at you MAL hating whenever a show like this is announced. You don't surprise me enough. |

There were many people who wanted this to be turned into an anime before the announcement because of the swimming theme :O I'll watch it for both, so chances are high I won't be disappointed if it's not like other sports anime (or manga) I've enjoyed~ Btw, if it's adapted from a light novel, is the original's title "Free!" as well? |

| You people... None of you HAVE to watch this. It isn't mandatory, so please do take several chill pills. Now, I'm a guy (as in male) who loves and cherishes Haruhi. I fell in love with season 1 all those years ago, stuck with season 2 through Endless Eight, was destroyed emotionally by the movie, bought all the English novels, etc. etc. What I'm getting at, I want Haruhi S3, like, a lot. But this is good, too. Oh no some well-known studio makes an anime you aren't interested in. Just get over it already. I wasn't interested in Tamako Market, and would rather have seen them do something else. You know what I did? I did not watch Tamako Market, and neither did I bitch on and on and on and on and on about it. KyoAni don't owe you anything. Neither the studio nor the industry are going to perish just because they didn't make Kawaii Moe Uguu Series #5007. Nichijou and Tamako Market flopped, yet they continue to make things. If Free! flops, life goes on. If Free! is successful, life also goes on. KyoAni are doing an anime that appeals to females (and the occasional gentleman). That's really all there is to it. Summer 2013 is going to be awesome, tho. Between this, Neptunia, and Monogatari Second Season, I'm already super duper excited. |

I love Haruhi too, I'd love for a third season, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy whatever other anime appeal to me in the meantime. Chill. |

I personally am excited for this adaption, even if a new season of Haruhi would've also been nice. But if it doesn't appeal to you or interest you, FlashFumo is right that you aren't obligated at all to watch it. No need for hate either. Just walk away and that's all there is to it. Of course people have their opinions, but it doesn't have to be put in a way that hates on anything or bashing on/offends anyone. All seriousness aside, I'm pretty excited for the new upcoming July airings :D |

| Just a small announcement, in hopes of people to stop assuming things. "Free!" 4koma, announced in 2010 and used as a cameo in some series, serialised 2011, and selected as one of the 4-koma Manga of the Year 2012 by Subarashii Hibi. "Free!" anime appeared under unpublished work in 2011, around same time as "Free!" 4koma, under the name "High☆Speed!" and was a secret animation project of KyoAni for a long time, dating atleast to the time when "Little Busters!" was being worked on. We do not know IF KyoAni is responsible for temporal shut down of "Free!" 4koma. It is only speculated, but otherwise NOTHING is known nor said. Here's official statements on the matter currently: Start quote: Hello everyone, this is GAN. Today I have something to tell you. Uhm, I already said something in Kirara Max so there might be people who already now but... The serialization of the 4koma manga "Free!" will be suspended for a while. I'm sorry for all the people who had fun reading it every month... I'm really sorry. We are currently in an "unavoidable" situation so I can't tell any details about it yet, I'm sorry. Until then we'll eventually provide an explanation. However, it has nothing to do with my physical or emotional health (even though my back is pretty bad), neither did I lose motivation or ideas for jokes nor anything like that. Also I don't have any plans to end "Free!" at this stage. So, I'm very sorry for causing any problem but I'd be very grateful if you could wait for a while. End quote. Thank you for your time. |

| I think the problem is when people complain and flame about how this show is going to be full of BL fanservice... when there's no way to know that at this point in time. Will this show spawn a shitload of BL doujinshi? Absolutely. Will there really be any basis in canon for it (beyond the characters being attractive guys spending time together shirtless)? Can't make that judgment just yet. |

| @jmal and others - sorry for not replying but I fell asleep during fri/sat night (it was 2 or 3 am here) and when I woke up thread was already censored. jmal said: Difference is, other KyoAni shows don't focus on bodies of their characters while half of Free!'s PVs consist of shots of swimmers' ripped figures. I think it's logical to think there will be plenty of scenes in pool? They're basically fanservice. In Free! there's much more focus put on how characters look. Just look at this:Progeusz said: It rises a question - why is the show about swimmers? Answer seems pretty clear - to show half-naked wet boys with good build. Sure but does that make it a fanservice show? It sets a target audience and some expectations for the premise. But if you allow for that line of thinking to define the show before it's even aired, you have to accept all those arguments stupid people make about every otaku show with cute girls in it being "a fanservice show". Personally I only classify something as such if it's something like Hyakka Ryouran or To Love-Ru or Kanokon. Note from the director of Free! (AKA Swimming Anime) The themes of the anime: friendship swimming AND UPPER BODY Especially the UPPER BODY Don't forget THE UPPER BODY The director wouldn't stop talking about how important their upper body and chests are. Also, they have different staff just for water. Water will be very important. Character development will be very important as well. Edit: ANOTHER NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR- Upper bodies are filled with dreams. Don't forget to stare at their chests and shoulders. If there's one fanservice show made by KyoAni, it's surely going to be Free!, it can't be compared to other anime made by them. Those guys are going to run around half-naked every episode showing off their ripped bodies, it's swimming club after all. In the past, there was much less of fanservice, like one episode a cour. With huge amounts we're surely getting in Free!, I seriously doubt it will be as tasteful as in Hyouka when we got such dignified work of art: http://i.minus.com/ibpbWO994KY4Y2.gif Honestly, I'm more worried about quality than gender of characters. jmal said: That's what interested me the most. Thanks.Do you know Japan's reaction? I heard it wasn't too warm, just like in the West. The reaction we'd be able to find out the easiest would primarily be 2ch's, and 2ch is very male and rather homophpbic. Their reaction is about as relevant for this show as it would be for, say, UtaPri. So I think the answer is, you'd have to gauge the reaction from the people the show is actually targeted at. FlashFumo said: I lasted four pages of this thread until I gave up and vomited. It's both amusing and pathetic just how angry people are about this anime even existing. I, for one, am going to watch it once it airs, and mostly likely enjoy it. EdenBaggins said: These posts are more offensive than most of others shouting "gaaay" which got deleted. Nice double standards. You know what's retarded? Saying that an anime that hasn't even aired yet is plotless or "so gay it hurts" or hating something because it's loved by fujioshis or targeted at women, or plainly hating something for no reason at all. Downgrade355 said: I hope you'll get banned someday for all this obnoxious reporting.Holycrap you're back AGAIN with the exact same pointless posts? i wonder how many times the mods will have to delete your comments till you leave this thread for good. reporting again.
