I read mostly Shoujo, and only the long running Shounen, plus I'm very picky, as in PICKY as fuck when it comes to drawings. I easily drop manga when the drawings are a pain (unless the storyline is too damn good)

My FAVORITE:

KARAKARA KEMURI (Donten ni Warau, etc.) - Shounen

DnW is GOLD, currently underrated but is going to be an anime sooooooon! Karakara-sensei makes me drool everytime I look at the drawings. My mouth is literally open. (not the whole time, lol. I need to squeal too) Every character, be it minor ones are very distinct, the BG, the little things. Every page is full of beautifully drawn detail. This is my perspective as someone who has been drawing for years.

It's best to see for yourself *wink* *wink*

RUNNER UPS!

XIA DA (Choukakou) - Shounen, GenBender

She's chinese (obviously) Her drawings too are drool worthy at times. The drawing is simply elegant.

YAMAMORI MIKA (Hirunaka no Ryuusei)

It's a popular shoujo manga lately. If you think about it, the plot is pretty generic and I guess one reason it has a lot of fans is also because the drawing is very distinct compared to other shoujo. Characters are styled really well and variety is key. The mangaka pays attention to clothing and accessories which makes the characters feel more "real"

YAMAKAWA AIJI (Tomodachi no Hanashi)

So underrated. Needs more LOVE. I was reluctant to read the manga because the drawing looked pretty old? But the more I read it, I realized how it's very edgy and the style really suited my taste. Damn, I really like those liiiiiiines :3

SAKISAKI Io (Strobe Edge, Ao Haru Ride, HAL)

Popular. Yes, because of the awesome story lines she's made. But the drawings are also top notch. Still has the shoujo feels but she's got to be one of the best in Shoujo.

MAKI YOUKO (Pika Ichi)

getting there... I just... I can't... the style is similar to mine... only way better... like... TT_TT I love it.

NOTE: Don't under estimate those one-shots. There are hidden gems there. kekeke~

I like what Tite Kubo does with his character designs. The eyes, the nose, etc.

Besides that Oguure Ito (Air Gear, Tenjou Tenge), Jin Hwan-Park (The Breaker) and Takeshi Obata (Death Note)

And people might hate me for this but I don't really dislike Eichiro Oda's art (One Piece) at all. Here's an Obata-style version of the One Piece characters.

Although it's gorgeous it's just not the same anymore (kinda dull).

Hayao Miyazaki, his panels look just like his movies.

Kentaro Miura, Berserk. Black and white has never looked so gorgeous and brutal at the same time.

Hiroaki Samura, Blade of the Immortal. I made the mistake of watching the anime first. The beautiful style of the manga does not translate well to the anime.

Katsuhiro Otomo, Akria, that is all.

Eiichiro Oda, One Piece. As much as I love him and his work, I'm not sure I would put him in a legendary tier as the others I mentioned. However, unlike most weekly shounen, he usually puts a lot of detail into backgrounds. There is never a ton of white space in his chapters like other weeklys.

Masayuki Taguchi. His art has an exaggerated yet realistic feel to it, and it's very clean.

While she's not technically a mangaka, I'll have to go with Sang-Sun Park. The details that she adds to her drawings are amazing. I haven't got a pic, just look up "The Tarot Cafe". (Yeah, I'm a guy but I'm not afraid to say I enjoyed The Tarot Cafe.)

As much as I like Kentaro Miura I have to go with Takehiko Inoue. The attention to detail, especially when it comes to drawing faces is second to none. The guy is a true master. If Takehiko Inoue and Kentaro Miura made a manga, were Inoue would characters and Miura would draw everything else it would be the best looking manga ever lol.

Personally, I'd say Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Robin and Brook look far better in Obata's version, I'd say about even with Luffy, Franky and Chopper while Usopp looks outright hideous in Obata's version.

Itou Ogure alias Oh! Great I think have the best talent on drawing.
Let's put the fan service aside. His character looks really cool and deep, it's fit for most of the reader taste.
For background and coloring, he is good on it, but maybe you will not seeing something special bcs most of the mangaka is powerful in term of background but if this is about coloring beta, he did it very detail and nice to see.
In battle scene, he draws the way they battling in the best point of view, you can compare it with most popular battle manga like Naruto, Bleach, or One Piece
The last is about art; It would be better if you see by yourself

Kaoru Mori (Otoyomegatari, Emma), hands down. She gives so much attention to details in her drawings and has the unique ability to restore the atmosphere of a particular historical era (Middle East culture, Victorian period).

This is a great thread, I'll need to check these manga out…

I would nominate Hayao Miyazaki (in his one great masterpiece, Nausicaä) and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin and Venus Senki) as the mangaka with the finest visuals. It's worth noting that Yasuhiko doesn't make drafts in pencil, he goes straight to ink—now, that's talent!

I think Amazume, Ryuta deserves a mention.

Really great detailed art style, only issue I have, is the character faces, are too similar and not distinctive. Very erotic, even by simple blushes and breathing nonetheless

For now the best drawn manga I've seen is a work of Masasumi Kakizaki, and it's Hideout.

Look at that, it's groteque, but so detailed, it's beautiful even though it's disgusting and ugly at the same time. Amazing!

I'd love him to draw more similar horror stories like this one.
