THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Dat face!

A funny episode imo. The military parody part was kinda funny also and the part where Mahiro pats on their heads was cute ;)

Oh and cool dragon. I want to fly on its back tbh.

Mahiro's warming up to Hastur. It's good to see him being nice to somebody for a change.

Toshokan Sensou reference in the first half and I'm shocked and glad at Mahiro being so nice to Hatsur as he had his bad hair day.

A ride on Shantak looks to be fun.

Was that a To Love-ru Darkness reference that Kuuko said in the 2nd half of the episode?

Alaozar and Celaeno nice Derleth's references among others :)
I was kind of worried that they would go with mostly manga/anime referecnes but this doesn't seem to be the case.

It wasn't as fun as previous episode but had more of a plot so it's good... not to mention all those Hastur's adorable moments - maybe yaoi ending is coming ;) he isn't as intimidating as rest of them

I lol'ed at Kuuko's choice of reading material and how Mahiro is used as a support character to boost the "stats" of them. A bit more plot in this episode but still enjoyed it.

References I gathered so far:
Kamisama no memochou (this one was obvious)
seitokai no ichizon (rather hidden when nyarko promoted that one classmate (whatshisfaceagain?) to student council president
Diverse references to RPGs and tabletopgames in general
I want Rambo in a mecha-suit with a laser-chainsaw gun that fires nuclear warheads, fighting the love-child of Predator, Alien, a group of Bangladeshi terrorists, and Satan. (Actually that would be a pretty sick show) - StopDropAndBowl

I liked the first episode more than this one. Not enough of the crazy IMO. I missed like all the references this time. Only caught like one.

Whoa, is Kuuko masturbating?

Looks like the only thing that Nyaruko and Kuuko would even think about killing Mahiro, if he finds out about their age.

Hey, has anybody notice that purple head maid from ep 1 being in the library?

I wonder if Hastua is a girl who dresses like a boy, or is a a boy turning into a girl?

Lewd Kuuko is best Kuuko.

The references were a bit more subtle this time but ones that popped out to me immediately were GJ-bu when Mahiro was brushing Hastur's hair and Kuuko's "Our troubles are always darkness" which should be a To Love-Ru: Darkness reference.

I was thinking of that too. But I am not too sure Yami or anyone else has said that.

Mahiro almost went to far for the girls there when he was asking about their age never ask a woman about their age it's a scary thing to do.
Even the computer crashed out of fear.
Nyaruko trying hard to seduce Mahiro ones again i wonder when she will succeed.

Kuuko is reading a book about breasts (and increasing their size), or at least that's what I gathered from it.
And Hasuta was way too moe this episode... >_< Especially the hair scene, dunno why. Maybe cuz I love it when my gf brushes my hair like that, hahah. ^^'

Tho what was up with that Shantak orgasm...
Also, as far as red-headed perverts with pigtails go, Kuroko > Kuuko.

Well, he did smile when he was being 'forced' to pat them all on the head, and he seemed genuinely concerned for the two girls when they got kicked around during the fight. He just really doesn't like how strong Nyaruko comes on to him and it seems to him the only way to get her attention in such cases is to be forceful. (shrug) To me it's as much her fault for not considering his position as it is his fault for how he reacts.

In case anyone else is a Lovecraft enthusiast: the god at the end is Zhar, who together with Lloigor forms "The Twin Obscenities". The location in Burma is exactly how it was described in the 1932 story by August Derelth "The Lair of the Star-Spawn". In keeping with Derelth's classification of Lovecraftian deities as elementals, Zhar is a wind element like Hastur, so I think we will see everyone's favorite gender bending old one shine in the next episode.

Pedantic switch flipped: I am not a big fan of Derelth's classifications. He took the genius that was Lovecraft and made it safe for middle class consumption. In short Derelth was the PF Chang of Lovecraftian fiction. In Lovecraft the old ones are not divided into good and evil, they transcended good and evil. When man exterminates ants invading one's home, is that man evil? No one would think that way. That is however how the "old one's" view humanity in Lovecraftian mythos: as less than an ant. Derelth though was not comfortable with such amoralism, hence his desire to transform the gods into good and evil segments. Using this classification Zhar would be evil.

The first ep set the bar a bit high, I guess. It seems there will be some plot this season? Kuuko warming up to Mahiro, Mahiro warming up to Hasuta (well, not romantically, as he thinks of him as a little brother). Head patting scene was cute. The bathroom Nyarko fanservice was stimulating :) Moisturize those perfect-sized breasts more, Nyarko-chan!

WTF moment: Hasuta bringing Shanta to orgasm?!

The whole Shanta orgasm thing was just plain weird. Made me think of that South Park ep where the kids beat off a dog.

I liked the computer search. Nyaruko...Kuuko...age - death. XD

Fewer references this episode compared to ep.1. A lot more references of Cthulhu mythology though. As usual the Kamen Rider references are many. And then there are even a few pop and anime song references... Of course the Toshokan Senso (Library War) reference is too big to miss.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Stupid, stupid, stuuuuupid.

All of the jokes fall completely flat, the characters aren't interesting etc. etc.

I would drop but it's a short anime so I think I'll struggle through :/ who knows, maybe it'll improve (probably won't though)

Just like the first season, when the show tries to have serious episodes, it just becomes boring as hell.
Still Nyaruko being lovely as usual, and the patting scene was cute.

The Kuuko masturbating and Shanta orgasm moments were disturbing.

3/5

The To Love-Ru Darkness reference was really funny.

Seitokai no Ichizon's lv.2 referenced To Love-Ru Darkness, in the second episode as well, if I am not mistaken.

Of course, this episode also referenced Seitokai no Ichizon.

It is a spider web of references! Anyway, I liked this episode. The voice acting in this show is impressive as usual.

Mahiro treats Hasta better than Nyaruko and Cthuko. lol

The MC has improved, but somehow the series becomes less funny. Hopefully, Nyaruko does something crazy soon xD

Haha, this was crazy. If only Mahiro would be a little less of a downer. He wasn't that bad in this episode though.

Did they just really imply Shanta-kun coming? Oh my.
