Heya MAL users, I know the words to all the songs on my Ipod and think its time I give it an overhaul of new music. While I listen mostly to folk and alternative, but I'm also looking to fill in all genres. I listed a bunch of artists I like from my Ipod that you can use as reference or to add to your own collection, hopefully other users may see some suggestions they like in your response as well :) Thanks!

Uhm I would suggest you Phideaux, it has a lot of folk influences even if it's mostly Progressive Rock. I think the albums you would like the most could be Doomsday Afternoon, Chupacabras and Number 7.

Oh and I'm surprised you don't have The Decemberists in your list. Try them as well, suggested album: The Hazards Of Love.

I wouldn't label Avenged Sevenfold as metalcore because only their first 2 albums are metalcore.

Delve into Zappa. You'll never find your way out. There's so much, and at least 80% of it is brilliant. And get into Estradasphere or Secret Chiefs 3 or something. And Penderecki (particularly Fluorescences and his 3rd symphony), who is probably the heaviest mutha alive.
