Unless you love comedy anime made from people who have the worst sense of humor or corny anime riddled with...corniness, you would have probably considered quitting the anime scene for some time during your desperate and fruitless search for decent anime.

I'm speaking more specifically to those who love the dark, gritty, mature, serious, psychological, and generally non-kiddy anime. I was drawn into anime because of these types of anime. If you don't have mature content in anime, anime might as well be childish "cartoons" reserved for kids.

Sadly, mature and serious anime rarely get made. Even when they do get made, they do not escape Sturgeon's revelation (90% of everything is crap), sadly. This means that only time (and a lot of time) can tell when you'll have good mature anime again.

This is just my side of the story, and it doesn't pertain to what this thread is asking for. It's just here for people to understand the situation. Think of it as an example.

you want some cheese?

Seriously, why another thread whining about the oh-so-present decline of anime because of moe. You may camouflage it, but that's what this is all about once again. Let it be.
I probably regret this post by now.

If I want mature content or deepness I go read a book, not chinese cartoons.
If you are not satisfied with it just move on to another media that suits you better.

I've gone through some dry spells. It's like anything else. When a good new show comes along, I watch that until it's done then look for a new one.

I don't think I'll ever run out. There's so much out there, and I've learned to enjoy the average/mediocre shows.

I think "crap" is a bad choice of word, "average" would be better since crap implies that the show is un-watchable. I find most serious/mature anime nowadays are watchable, the show doesn't have to be a masterpiece.

Whew! It sure does stank in here!

This thread.. seems very familiar... like a duplicate of one from last week..

Not that I would ever run out of good anime, but hypothetically speaking if I did : I would take a break until new good anime come out.. since the time range of new good anime is unpredictable I can't answer the poll :I

I hope you're aware that you ended up really stupid with that comment.

You really need to be close minded to run out of anime, or only watch one genre like mystery or sport that aren't done to death. I don't think that I'd run out of material before I reach the 1000 mark haha.

If you really want to fit in, just put Legend of the Galactic Heroes in your top 5 and have it be the only 10-rated anime in your list.

It's sad that anime really only started looking good after 2002, so those who don't like older anime art, really just cut off half of the anime in the world.

Even if I run out of animes I like, it's not like anime doesn't air every season. I probably like at least 1-2 animes that air every season.

Sometimes seasons suck, and you're stuck with nothing but crap. If you wait it out till 5 or 10 seasons pass, you'll have more of a pile to choose from.

i'll just find something else to do. although when i give anime a break or "quit" anime in this case it isn't because i've run out of good shows but more because i'm just bored of the medium. i'm a HUGE fan of anime but there are times when i've just watched enough and have to give it a rest for a couple weeks/months before i can start fully enjoying it again.
