^ Topic, what game sports your favorite cover!

I thought mine was the Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World cover since I bought the strategy guide after beating it just to look at the art all large and shiny, but I think I found my favorite!

Wow wow wow <3 I bought mine used recently and took a gross picture of it that is sitting on my profile, but I've bought rubbing alcohol to get the left over sticker particles off and cleaned the whole thing and I must say~ It is quite good! Almost as good as Tales of Vesperia Premium Edition's cover. I didn't want to go too far backwards in picking games this season, but the cover really won me over and I had to buy it ; ;

My true favorite is~

Wow@@; I wanted a Nintendo DS because of The World Ends With You, but I told my sister I'll have to play Luminous Arc 2 first because the cover looks too nice @@; Unfortunately - that is the box's cover. The actual Nintendo DS box cover (that stores the game) cover's up the bottom left character's face with the Rating ; ; (Teen). The outer box cover is the pearl, but the DS game cover is still quite good ; ;

Does anyone else care about nice looking covers for good games? Or obviously - does everyone not care how a game presents itself as long as it is addicting by itself? What are your favorite covers?

(From front and back of covers, you can pretty much tell if you'll like a game, but if you insist that you can play a game with a horrible cover [front and back] - you are basically alluding you can play a horrible looking game itself. Which is fine, but most people like to play nice looking games@@; Everyone understands the concept of don't judge a book by its cover, but I have stated playing ugly games is fine).

[Every game I've bought based on the cover - I've loved. The only game in the past month I've bought based on its hype - I've hated (Persona 3; awful front cover to me))

I actually bought Tales of Symphonia because of the cover. But I think it's a tie between the Okami and the Baten Kaitos covers for me.

I prefer my cover art to be more visually appealing and I really hate the cover art when they need to put a character in the cover just because they want people to pick it up randomly in stores.

Ico's PAL cover:

Definitely shows some influence from De Chirico, which is pretty damn cool.

The NTSC cover (released in North America), however, is quite ugly. Maybe part of the reason it didn't sell very well.

I'm a shameless manga cover whore, but I don't think it works for games. After all, games have more to offer than just static drawings. Some good games, even those with good artwork in general, have terrible covers.

I really like Hanakisou, because of its soft coloring and appropriate representation of the game.

On the other hand, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1 and 2 DS have awful covers that don't reflect the game at all, yet are fun to play.

A lot of Bioware CRPGs have very simple covers that I don't care for, but I love the games. I liked the Japanese Persona 3 cover, but dislike the one for Persona 4.

Game Covers really matter, but.. Between buying an used game for 10 bucks without a game cover and spending 40 bucks for an used game with a cover, the choice is easy. No matter how much I like having a nice looking game cover, paying 3-4 times the price for one is definitely not worth it. As for my favorite game covers:

This is only a fraction of what I like.

And I agree with blockhead, .Hack//G.U had really nice cover. Too bad Haseo didn't always look that bad ass in game.

Maybe? I use to have the game (might still be in storage) and that's the first good picture that comes up on Google.

how can one be so good while the other be so fking ugly. I guess they assume that most americans have no taste for art and just like swords.

I'm a big fan of Yoji Shinkawa's art style and I hope I can draw just like him one day and it's a shame that he still hasn't drawn a manga yet. My favourite is the alternative mgs2 and mgs3 covers. I don't like covers that uses CGI and computerized images because they get old fast.

Apart from Ico, I'm having a hard time thinking of any covers that could pass off as genuine works of art, and I can think of plenty more bad than good. They are for the most part, merely serviceable.

I thought this was kind neat. I'm reminded of my dad's collection of 60s sci-fi novels. Now those had some outstanding art.

Okay, game covers! This was a favorite of mine growing up:

As far as I'm concerned, Guilty Gear covers never ceased to be epic, at least in my eyes.

And as a little finisher, I came around this a few days ago. It's fan-made, but, I liked it anyways.
