Well for me, I had been watching anime on and off from a young age, but it wasn't until I saw Ouran High School Host Club in summer 2009 that I became hooked on anime.

My favorite shows are Natsume Yuujinchou, Chihayafuru, Sakamichi no Apollon, Mushishi, Nana, and Uchuu Kyoudai. All of them have made me cry because I got so invested in the characters and story :)

Being an anime/manga fan has had a big impact on my life, not only because it's what I do in my spare time, but because it's also made me very interested in learning about another culture and language.

The couples I am most invested in are Chihaya x Arata (Chihayafuru), Nobu x Hachi (Nana), Sakura x Naruto, and Touko x Konoha (Bungaku Shoujo)

The characters I relate to the most are Arata Wataya (Chihayafuru), Takashi Natsume (Natsume Yuujinchou), and Touko Amano (Bungaku Shoujo)

So that's my story :) I hope other people post in here too!
