I think Ergo Proxy and The Count of Monte Cristo are perfect mystery series even though the latter is quite predictable.

Higurashi & Hyouka are mystery animes, but the second is more like a slice of life mysteries, nothing too hardcore.

I'm watching Le Chevalier D'Eon. It has a nice mystery plot with supernatural elements. It's set in France (obviously) before the revolution in the 18th century. I think it's paced well and the production is decent enough. & also think it's kind of underrated. I'm watching the dub (unusual for me) & it's not bad at all.

Fruits basket. It does have a sense of Mystery when it comes to the family of the zodiac.

I'm surprised Detective Conan has not been mentioned. I've watched more then 200 episodes and it still keeps me interested. I also recommend the movies. They are very well done.

I read the first volume of Detective Conan manga & loved it. I've seen the first ep of the series & I think they did a good job. But, sad the gore is left out. I know it had to be, but yea. I plan to watch it eventually. I'd really like to read the manga first though.

He he, yeah, they could have made it gory and then it would have been a masterpiece lol. But even as it is, a lot of dead bodies are in it, so it's not all that bad XD

I liked Another as for as a mystery. It wasn't that greatly overall written, but I was surprised by "who was dead".
