Okay, it's a trick question. Good reads is a book site. *ha, yuk, yuk, yuk*

vampireneko said:
does anyone know of a site like this one, but to make a movie list?

I do have one for books if you are interested: http://www.goodreads.com/

It operates a lot like this. My nickname is Istra on that as well.
http://www.goodreads.com/profile/Istra

IMDb (Internet Movie Database)
http://www.imdb.com
Customizable Categories - plus
Can share more than one category - plus
Only boards - minus
Sharing all categories is cumbersome - minus
TV Shows available but cumbersome to track within seasons - neutral

As an example: My username is IstraLouise, but these are the links I have
to give in order to share my categories

must see - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736680
to buy - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736681
own DVD - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736683
own HD-DVD - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736684
own BlueRay - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736686
on hold - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736695
watched - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736696
dropped - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736705
currently watching - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39736920

There is also Filmcrave.
http://www.filmcrave.com
customizable categories, (not quite as searchable) - plus
lots of social interaction - plus
interesting profile - plus
only able to publish one list - extreme minus
not able to track television series - extreme minus

Flixster is my least favorite..
http://www.flixster.com
you can create as many lists as you want and use them for categories
all of your lists can be public
you get to select a theme for your background
--but you get minimal information.. like a title, a year, and a small DVD box graphic to decide whether your selection is the right one. And the list feature seems hidden in the links at the bottom of the page. It seems the least intuitive of the three.
And the TV Series information is incomplete. Family Guy yielded only one box set rather than three seasons of disks.

I really think I'm going to be using IMDb.
[edit: actually to use the forums IMDb wants me to 'authenticate my account by
1. giving them my Amazon password in an account that I recently made a purchase
2. giving them a credit card number
3. exchanging texts over my cell phone

DING DING DING.. I think we have a loser! Utter Fail! Which leaves me with FilmCrave so far.. How is the site you found? (I deleted my IMDb account just now so the above links won't work but they were the ones issued to me when I had an account)]

Criticker.com at http://www.criticker.com - submitted by vampireneko
It looks like a really good website for rating, recommendations, reviews and seems to have a wide foriegn language database. Very well executed.

(Btw.. Thanks for having the question. I wanted something like this ever since I found there was a book list I just hadn't gotten around to looking for one.)

http://www.criticker.com/
works fine, maybe it was down for maintenance when you checked? I think I'll open my account right now and check it out
-----------------------------------------------
*edit:
looks decent, you have to rate (a bit hard to do if you are trying to put movies on your list that you barely remember) but the review is optional so you can just leave it blank.

you get RSS and XML of recent ratings, updates everytime you make a new ranking and a RSS of "Kumpel Activity" that works pretty much like the recent friends updates here.

you also get widgets for facebook, igoogle, myspace and recently watched films that works pretty much like our signature in here!!! refreshed every hour~

I looked at criticker and it looks good, but I usually use Netflix for my film ratings and recommendations. It has a pretty decent engine and result. I'm leaving open my account on FilmCrave. I'll use criticker if I have to get rid of my Netflix account or if Netflix goes belly up.

You do facebook? I do facebook! Do you race there?

Ok, not having friends that use it definitely make it less fun. I had a MySpace account that I never used to the point that they purged it, but where I volunteer a lot of people have Facebook accounts, so I started one.

I have ranked quite a few movies but I am sure I am forgetting some, and then there is those movies I don't remember the name of, that is frustrating!

Just like when I started my list here, since I am still working on my movie list my recent updates are not all the times movies I've recently watched, but a mix of watched and some I remembered watching and added them, but I thought I would share it here anyways:

*Edit.- doesn't work here probably because of frames -_-; well here is a link:

It’s time to ditch the text file.
