Slam Dunk - my favorite sports anime, and IMO, the funniest anime I have ever seen as well.
One Outs - if you like "battle of wits"
Kuroko no Basket - another basketball anime, with superb animation/art.
Major - the best baseball anime

Pretty much what you would expect. The races are generally exciting, but there isn't really a plot and, as a result, the characters don't get any development. Art is notably bad until maybe the third or fourth stage, though the music is almost universally praised.

pro golfer saru - the best anime if you want a pure sports comdey
Ashita no joe - ippo but better i anime from in manga from its the best spots manga ever
Ring ni kakero - top class more traditional shounen sports show [ hell in manga form this is the first manga that used all the tropes that would become staples in the demographic]
Touch - adchi/ baseball that should sell you
Tiger mask
Kyojin no Hoshi- the best baseball anime
Ichi Pound no Fukin- Boxing manga by Takahashi Rumiko while widly anachronistic in some ways a good story is told over all in anime form [ but manga is over 8000 times better]
Bari bari Densetsu - Good little Ova but its only covers a drop in the water of the manga story [ if you conisder the Manga was not out that long when that ova was made]

Cross Games and Chihayafuru are 2 of my favorite sport anime of all time.

Ginban Kaleidoscope was also pretty nice.
