Most cancerous review?

Anything TheAnimeSnob does.

Especially his review on Assassination Classroom where he called it "just another school anime"

He does bring up a few good points though, and he was not completely wrong to call it "just another school anime" bringing up empowerment fantasy.

You have to question the motive behind some of the settings, such as why are they training a group of school kids to be an assassin and why must they be training them in a normal school. Given the circumstances, a normal school is definitely not the best venue to grow assassins and normal teenagers are definitely not the best candidates to be trained into an assassin. Evident throughout the series (followed the manga since chapter 1), around half of the class are still normal enough in a sense that they do not have the ruthless/remorseless mindset when it comes to human lives.

Besides that, as the series needs to focus on too many characters, it makes it hard for you to be attached to or care for anyone who are not the main-est character. That's why you barely know other characters apart from Nagisa and Kayano. You can't even care too much about them because way too many times they jump focus to other characters after telling you something about them. Unless you consider the class as a whole, the kids are barely worth mentioning.

Plus, it's so obviously a school empowerment fantasy as you can clearly see that the weakest class is the class consisting of truly normal people are everyone in the top class is evil. Half of the plot was dedicated to push out the idea that "the righteous shall triumph over the evil".

Even if this topic is old news, I still would like to speak my mind here.

Probably the most cancerous review I've ever seen is this one right here, by SANC16: http://www.anime-planet.com/users/SANC16/reviews/11262#comments
I mean look at it. He's an idiot, a homophobe, brings up all sorts of things that have nothing to do with Sailor Moon like Gundam Wing, Obama...get to the freaking point.

Almost just as bad are the Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z/GT and Yu-Gi-Oh reviews from THEM Anime, specifically these ones:

http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=405

What I hate about this one specifically is when Christie says: it "not only reinvented the entire purpose of Sailor Moon, alienating the Japanese fandom, but revealed Usagi wasn't the main focus of the series after all, but Sailor Galaxia. Not to mention the gender-shifting Sailor Stars themselves, who according to previous storylines, should never have existed anyway."

How could she miss the point of/the story of the series? It never revealed that the villain was the main character at all!!

http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=1451
http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=1453

These are all bad because Tim pretty much missed the point of said series, specifically S, and I love how he claims he "doesn't hate it" when he's got nearly nothing but negative things to say about it, and the problem with him and Christie is that they both generalize the SM fanbase, as if they're trying to insult it also.

Tim also reviewed Yu-Gi-Oh! and he assumed it was a 224 episode card commercial when he only saw 45 FREAKING EPISODES OF THE SHOW!!! For Dragon Ball GT (not saying I think it's great or not), he only saw 6 but compared it to Sailor Stars, which he also reviewed poorly...

I've also seen odd ratings on here how one person said they "couldn't recommend" a series due to "lackluster action and sound", but gave it a 9/10!! 9/10 does not equal "not recommended", that would be something like 4/10, which does not mean "decent", like what one other reviewer said...

Anyone agree with me here?

I have a few saved. Not for being precisely cancerous, but simply funny.
For instance,

The repetition (poor MC being bad, poor music and art being decent) , all the FORGIVENESS, that dank simile of the highest quality... A masterpiece of its own kind.

Searching for Kimi no Na wa plot in the reviews i found this:

"Your Name." is, in a word, a journey. A journey into what will surely be the future of cinematography, as well as a journey on a grand emotional roller coaster.

Technically speaking, labeling this film a "masterpiece" is an insult by omission. Given that Shinkai is a master, anything he makes is obviously going to be a "masterpiece," but among silt there is gold, and among gold there may be diamonds. This movie is a diamond, easily the prettiest feature length film I've ever seen; more so than even fetishistic attempts to be just that such as Samsara.

I haven't seen this movie but the whole " calling it masterpiece is an insult by omission" sounds so pedantic. Also the user who made this review seems to be a bot https://myanimelist.net/profile/manofmanymanga

Hey everyone, I've found another review that I wouldn't say is "cancerous", but it's borderline unreadable: http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://angryanimebitches.com/2014/11/sailor-moon-crystal-episode-9-serenity/

Basically this person is saying is "Sailor Moon Crystal is awesome and if you don't agree with me, you are blinded by nostalgia/missing the point of Sailor Moon, and you are 'twisting the episodes' when you express your opinion!"

They also misunderstood greatly he friendships operated, and dare say that we are "blinded by nostalgia" and "miss the point of the series" if we don't agree? This is why I hate the majority of this show's fanbase (Crystal one)...

First off, Usagi's friends didn't mock her all the time in the original anime at all, I think this person's exaggerating or nitpicking. Friends tease each other all the time, I never saw Usagi being a "stupid Queen", it shows that even as Neo Queen Serenity she isn't perfect, plus it was for humor. Plus, there were moments that showed in episodes that the girls did care for Usagi, and Usagi cared for them. I never saw any episodes where they were "mocking" her.

Even in episode 93, the girls just mistook Usagi just quitting stuff she wanted to learn and Luna and the others did apologize, or Luna on behalf of them, and at least Ami was kind enough to suggest stuff for Usagi to learn. Ami NEVER would insult Usagi also, and she's rarely even harsh at all.

And by the "blinding of nostalgia" thing, well I think it's false, and honestly insulting in a way; nostalgia has nothing to do with this at all, we can have our own opinions. And they shouldn't be using it as an excuse, I already heard stupid Crystal Elitists using it and it's gotten old and annoying, especially with one person claiming fans were "blinded" the same way because they were thinking the 90's anime characters were "flanderized" (they were not) and using that same dumb excuse.

As a history buff I found this recommandation extremely cancerous, I mean comparing a manga themed on an important part of western history (aka ancient Rome) to a parody/nationalist manga (depending on your own point of view) that are absolutely different is just plain bullshit to me. Just because it includes warfare and strategies does not make it historical at all, even for politics. The guy compare a god damn 20 y-o "otaku" (I exagerate a bit here) to two legends, the fuck ?

He has some good points, it was definitely a stupidly low rating for a well made anime (art and music) however I actually would have to agree that the storytelling was not that great, it wasn't overly emotional and i finished it with a whole heap of questions, like: why didn't he impleent himself in the same system?, why can't she just create someone?, why does everything reset? Just to name a few. It was still really nice to watch and the music is on my headphones right now lol, but I felt that they just added random sad senarios to make the story more interesting.

still a 1/10 make no sense because the awesome animation and music put it at a 7 at the least
Memento Mori.

You're making the same mistake as he did. It's a god damn music video. Do you want a storytelling showcase akin to Lord of the Rings in that time? It told its story in a satisfactory way with the time it had to use.

Come on.

For some reason taste in music is believed to be almost completely arbitrary.

That being said, I watched Shelter in order to understand the whole thread complaining about that same review (that I can acknowledge is laughable, because something like that doesn't even deserve one).

Listening to the song was hideous, and the video from a visual standpoint was generic to say the least. Especially because it is a music video the criterion should be different imho. Novelty and creativity in expressing its idea(s) and/or emotions is vital (in the simplest scenario just follow the rhythm), and in this case it just tried to emulate the anime style way too much, by offering us a condensed rehash of uninspiring concepts blended in a pseudoemotional package. Have I already mentioned the music was quite hard to listen to?
