Is there a josei series that you'd like to recommend? If so, please post about it here! Just include the name, genre (romance, slice of life, e.t.c.), what you thought about it, and, if possible, a short description.

Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope)
Coming-of-age, music, romance
I watched the anime version on Hulu and it was really a nice little series. The characters are likeable and the music's great, which is no suprise considering it was composed by Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell e.t.c.).
The series was released earlier last year and ran from April- June, with a total of 12 episodes. The story takes place in 1966 Japan and focuses mainly on Kaoru Nishimi and the relationships he forms with Sentaro Kawabuchi and Ritsuko Mukae. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_on_the_Slope

I would like to suggest the manga Ohoku: The Inner Chambers. Summary can be found here:

If you don't like serious historical drama's, Kimi wa Pet and Hotaru no Hikari are both about ladies who work in offices and their complicated romantic life. Both have a lot of comedic and cute moments :)

And lastly, the Kuragehime manga and anime which is absolutely hilarious. More info here:

I love Kimi wa Pet and Kuragehime ^_^ As for Ohoku and Hotaru no Hikari, they both seem like good series. I'll have to check them out sometime.

It's been a while since I've read a good manga. Does anybody know of a decent series that's been released recently?

Not too recent (2010), but how about Annarasumanara? It is Manwha though, not sure if that is a deal breaker. No matter what, I say give it a chance - it is not only an excellent josei title, but also perception changing. It really makes you think about life.

I've only made it to the 5th chapter, but I'm really enjoying it so far. I love the artwork! Especially the character designs. That one guy's neck though... Heheh. I'm guessing that gets explained later on. I'm going to try to finish it soon. Thanks for recommendation!
