Whether it was popular or obscure with a limited release, have you ever caught an anime movie at the theater before?

When I was young I managed to catch the first three Pokemon movies and the American edited version of the Digimon movie, and in recent years I hitchhiked 500 miles to catch the first Rebuild of Eva movie as well as the Eureka Seven movie in a theater that was more local.

I also (regretfully) saw the first three Pokemon and Digimon movies in theaters, as well as the second Eva movie. I saw the second Inuyasha movie a dollar movie once, too. But it wasn't an actual theatrical release as much as they were just playing it for fun.

I could have caught the MSMM movie screening here in Korea. It was a special 2 hour screening. Unfortunately, the tickets were sold out a month before.

Nope. The only animated movie that was shown in a theater in Male' (capital of Maldives) was The Lion King a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't get tickets for it. Since then, there has been no animated movie, thus anime movies, shown in the Olympus Theater (only theater I know of) in Male'.

I have only seen first three Pokemon movies as child and then Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0. I hope they get Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 also to Finland. If they are going to show it at the same festival as RoE 2.0 it might get here in this fall.

I saw the K-On Movie at a Japanese film festival in Sydney last November. It's even better on the big screen. The jokes were funnier, the feels were elevated and the animation was beautiful. Plus since it was on the big screen, I could point out small details that I otherwise couldn't.

Last month, I saw the Madoka movies in Sydney. While the showing was less than perfect (THE MOVIE FROZE FIVE FUCKING TIMES) the movies were great. The pacing wasn't as good as the show but the new scenes, improved OST and stunning animation made it a real treat to see on the big screen. Well worth going to the cinema for. Plus I got a cool poster.

Other than that, I saw the Yugioh Movie back in 2004. They gave out free cards. I got Watapon and my Mum got Blue eyes. Needless to say, I traded with her since she was unaware of how amazing the card she got was.

EDIT: I also hear that Eva 3.0 is screening over here soon, so I'll definitely see that

the amount of money id give to see 5cm per second in theatres, or any of makoto shinkai's works.
or the eva rebuild movies.

we just dont get those movies here in south australia and its truly sad that we miss out on such masterpieces. dont worry though. your standard flavor of the week shitty teeny bop movie get plenty of screenings, the only chance you get to see any sort of anime movies whatsoever are at annual events, and thats if youre lucky, 2 maybe 3 days a year.

on topic, i saw the first pokemon movie when it came out, and thats about it. and that yugioh movie, i got all 3 of them sphinx card thingies and chucked em in a box somewhere, theyre probably worth a couple of bucks if i can find em.

if they're only showing that at Melbourne/Sydney, fuck it, im driving down. that's something worth seeing. also, i heard about all the issues with the madoka screening and i only finished the series just before they screened it in melbourne, how was are the movies themselves? you say there were pacing issues, and i found that was a problem with the series to start with, worth the blurays next year?

The only Anime movie I've ever seen even showing in a Colorado movie theater was FMA: Conquerer of Shamballa. The first few Pokémon movies were probably shown too but I'd probably already watched them in Japanese at the local Pokémon tcg meets we used to go to on the weekends.

I wish...even without subs it would be ok (as long as they weren't dubbed). I think that like 10+years ago the first movie of Pokemon aired, not sure, but that's all.

The most close i could get to an anime movie was in a store of 'used' products where i found Laputa in DvD, close enough. Happened yesterday, ill go back there in 2days to buy it XD

One of my Yu-Gi-Oh friends asked me to watch one of the movies with him when it came out. There were a lot of traders and duelists in the theater and although I never got into the show, it was fun going anyway.

I was planning to watch Evangelion 3.0 in theaters until I realized ow much of a crap joke of a film it is, and I came to terms with the fact I will never be able to take any family friends or significant other to watch a true Evaneglion movie. That and I don't want to deal with the narutard fanboys in the theater.
