According to Cinema Today, Studio Ghibli has announced two new movies which will be premiered in the summer of 2013 simultaneously. One is "Kaze Tachinu" directed and written by Miyazaki Hayao, and the other is "Kaguya-hime no Monogatari" directed and written by Takahata Isao.

Kaze Tachinu is based on Hori Tatsuo's novel and is about a girl who is suffering from tuberculosis and the real-life engineer Horikoshi Jiro.
Kaguya-hime no Monogatari is based on the Japanese old folktale Taketori Monogatari.

Kazetachinu looks like a summer tearjerker. Bamboo cutter girl animated is like a big present from Ghibli. Totally looking forward to both.

It has been 18 years before Miyazaki and Takahata jointly released a movie of his won. It would be interesting to see how the joint release goes this time. Also, Miyazaki's film is set in the background of WWII and is related to the engineer who designed the brilliant Zero Fighter. It would be interesting to see what is Miyazaki's take to portray the historical background.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Absolutely great news. Love Ghibli movies. And now in 2013, I will get Ni No Kuni VG, which is Ghibli produced, and hopefully both of these subbed by year end; though that's unlikely.

I know it's a typo but I can't figured out what "existed" is supposed to be a typo of.

But yes, more Ghibli movies!

That Kaze Tachinu promo is breathtaking. It's not Porco Rosso 2, but maybe that's for the best.

I don't care about one more Ghilbi's fairytale. Especially from this director. So I'll pass on Kaguyahime. But new Miyazaki film looks like more serious thing so I'll give it a try

I was eagerly waiting for this announcement. It has been 13 long years since Takahata's directorial work. Miyazaki's new film, too, seems extremely promising.

I'm definitely hyped.

Really Looking forward to this. It's nice we getting 2 ghibli movies when we usually only get 1. And it's nice Takahata's getting to make more movies also.
