I only read Volume 1 of xxxHOLic, but I remember reading a news article about it being on HIATUS. Then why would readers think the last chapter was the end?

This is wonderful news because the ending quite frankly horrified me, and it also was incredibly sad and very abrupt. I can't wait to see what happens in the new manga but...

Ah well, I hope poor Watanuki gets even a remotely happy ending and the ending to this series won't be so crappy like the other. I mean seriously, it's almost as if Clamp said "F*ck you all" and ended it. >_>

Being a fan of this manga, I even seem to like it way more than TRC I can't contain all of my happiness now after reading this! A few more books remain for me to reach the end and now knowing there will be a sequel, I wonder if I will be feeling the same as everyone felt about the ending before this announcement.

I quite liked the ending of xxxHOLiC, though it seems i'm in the minority with that. I'll read the new seires, but frankly i think the time would be better spent on more Drug & Drop and Gate 7. And, like several others have said, it would be nice if they took some of their older series off hiatus like X instead of doing a sequel to one that was already complete.
