That was... like amazing. <3 I'm in awe right now at how suspenseful and crazy and just pure awesome this is!!!!
Can't wait for next week T_T
They should totes have a double episode special sometime...

And Phinks was sooo funny when he tried to trick Kurapika! I was laughing so hard.xD

I ended up feeling at least a little sorry for Paku. But it was fun seeing the Spiders continue on with their vaguely hostile but also easy way each other. Casual threats and knocking each other over the head being the popular thing it seems. :P

And the end gave me the sensation that I should start writing some Hisoka and Illumi slash again, it has been years! I'm sure this leaves many terrified.

The lack of Chrollo Punch Bag just about ruined this episode for me! }:(
It's one thing if they censor it. But all they do was one crappy punch.

Whatever the heck happened to Kurapika's violent rage in Episode 47?

I'm not asking for that level of violence. But hell even Gon vs Hanzo
where the camera pans away at the last second was more brutal
than this. This kind of crap just really irks me. ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

Also the episode was too quiet for me. Some more music would
have been nice. Yes I know it's suppose to be intense but I think
a good place track would have done better. HxH 2011 has
good music. Hell I say great music but they don't use it enough.

There were many things I liked about this episode.
Such as Phinks grin after lying about the broken bones.

But this one just pulled too many punches.

Thank goodness this arc ends next episode or two.
Please step up your game Madhouse for Greed Island!

Well even though we didn't get much Chrollo Punching Bag action here.

At least we can all look forward to the inevitable epic battle between
Chrollo and Hisoka. Damn I can't wait to see who wins. IT'S GONNA BE INTENSE.

The manga gives one nasty punch and yes the rest is off screen.
But we didn't get that. We got one measly punch and that was it.

Kurapika is NOT supposed to be calm and collected here.
He's supposed to barely contain his rage. I didn't get that.
Kurapika felt more wimpy here. As if he was afraid to beat up Chrollo.

Real fast paced ep as expected from the 2011 version, although it had a somewhat negative effect on my overall enjoyment this time around. I wanted MH to focus more on Paku this ep because she is a crucial character in this part of the arc; not enough was given IMO, but oh well. Great ep regardless

I felt like this was a good episode.. Things look like they are speeding up for some action later on. Seeing the Spiders interact with each other is a bit funny. Pakunoda is just walking in to her death in this one, sucks for her. Looking forward to the next episode.

P.S. anyone noticed the request song played in this episode at the lobby was one of the theme songs from the Kaiji anime

Man Chrollo is as cool as a cucumber. And Kurapika really knows how to set up a deal! Are they gonna meet up in a parking garage or an alley or something! I wonder what sort of role Illumi will play in all of this. And yeah Pakunoda was like everyone's doormat in this episode! XD Some major stuff is about to go down next week!

Yep. Not only that, but they failed to include Chrollo's reaction to Kurapika's first punch, which was smiling at him with indifference. That's what pushed Kurapika beyond the edge and made him beat the shit out of Chrollo. Yet no matter how much he beat him, Chrollo was the one with the upper hand throughout the whole confrontation, keeping all of his composure while Kurapika completely lost his. That's what made their face-off so amazing and unfortunately it just wasn't conveyed as well in this version. Oh well.

This episode was also noticeably rushed. There were many meaningful lines and details missing. I don't understand Madhouse here. They dragged the fuck out of the first episodes of the arc which focused on Kurapika's fodder teammates, but now that we're in the meat and climax of the story, they decide it's time to rush it? Screwed up priorities if you ask me.

Chrollo was smiling at one point in this episode during that scene.

You know I don't get why they even included it here? The Chrollo Punching
Bag scene is from Volume 13. This was finishing up Volume 12.
They should have waited until next episode and done it right.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I don't get it either.

Well I decided to average the scores of the episodes of the arcs
of how I rate each episode. Here's how it turned out:

Hunter Exam Arc:

4.3 Brown Bag Hearts out of 5

Zoldyck Mansion Arc

4.2 Trash Can Terrible Tourists out of 5

Heavens Arena

4.8 ZUSHI'S!!! out of 5

Yorknew City arc

4.05 Trips to the Liquor Store out of 5

(Note that whale island was considered as part of Yorknew City Arc)

I'll probably watch the episode again now that I vented my frustrations about it.

This episode is full of suspense. Lol at Phinx :P "Just Awake" put a smile on my face. Honestly, I want a new OP and ED now. :P I hope this anime will continue till the latest chapter ;)

Nothing was 'censored' here; in the manga, Kurapika was not shown punching Kuroro at all in volume 12. So they even /added/ extra violence for the anime in this scene, isn't that great...? =_=;

I think ppl who saw the old version know that this episode was not that good, and the music dose not fit the situation at all, dissappointing
Next episode will the last one of spiders then the greed island will start ,
Whats makes me positive is that greed island was not that good in the old version so i think it should be better in this version .. Cant wait

Great pacing and explanation of the plan to use darkness as a means to escape (although it failed) and to capture the boss.

Seriously Hunter x Hunter is one of the best shounen anime out there.

I'm mixed on this episode....

The actual execution of the plan was okay at best(I've read the manga so it felt a little rushed in comparison to how I pictured it in my mind) but the second half of the episode with the Troupe discussing what to do was awesome. I love how Togashi shows the range of emotions within the Troupe the same way protagonists would show them to just to make them more relatable. I've seen comments of people who just watch the remake saying how they are feeling bad for the Chrollo and Pakunoda. I think they forget that these people slaughtered hundreds of people including poor Squala last episode. The focus on Pakunoda this episode was well done with the flashbacks of when Troupe was first formed(Uvogin with an afro lol).

I have to mention the though when Phinks first answered the phone and tried to add injuries to Gon and Killua. That was just freakin hillarious. Same thing with Feitan, his monotone responses to Nobunaga made me chuckle. When Hisoka sent a text to Illumi so he can fight the boss I was like "aw shit". Next week can't come soon enough

I was saying that I would take a censored version over the (lack) of what we got.

No, Kurapika wasn't shown punching Chrollo in Volume 12. However he WAS shown punching him in Volume 13. The episode took the very beginning of volume 13
and added it to the scene from Volume 12. It's true only one punch is actually
shown but there is more than one punch heard. We only heard one.
So no. No extra violence was shown or heard. And what we DID get
was pitiful. What kind of punch was that, Kurapika?

I'm still frustrated about how the Chrollo Punch Bag scene was handled.
The one punch we got felt weak and there was no implication of multiple
punches as there is in the manga. It's true the OVA spoiled us with extra
punches but still in the manga we got several punches heard but not seen.
And afterwards Chrollo is beaten and bruised but still smiling.
Here he's just shook up a little and his hair is messed up.

Why does it matter?

Because without that (implied) violence against Chrollo the scene loses
tension. Kurapika's threat feels too empty. He lacks...hatred. (Lol).

Compare this to Gon vs Hanzo. We didn't actually see much of anything
there but it was all heavily implied and it was brutal. We got just enough
to show that Hanzo was beating up Gon pretty badly. We cringed
when we knew Gon was going to get punched again.

This scene should feel similar. But it didn't. In our hearts we should
want Kurapika to annihilate the smug bastard Chrollo but in our
minds we should be worried that Kurapika will put Gon and Killua
in danger by killing Chrollo. But that's not the feeling we get here.

In the manga it seems like Kurapika was going to kill Chrollo
and was brought to his senses by Leorio and Melody.

In this anime it seems like Kurapika has no intention of killing Chrollo
but instead is trying to threaten him to gain the upper hand.

Well either way I agree about Greed Island.
I really hope Madhouse doesn't rush that one.
But I'm afraid they will.

Phinks' side's love for Chrollo makes them want to follow his orders loyally even if it might cost his life...whereas Nobunaga's side's love for him makes them want to save him even if they are aware it's against his orders. Both sides aren't wrong, But I
can't really decide who's right. I love this. HxH is one of the most intelligent anime I've seen.

Omg some people ITT are so focused on negative littlest ever things and even like writing a lot of posts about them, they make me really sad, don't do it plz.

Anyway quite awesome episode I think the general feeling of manga was saved and some awesome decisions on choosing background sometimes really amplify it. The sound effects during the outage was very cool too.

But if the arrow is straight
And the point is slick
It can pierce through dust
No matter how thick...
