ADV is having a sale to celebrate its 15th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion new releases of Volume 1 DVDs, including but not limited to the first volumes of Air, Innocent Venus, Red Garden, and Welcome to the NHK are up for $15. The sale lasts for 15 days.

Reportedly they are also giving out a "Free Anniversary Gift" with each purchase.

a price drop for Air only 1 month after its release?! how dare ADV betray its loyal followers who picked it up early?! I say loyal followers should demand a $100 credit usable only in ADVs store!

I don't know if they still do it, but if you care about blemishes on cases and boxes, be careful. ADV pokes a hole through the UPC to mark it as a sale item. Hole right through Kenshin's head in my Trust and Betrayal DVD :/ Hm, wonder what they'd do to the 009-1 DVD tin :P

Well, I sort of don't care anymore. As long as it's barely noticeable and doesn't ruin the packaging.

Just when I thought ADV couldn't get any worse... Anyways, here's a few items I found of interest and at a nice price.

Zaion: I Wish You Were Here, $5 each, $6 for Volume 1 w/ Box

Yugo The Negotiator, $6 each, $8 for Volume 1 w/ Box, $32 for Complete Collection Pre-Order

Happy Lesson, $6 each, $15 for Complete Collection

Kino's Journey, $6 each, $7 for Volume 1 w/ Box, $24 for Complete Collection

Magical Play, $5 for Complete Collection

The Place Promised in Our Early Days, $9, $15 Bundled w/ Voices of a Distant Star

With some of the prices I'd assume online... plus I don't think they could get every single store that carries their DVDs to do such a huge ass price reduce.

Same thing happend to me. I bought Trust & Betrayal, Reflections, and some manga from them and they poked holes through the barcode. While it is not that noticable, it still irks me. That why i never buy from them anymore. I rather get it cheap from like pacific dvd or something.

No matter how cheap the ADV store sells things for, Half-Price Books (or any other secondhand video store for that matter) still has them for way cheaper(although $5-6 per disc isn't bad, but my HPB has Hoshizuki no Koe for 4 bucks).

Sure, but you're not guaranteed to see anything that you care to buy. The HPB here has about 20 anime discs, all that I already own or have no interest in owning.

Yup. That and their insane shipping costs (unless they changed them recently; when I tried to order a few months ago they were like $5 per disc) make barely anything in their sales worth it. New shows can be found at deepdiscount.com and dvdpacific.com for pretty much the same prices, and rightstuf.com's bargain bin is full of old discounted ADV singles.

I bought way too much, but I reassured myself by thinking of much my order would've cost would there have not been a sale.
