THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

..and we got a stream in the end!

The episode was great: The music was amazing, the last scenes between Jonathan and Erina were beautiful and although they didn't fix the coffin scene (manga readers will know what I mean) they ended the part perfectly.

And in the end we even got a glimpse on what awaits us in the next part as well as Sugita's Jojo voice in the preview. Get hyped.

Agreed. The pacing and directing for the end with Johnathan was perfect; drastically improved how it was in the manga.

Thus ends part one. And it was AWESOME!

Also perfect ending to this episode, showing Santana. Can't wait for next week, I'm so hyped.

Mod Edit: Removed quoted part because it was a huge manga spoiler without spoiler tags and the user who posted it originally removed the post himself.

Fitting end to Jojo and Dio I say. I must say David Productions knows how to toy with people's expectations, they were heavily hinting that Dio was going to take the priests body and use that to kill Jojo but no he was just some random passerby who got his head blown off. Can't say enough how dramatic the deaths are in this show, a civilian had a life preserver thrown at his head but it makes his head explode? okay lol : P

It sucks that Jonathan in the end was doomed to die with Dio but it was well done especially the pause saying "Jonathan Joestar has died". Can't wait for the next arc!

I am weeping convulsively upon witnessing such a paragon man! Such love, even in his dying moments he thinks only of his loved one's future! Such friendship, even with his last breath he holds on to the head of his rival, who conspired his ultimate demise! JoooJooo!!

No word to describe the awesomeness of this anime! I'm going to miss both Jo Jo and Dio.

I think they were two coffins because Wang Chung should have one also I think, because I don't think he would have the nerve to share Dio's even if he was only a head.

And so ends the life of Jonathan Joestar, who died protecting those whom he loved from his own adoptive brother Dio. Full of regret that he was unable to change the fates of them both but inspired by being able to save the love of his life in his final moments, he leaves this world content with his sacrifice, dying a death of a true gentleman.

As much as I generally dislike Part 1 (particularly because of Jonathan being fairly dull as a character), I love the ending so much. Kudos to David Production for capturing the atmosphere perfectly.

With that out of the way, it's time to meet Joseph, one of the best Joestar's, in his own bizarre (and vastly superior) adventure.

Absolutely fantastic episode all around, probably the first one I have absolutely no complaints about. Though that's largely because I absolutely loved this particular chapter as well and found it pretty ballsy that they would kill off the protagonist like that. I agree that I wish the coffin scene would have been fixed, though. Thought for sure they would have.

Definitely looking forward to the awesome Joseph Joestar who has a suitably awesome seiyuu. I'm looking forward to Battle Tendency in general, though.

I've got to say that that is a scarily accurate depiction of how Speedwagon would describe this episode.

Awesome episode, great pacing, music and voice acting was awesome, especially dio. Johnathan Joestar technically did a flaming "Sho-ryu-ken" to Dio, I know that a character from the series inspired benimaru from KOF and Lisa-lisa inspired Rose from Street Fighter Alpha but did this inspire ken's move? This came out the exact same time that SF1 was released, maybe the dragon punch was inspired by SF 1 and then the flaming version in this went on to inspired ken's dragon punch in 2 ?

Probably not. There are older manga/anime than JJBA that had the main character doing a Shoryuken.

For instance, Hokuto no Ken.

Btw, this is my first time watching this, but I seriously hope that there isn't rivalry between Joseph (who I'll assume is JoJo's real kid) and the child that Erina saved. That would be waaaaaaaaaay too similar again..
