I was curious on what some people thoughts were. The first episode was pretty intriguing. Whats the community intake on this? Keep it going or stop asap?

This. Clannad imo = moeblobs, comedy which is not funny at all and a lot of very forced drama.

If you want some high school romcom - watch toradora instead.

Personally, I loved Clannad, especially the second season. But obviously there are those who do not feel the same way. It all comes down to what you want.

After Story is way better than the first season, so even if you didn't enjoy the first season, which is basically just a normal harem SoL, continue watching until the end of AS.

To fully appreciate After Story, which is much better than the 1st season, you've got to know the characters. The 1st season introduces the story, and all the characters with their respective arcs.
If you plan on watching After Story, you have to watch Clannad first.

It's worth watching for After Story. The first Clannad is only worth it for the laughs and nothing else. It doesn't do very well as a drama though. The drama and the comedy in After Story are both very well done and you'll be crying one minute, laughing the next. In order to understand After Story (which is the stagelight for Clannad and the real story) you have to wade through Clannad to connect with the story later on. When I first watched the first season I wasn't that impressed. The characters were good but overall it bored me, had some stupid moments (Fuko's and Kotomi's arcs)and failed to draw me in like Key's other two - Air and Kanon.
So yes. do continue watching it but it's all for the sake of After Story. Hope you enjoy it!

People have different opinions, so in the end you're going to end up deciding for yourself. I liked it, but for the sake of your time and patience, I suggest you drop it since it seems you only like action/fighting.

Keep on watching, Clannad is probably one of the most interesting and heartfelt/funny anime that I've ever watched. After Story(Second Season) is better than the first season but you need to watch the first season to get to know the characters and its what makes the second season so great.

Yeah, first season is pretty mediocre but you need to watch it to learn the back story and characters for After Story. After Story is fantastic, so it's worth it.
