Regardless of Yamato's good intentions, he's really fucking this up. Mei isn't exactly helping at all either.

My brow was furrowed pretty much all episode long. Megu is fucking annoying. But then, this whole love triangle thing is bullshit.

The only redeeming part was the end (NOT when randomfag showed up).

Teenagers. I don't miss high school.

Highlight of the ep was the scene near the end where the three girls were talking. I felt that was handled pretty well, but everything else was either annoying or dumb. Or both.

Yamato is more dense than I thought.

Asami is my favorite in the series but what Mei did give her a lot of points for best character.

Yamato's stupid, nuff' said :/ Saw that misunderstanding coming from a mile away, Mei seriously needs to talk through all this with him.
Mei kissing him at the end, however, totally got me off guard. Loved it :D

MEI IS SO ANNOYING. I mean she's so lovely and she likes cats (which is a good quality in any person) but it pisses me off SO much when she just doesn't voice her thoughts. My heart was aching A LOT through most of that episode. It was just horrible. It's like, don't act like it's a hopeless situation if you could EASILY do something about it by GROWING A SPINE. Stand up for yourself, woman!

Rant = over.

I would say Yamato is at fault too, considering he agreed to have dinner alone with that other chick every night after they finish work, that would clearly make any girlfriend suspicious/jealous etc. Not a smart move on his part.

Agree. The story is getting very slow-paced and plain old dragging.

Exactly what I wanted to start my post with. He is bound to be oblivious and he won't change his character or acts until unless someone points out that is wrong or acting inappropriate.

And that kiss *gasp*; pulling a guy by his collar has always been sexy. It makes me want to read the manga now.

Could anyone tell me at which chapter this episode was based on? And I apologize if this been asked before in the forums but does the anime follow the manga religiously? Because I would read it from the chapter the anime stops but do want to make sure to not miss anything.

It follows it fairly closely, but they've left some character development out (I think Aiko and her boyfriend have been the most shortchanged in this regard). If I were you I'd read it from the start until you catch up. It actually helps to see just what Mei and Yamato's full characters are as you would be a little less likely to characterize them negatively if you got a few more of their thoughts.

As to this episode--strokes to Aiko for shaking Mei out of her lethargy. A-chan is actually my favourite supporting character in the manga and provides a bit of a harder edge to the cast.

+1
And regarding the chapter number, the end of this episode was covered at the end of chapter 13 :O

Good episode overall but Yamato fails as a boyfriend. How can he go to a girl's house, a girl who told him right after she met him that she fell in love with him at first sight and want(s)ed to be his girlfriend on top of that, without even telling Mei? More importantly, why did he even go at all? I keep running the scenario in my head over and over but I still don't understand why as I would never do something like that if I had a girlfriend or someone I liked. Oh well.

And Megumi even intentionally apologised in front of many people to firstly make him accept her apology for sure (knowing Yamato, he'd probably do it regardless of that) and secondly seem like a nice idol.
About him going to her house, I guess he does because he feels like he cannot leave her alone... She did act all "I'm so lonely, I don't have anyone, but instead of inviting someone of my many acquaintances over (500 contacts and all that), can't you, who I barely know, come over instead? :3"

Yeah well sure it's not a good thing what he did. But if you look at the interaction between Mei and Yamato in this ep (and earlier ones) I would understand why Yamato might go to her house. He isn't exactly getting anything from Mei. No words, no nothing. Honestly she seems like the most boring girl you could date. And he is young. He is eating dinner. Maybe he is not even thinking of it more than that. A man needs his foods =P

The thing that really gets me is that Megumi had said she wanted Yamato, but in the end of her little confession she said, "I don't care if you have a girlfriend". That right there should tell you that she's being conniving. When she said that it made me so mad. Anyway I am excited for this new male character.

It wouldn't have hurt to tell Mei what he was doing. Considering how she's been nonchalant about things like that in earlier episodes, she probably wouldn't have minded. I seriously just wanted to punch him through the screen.

I think that is precisely why it was so strong. Mei has never really shown that she really loves Kurosawa. For an introverted person, doing something like that really took all her courage and guts and Kurosawa knows this. And she didn't do that to dispel the rumours... She did it because she felt like he was slipping away from her.

As the saying goes, words are cheap. If you really care, take action.

Totally agree with you. No amount of trying to show her in a sympathetic light (i.e. she eats by herself) will change the fact that she is rotten down inside.

What do you expect? This is shoujo. This is a story about a how the relationship between two people develop as they grow and overcome hurdles and obstacles. Things like this take time. Sorry, this isn't the story about a superficial one night stand.

Yamato isn't trying to be a douche. He's just oblivious to how his actions can be interpreted and he's just a nice person in general that would help someone who claims she felt lonely. Megumi, on the other hand, is a douche because she knows what she is doing is breaking Mei and Yamato apart.

wow, i seriously wanted to kill everyone in this episode except for mei... -__-

yamato was a complete SHITBAG this episode! megu is already a lying, despicable, fake bitch, even inviting him into her house every night for "dinner," but fucking yamato is even lower and pathetic for agreeing to go every night, wothout considering his own girlfriend's feelings
and then sending mei his little obligatory bullshit texts that have no meaning every night just to keep her at bay while he does whatever with megu

asamichi was also annoying this episode fawning over how "cute" yamato and megu looked in their stupid photoshoots, not one person realizing how alone mei was feeling.
even aiko had some nerve telling mei off like that. mei had every right to cry, especially finding out that her "boyfriend" was eating dinner with another bitch every night?! who the fuck wouldnt cry upon finding that out?

mei shouldnt have kissed yamato at the end, fucker doesnt deserve a kind girl like her. it took him seeing another bitch and practically cheating on mei to realize that she really loves him? seriously, WTF??? dump his ass right there!!!

and even worse, this new guy looks like a complete jackass -___-

I enjoyed Kimi Ni Todoke more than this, and Tonari this season. But I do agree that the story is a meh and typical.
This episode is kinda boring tbh, sometimes I just wondered if the world revolves around Yamato when watching Sukitte lol, every single piece of plot is always about him(or something related to him).
And, he's created as a perfect hot boy, got the look, all the girls talk about him, etc. After watching this ep, I can see that his relationship with Mei isn't really deep, perhaps he is used to be with girls and talk/act casually with them, so he didn't notice Mei feelings. I'm trying to say that it's a common sense, when a girl, who likes you, doesn't want you to talk or act casually with other girls(especially with a hot model).

As I thought, they would want Yamato to be a model for good.

And Mei continues the same way; She is still letting Megu to get a chance and be near Yamato. Quite annoying. If she really loves him, she should do something, even if she feels inferior next to Megu.

Watch the series backwards.

Turns into, quote from Dark_Sage @ Crymore.net Review site, "If you watch Sukitte in reverse it’s about a girl with dependency issues who gains a personality and learns how to stand up for herself when she’s mistreated."

This series was okay at the start, but now it's just blah to me.

But seriously, I hated this part of the manga because Yamato can be so dense jfc. You have a girlfriend but you go to some other girl's house, late into the night at that. Think for a bit?!?

Excited for the next episode.

Yamato is way too naive, ovlibious and can't say no. Mei is dishonest.
They're both at fault, and that's how it is most of the time. (And girls: don't be bitches and expect the guy to read your mind.)
Me, for one, am glad that Yamato has his faults and isn't perfect.

Absolutely. That's a very good character trait, his imperfection that is. Perfect characters become boring, but even though Yamato seems to be very grown up, he actually isn't. He may look very handsome and is tall, but he's just a teenager like any other.
I really like the fact that it's not just Mei struggeling with her first real relationship, but Yamato actually as well. They're both learning, that's cool. =)

Some people have complained the pacing is too slow? Actually, compared to the manga the pacing feels very fast to me. XD

Yamato is stupid! How can it possibly be ok for him to eat dinner alone with another girl. He needs some common sense drilled into him.

I'm glad Mei talked it out with her friends, cause feelings like that shouldn't be kept inside, they only make you feel worst. And I think any girl would feel insecure if her guy was spending a lot of time with the same girl.

The episode starts with Mei full of self doubt, but I guess that is just her personality. Even though you start seeing Mei being distant with Yamato (probably not intentional, its just the way she is), you see Yamato making a genuine effort to spend time with her. Noted by the invitation to eat lunch together and offer to text her even when he is gone. Mei's effort in making cookies for Yamato is heartwarming, and I really felt for her when she said that little prayer while baking them.

So Yamato starts having dinner with his co-worker, at her place, after every shoot. No ill intentions on his part. However, he never told Mei about it. She found out about it through gossip, which only adds to her insecurity.

Finding myself with less animosity towards Aiko in this episode as she tries to support Mei by giving her advice and words of encouragement which ultimately leads to Mei's kick-ass "You are my man!" tie grab and kiss with Yamato.

Why couldn't he? As long as nothing happened it's okay. And I think Mei should act sooner and let him know, seize him for herself sometimes. There are many situations in relationship when you will be with opposite sex and I even say you should be. Dating isn't about restrictions on what you can do and you don't, it is about mutual trust. And guys usually don't think too much about meaning behind girl's words, they simply take it as a fact ("Does it matter?" "No, go, it's your opportunity" - at this point he just thought she doesn't mind, so it's ok). The way she acted (no emotions, no telling her feelings) he even couldn't be sure if she wanted him. I was dating girl like her in the past and it was hard for me to make her actually tell me how she feels, many times I just simply have to guess. So I think his act in this episode is ok. It isn't like he betray or cheated her in the first place.

Shoujos have never really gotten to me before, but that kiss made my heart flutter.

Yamato is an idiot for not thinking about agreeing to eat at her house. I don't care how nice you are. If you were nice, you'd realize how that could hurt the one you love's feelings. Whether you do anything with her or not, the implications are already bad. At least invite Mei, lol.
Megumi would have been a great character were she not the rival that we all should dislike. And Yamato just brings on more trouble with whoever that guy was at the end.
