This part, I didn't quite get. Not sure if you're saying that squeerats are really beasts, or that PK users seeing older PK-less humans as squeerats not by hypnotism but by other means such as genetic manipulation.

Even in episode 5, the blow dog seemed like a suicide bomber, the bones seemed like shurikens (their weapons?), and the egg seemed like a grenade.
Just one thing:
The egg is not a blow dog's but a kind of snake's. They produce this kind of eggs to protect their nest - if a predator comes and eat the egg, thinking it is the real egg, then it will be killed once the egg is inside and gets digested.
Well, sorry for my misleading sentence. Yeah, I know it wasn't the blow dog's egg. But if the idea that squeerats are humans is true and that they're just seeing them as such, it's unthinkable that a human would actually eat such egg. I thought it was some sort of representation that they were seeing.

What I mean is, the human hold a condescending attitude towards the squeerats because they never think they are anything close to human. To the human, there is no "PK-less humans". Squeerats is a different animal from human although some of them have the sufficient intelligence to be able to communicate with human.

As I said, no human sees the squeerats as anything like human. And I am not sure how any link between squeerats and human has to do with what you said about "eggs seem like grenade".

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

I see... Well, I only have the current episodes as basis so I tend to misunderstand many things or get misled by my wrong interpretations. But damn I have lots of questions in my mind it blows my mind off just waiting for each episode...

What is the cat of impurity and how does it take away children? What caused Amano Reiko to disappear? How much do adults know about the current society? What happens if a child does not awaken to his/her PK, or does all of them awaken to their PK?

They seem to use some pretty advanced enough technologies such as water hose (do they use the same water system as we do?) but they don't seem to have any electronic device, what exactly is their level of technology and is there a reason why their level of technology is only at that?

What is the scope of Psychokinesis? So far, telekinesis and controlling fire are the only ones that have been shown. I somehow doubt that our current society couldn't have suppressed the PK users. Are they also able to bend light so beams or heat wouldn't work? What about biological weapons such as viruses? If nuclear weapons didn't annihilate the PK users, does that mean they can survive nuclear explosions? What about the nuclear radiation after the nuclear explotion? Were they also capable of manipulating sound? I can think of many ways our society could have handled PK users.

I'm still curious about how queerats came to in their world, because they seem to be more than just another species. It feels like queerats, blow dogs, etc. are still somehow related to PK.

You are now treading the Novel Spoilers territory, because these are not revealed at the current stage of the anime yet. We have a Novel Spoiler thread for that.

Number of population has decreased a lot and not all science and technology could be maintained. So far we don't see any electronics. The Library Archive may function under related technology but we don't know - and anyway it is a technology that does not exist in human village any more. They do have simple device for electricity generation but only good enough to play "From the New World". On the other hand, human makes sure to maintain and develop technology that they deem most important, which includes medicine and biological/genetic science.

The novel has more coverage about the "early history" between our current world and the world seen in the anime. However, the record that remained is never clear about what exactly happened or what exactly the powers those PK users had at that time although there were accounts that some PK users were able to wipe out an army at one go. There were also accounts that PK users appeared among the people with authority. Anyway, when all hell broke loose, the world was thrown into total chaos. It is not as if a group of PK user army marching, but you are finding PK users nearby out of sudden. I am not sure how you can use nuclear weapon to attack PK users when they are living among tens of millions of non-PK users. That said, you have some good thought about the methods the non-PK people tried to fight PK people -- and this would be explored further in the novel/anime later.

Yeah that line of thought is fine. I won't spoil much about that here.

i don't know if you can answer this, but if someone konw someone else's mantra, is it possible to erase the cantus (and not just giving it back?)?

I don't think you need to quote my whole post in order to ask this question? You can just use the "Quick Reply" function (at the bottom of the page) to write a short post without any quoting.

As for your question, the cantus power always resides in the person. It is just that the person is given his/her unique mantra to be able to start it. What the monk did was just making the kids forget their own mantra (down to subconscious level). And there is nothing like "erase", and it does not matter if you know the other person's mantra or not.

They forgot their own mantras, but Saki knew Satoru's mantra. Satoru never knew Saki's mantra.

ah that's what i thought, but i didn't remember that being explained as such

So there isn't much chance of Saki regaining her ability's without going back to the village unless they manage the regroup with there friends and one of them happens to know her mantra?
Because it doesn't seem like Satoru is capable of fighting that army on his own.

I think the flashback scene where Saki and Satoru shared each other's manta makes it clear that Saki found out Satoru's mantra later while Satoru never bothered to learn what Saki's mantra is. As for "forgot their own mantras", it was what the monk said to them so that should be clear as well.

Is it due to my lack of attention to some really important point in the anime that I found very weird that Satoru was not surprised by Saki making his Cantus return?

I mean, till now it's been kinda clear to us audience that Saki is not a "normal" girl, not normal wielder of Cantus, but I didn't take notice that all the other children had noticed that too... And if it isn't so, and the ability to return the Cantus to someone is something anyone can do, just why in the earth Satoru didn't do the same?
Alright, she was able to do it because she remembered his mantra, but even if Satoru didn't know hers, she could just teach him...
This whole stuff didn't make any sense to me at all.

Oh well, going on... This whole thing with queerats is getting boring, since the pattern of the episodes has been the same for 3 weeks now. The Something Spiders rat are clearly bad news, but now, even the ones that are leading Satoru and Saki along the way are seeming suspicious with all the pressure over the kids and all that "bring justice upon the evil someting-spider blah blah"...
And again, excepting for Satoru regaing his Cantus, nothing new was introduced in this episode. Actually, Except for episodes 1-4, when the fake minoshiro appears and explain all that thing about their world, nothing truly relevant has been shown till now D.

Though I do think the scenes where Satoru repels the rocks, arrows, frogs, etc attacks pretty good and impressive, as someone said in the reviews, though I like this show, sometimes I really wonder why I still watch it ./

Saki is one sly girl, figuring out Satoru's mantra, and then a clever one too, she restored Satoru's cantus from that memory. She even knows hypnosis now! I'm both impressed and wary of her now. LOL

Satoru on the other hand is getting overconfident, or maybe he's just drunk with his restored power. As if the dead monk wasn't a lesson enough on how squishy wizards are when caught off-guard. >_<

He got his power back when he was in a dizzy state under the combination of physical tiredness and effect from poison gas (remember Saki's hallucination?). So he did not really think about how he got his power back. He only found out later what Saki did to him for him to get his power back.

This arc lasts for 4 episodes apparently, so of course we see a pattern in the last few episodes.

How about Squealers? How about the queen? How about the foreign species of queerats? Even in this episode we learned that queerats could take on more than one form, and they have some technology (poison gas). We also learn something about the nature of mantra and how it works.

As you seem to find it hard to focus on the show and the details being revealed (as you said nothing truly relevant or new were introduced after ep.4), perhaps it is time you drop this show.

I liked it. The only thing bothering me is the animations.. Are they kind of deformed to show the viewers a fractured perception of the Main characters or is it some type of budget cut? Ether way I love where the plot is heading. How will they stop "it"? I wonder..

Totally sound arguments. Beat me up completely there x)

Well, I did overlooked some facts, mainly about the queerats and everything going on aout them. Not unconsciouly though, on purpose.
I am aware of all the 'news' about them, I did notice Satoru's arrogance and prepotence and his high and mighty attitude because of his powers (actually, I've noticed it since after that monk took away their Cantus and started destroying the queerats as if that was nothing. Satoru was truly enjoying the scene)...

But I'm more interested in finding out about the situation involving human kind, discovering more about the past, the monks who rule over everyone's Cantus basically, what exactly happened with the kids who disappeared (Maria and the tricky guy from episode 2 - and I did think the queerats were these humans who were banned and somehow, through Cantus, had their memory erased and beastifing them was the method to erase their existence as well... now I think they were simply killed or whatever @-@)...

I know it's no use, but I can't help rushing things. And although I said sometimes I wonder why I still watch it, this series is intriguing and make me wonder what's coming next in each episode, however there are things that makes me go "I'm sorry, what happened here?"

Also, I don't give up that easily on a series xD It's just the sixth episode, I'm expecting a lot more to come

Anyways, thanks for all your coments on my quotes, I'm seeing things a lot cleared now ^-^

Them getting in a territory war is dragging. I seriously cannot wait for them to finish dealing with the enemy.

And, I am still not used to the animation.

For past, you mean remote past or recent past? There are a lot of stories about the remote past in the novel, but I doubt it will be covered much in the anime because of the limited space. In the anime, what you saw in the first few minutes in ep.1-3 and what the Library told you may be all you would know about the remote past, at least for now. Even in the novel, we do not get a firm picture of what exactly had happened in the 1000 years between our time and their time (but we have hints here and there).

As for the more recent past. You will find out later what happened with the kids who disappeared. (By the way, it is not Maria who disappeared, Maria is the girl in the main cast who is not Saki. The one who disappeared is Reiko. The tricky guy is Manabu).

I meant remote past, like 500 years back or so. Or even further in the past, since I haven't understood fully well how the modern Tokio went back to that feudal era setting and also where the hell is the rest of the world (inattentive as I am, I don't remember the library talking about other continents and this is story is set only in Japan, right?).

It must be good know Japanese and read this sort of things in advance. I'm always depending on scanlators y-y

Is Maria the long-haired girl? I should've checked the character's list before. Shame on me .p

Oh oh, by the way, do you know the name of the ending's song?
Was it created for the anime only or not?

I can't quite remember what was said in the anime, but in the novel it affected the whole world. In fact the novel mentioned queerats from other continents IIRC.

The ED was written particularly for the anime, as usually the case for an anime OP/ED.

The name of the ED song is called 割れたリンゴ Wareta Ringo (Split Apple). It is sung by Saki (seiyuu: Risa Taneda). I think as a seiyuu she sings really well !! The lyrics and the animation in the ED are all tailor-made for the anime. The images you see in the ending song sequence all have some relations to the story in the anime.

I imagined the sequence was related to the story and all the time wonder how.
And for me, this song is one of the best I've heard as an anime ED. Really touching. Too bad it is so short...

Also, Saki, and the other characters as well, would be an even better character (not her personality, what is very good) if the animators took better care of their expressions D: Soemtimes they're so emotionless and other times so exaggerated... What to do... -.-

I wonder how good the novel is. Wish I could read it.

The ED was written particularly for the anime, as usually the case for an anime OP/ED.

The images you see in the ending song sequence all have some relations to the story in the anime.

They have relations to the story, how?

I know that

Allow me not to answer this one.

Hah? What's that?
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

OK, you are talking about the ED animation...but that scene is not the very end of the novel... Anyway in the ED sequence the are a bunch of references about various points of the novel. Listing them all takes time and anyway they are spoilers. I'd rather you just note them down and see when the reference shows up in the anime.

Satoru went complete psycho killer this episode. I mean seriously he must of slaughtered hundreds of them little guys. His excuse about not turning back because they are to involved got really annoying as well after he said it like the third time.
Honestly I do like this episode a lot although I wish they would hurry up and introduce what on earth the main goal of the series it.
Also the title promises Yori, but so far all I've seen is straight relationships.

I just re-watch ep.6 using the crunchyroll version. There was a next episode preview. It looks like the main queerat ( the one leading the army) is shock and sadden at the fact that Saki isn't a 'God' anymore (at least as of now).

Don't you mean Yuri? Besides I don't think Yuri is the main focus of the series anyways

Here's the preview for episode 7:

Now it kinda looks like the time skip will be in episode 9 or 10, it doesn't look like the end of the arc just yet.

Before the episode I thought the queerats are malformed humans, made by the previous psychic tyrannies but after seeing episode 6 I'm really wondering what they are.

WTF @ the girl's visions at start of episode.

Satoru is a little sinister here, probably a foreshadow of things to come, he might even turn into a villain protagonist of sorts. I always though Shun would fit that role better though, he seems more ambitious. As long as they don't turn into the douche that is Light Yagami or even the considerably less douchey Lelouch, I'm okay with it.

He's certainly on a bit of a power-trip.

The strange and confusing hallucination aside, decent episode for the most part. People everywhere seem to be confused about the mantra, but I'm more astonished that Saki was able to remember the priest's entire incantation. She's got some memory.

She did not remember the priest's incantation though.. She remembers Satoru's incantation that can trigger his power...

It sounds more like the incantation by the head priest in the temple (eps 1), the one where they use fire to induce trance and do "reset" by destroying the original evil power and then give a new mantra as trigger for the new benevolent power they can control.
Which is more amazing...

Yeah. Satoru's mantra. But that came after Saki recited the priest's incantation.

Alright !

So... I was curious and watched the scene where the Priest took their Power and Mantra and he said that they would never again remember their Mantra. Saki couldn't tell Satoru her Mantra because She doesn't remember anymore.

The Class scene happened in the past and she remembered Satoru's Mantra = He got his Power Back
Uh... I guess that answers that question. Thanks.

To me it doesn't. If i was one of them i will be carrying a paper with the name of my mantra with me so i can be sure no asshole will take it from me just like that.

Kind of weird, it felt like I was watching an entirely different anime on this episode.

I mean what happened to the rest of the characters? Do they not even care? It seems they are more interested in wiping out that Ground Spider tribe of queerats.

I also don't like how they transitioned halfway into being caught by that monk after learning what happened to the world and potentially learning more about the story.

Instead we got this weird mole rat war arc.

I keep on wondering why they're even putting up with this little animal war. If it were me, I'd focus on going home...

I agree. I wanted more info about the humanity or PK thing that the creature was talking about. It seemed more interesting than this.
