Nice sales for SAO! Predictions (30-35k) were pretty much spot on :D Actually ends up beating the Strike Witches movies barely in total. Hopefully SAO gets a few more weeks of charting.

Glad to see Hyouka, Accel World, Dog Days', Guilty Crown, Yuru Yuri event and Joshiraku on there!

Kalafina and ClariS for the Madoka Magica singles :) And Chu2koi, OniAi and To Love-Ru Darkness was nice...

Look at all those cancelled kokoro connect pre-orders....so that's why it was missing in the daily chart orz...bullying is a bad thing indeed...

Sword art online sales barely moved from the first day...

Looks like the IS gang is safe for now of being overthroned by SAO...

Doesn't Stalker tend to overestimate popular titles? Even Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari, etc were overestimated if I remember correctly.

Biggest overestimation is PMMM. I recalled it has 150k points lol. Bake nadeko snake had 120k iirc. And then SAO vol3 had 90k also. The recent overestimation is Tari-Tari.

Can you imagine how bad it'll get when Girls und Panzer is near the top of the Fall charts? I'm rooting for it to sell well just to see the reactions, even though I'm not a big fan.

Given the prices of a box set or a single BD containing only two or three episodes and the fact that there are more than enough series that pander to the exact same crowd it's no wonder the market will concentrate on one or two hit series.

Some popular titles yes, and unfortunately SAO happens to be one of the
overestimated ones, unless we see a second and third week, which is highly likely.

It's like the Japanese are programmed to automatically buy the anime that panders to otakus the most - regardless of quality.

As if SAO sells because it really is pandering to otakus - in fact researches show that quite significant part of the buyers are the LN fans not anime otaku. Same goes for Horizon and TE.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

SAO...

Again the watchers in 2ch Sales Thread proved that their consensus view is pretty spot-on. I wrote that a week before the sales date, the consensus view in the Japanese forum puts SAO first week sales at 25k-35k with most of the estimates near 35k, and so it proved !!!

Looks like the IS gang is safe for now of being overthroned by SAO...

I treat the IS line as the upper bound of SAO sales, and it seems SAO is now doing close to that. On the other hand, some people think SAO will sell 50k or even more -- in fact few serious people in Japan take that kind of wild estimate seriously. They know the limit of Amazon stalker.

It's sad how Kokoro Connect sold less than 3400 copies and didn't even rank... If only the producers didn't pull that stupid prank.

Can you imagine how bad it'll get when Girls und Panzer is near the top of the Fall charts? I'm rooting for it to sell well just to see the reactions, even though I'm not a big fan.
Girls und Panzer is cool tho, there's actually some substance to the tank and its history, n not just about cute girl.

GalPan (Girls und Panzer) is the only anime this season that I have watched one episodes for 4 times. Each time I managed to find something new hidden in it. It is such a fun.

>when Girls und Panzer is near the top of the Fall charts
In fact the latest Amazon BD sales/pre-sales ranking has GalPan as the No.1 selling title among this season's anime. Of course the fact that ep.4 has just been broadcast helps, but I cannot ignore the possibility that it may end up beating some titles widely tipped to be the top 4 this season.

Now that was funny. So slideshows and sparkles everywhere insted of fights can be counted as a great production?

Also ALO sucks.

Hey dood, its should be clear I'm talking about Horizon smh, why you even edit my post?

"Stay off from my horizon. Its well produced anime regardless you like it or not. Its have top notch production value.. can't say the same about the rest.

The ML: TE OP sunged by Popular singer, Koda Kumi.. the people that buying the CD may not care about the anime at all.

Of course one of the worst shows of the year has to sell well, it just wouldn't be Japanese to not buy it.

I don't like Total Eclipse, but these good sales boost my hopes for an anime based off of the main visual novel series.

I have two answers for your question

1. The song is sung by Kumi Koda, who was the top of the top female singer in Japan just a few years ago. She has wound down her activities since she married and got pregnant this year, and this CD is a new release that breaks the recent silence. Selling this number is actually nothing too surprising.

2. But then the song actually got quite a bit of good feedback among the anime fans (who do not necessarily care much about the general j-pop music outside of anime songs) as one with addictive melody and beats. So it can be argued that some anime fans found it appealing enough to buy it.

In fact her music video is done entirely in anime style with TE-style mecha

I like those SW movie sales.

S3 when? With this, the chance of Yuru yuri S3 coming out next year, no railgun S2 and Saki S2.. can 2013 get any better?

Pandering to otaku doesn't guarantee in any way that something will sell.

Given the prices of a box set or a single BD containing only two or three episodes and the fact that there are more than enough series that pander to the exact same crowd it's no wonder the market will concentrate on one or two hit series.

Except that it is not EXACTLY THE SAME crowds. Different LNs have different group of avid fans and they do not always overlap. The most bestselling titles in recent seasons are those that are adaptations and one strong source of customers is the fans of the original novels/manga and many of them are not even dedicated anime fans/otaku. Your view is just too simplistic and stereotyped.

Kuroko on the list makes me happy. Although the manga is going a tad bit downhill and getting a little too repetitive I guess cause the moves are not animated yet. xD

S3 when?

The movie is just like a precursor to a Season 3, so I am quite sure a S3 is being prepared.

Its sales is around what Japanese fans estimated according to the sales of the TV anime series, which is very good indeed.

2013 is Yuri Paradise.

Undoubtly, and the info I could find out on Yama no Susume(by looking up info about the manga) it seems that one is going to have a yuri romance 'subplot'. And Vividred Operation has the same Director as strike witches so I would not be surprised if it had yuri undertones(I could always hope..).

I think what you once said was "I'm almost certain SAO would sell around the 40-50K see'ing as it's growing daily, heck there's a fair chance it might sell even more than that." so 50k was mentioned at least once...

==============

Anyway, the question now is: whether SAO can beat IS in vol.1 total sales? And after that, the question is whether SAO can beat IS in terms of sales average. The latter is tricky because SAO is 2 cours and since the tendency is that the later volumes usually sell fewer than the earlier ones, 2 cour anime series can be at a disadvantage here.

Whoa, one comment by a random person will make rumors spread and everyone will talk about how SAO is going to sell 50k.
At that time SAO was estimated to sell 90k on Stalker, FYI.

Did i quote the wrong comment btw? i could've sworn it said j0x.
